@@chasstiles7611 Lifejackets legally have to be carried on the boat, but they don't have to be worn. They just have to be onboard the boat and easily accessible if needed.
I have been in on of these boats. It is super fun but expensive at the same time. It is worth a ride. Went in the winter month to NZ , these boat had heater radiator water passed through the handle bars for the passanger , we hardly felt cold. It was very warm.
maybe just me, but reminds me of rally driving, a bit of drift on here and there, pop up over something and land on the other side hoping she bites again, epic
Mini boats usually pump river water straight through the engine to save weight which also cools the exhaust on the way out. Bigger boats usually use a heat exchanger with a self contained coolant system.
Incredible. Wondering, what's "common procedure" and how often are you buffing out the under-hull? I would kill to drive one of these bad boys! Thanks~
Probably put more money into props than rebuilding the hull. I would imagine they build the hull to be a tank. But rocks and debris are inevitable to be picked up into a jet drive
Man hate to ask but you have the best fishing in the world..... I think that's about to change if you keep this up No way you are not damaging that ecosystem Man those poor fish
Jetboats were developed in New Zealand in the 50's. They have been running those rivers since. Your concern may well be valid but those river systems are broad and fast flowing over former glacial rocks. I would imaging it would be more damaging if they were closer to the river banks.
I understand these are propelled by jets but how does the water get _into_ the engine if it only needs one inch of water? Do the inlets point straight down and it sucks it up? Also, what happens with objects (stones, etc) in the water? I assume there is some filter to keep them out?
It's a square opening on the bottom of the boat with a mesh screen and it's simply a water pump that is ran by the engine that sucks in huge amounts of water and forces it a small stream or jet stream out the rear and pushes the boat forward .
The jet unit sucks water through a grill on the bottom of the hull and pumps it out at high pressure through a steerable nozzle. The grill usually only gets blocked when the boat is stationary or slow moving in very shallow water. At high speed if you throttle off when 'straightlining' across shingle bars it usually wont block up.
You can purchase a kit from several distributors for around 5 grand or so. They send you all the pieces, you then weld that yourself. So, if you're skilled in electrical and fabrication probably somewhere between 10-12 grand. When they're all done up they go for 20-30 grand.
can you imagine once this takes off, you want to get way out into nature, some hiking, fishing and quiet beauty... and a bunch of a$$holes are using these boats everywhere.
thanks for not playing music over the engine noise like everyone else
Well said!
Wearing life jackets in 1 foot of water but no helmets!
big brain boys
Law requires life jackets
Only takes 8 inches to drown

Nothing like motorboating and she’s happy with one inch!
Cool river, saw your boat in at Mike’s workshop few days ago, tidy little machine, was checking out progress on my boat👍
All the stimulations from this is just overwhelming the water and the sky and the speed it’s just unbelievable
Nothing like running wide open😄 Never been on a fast jet boat but looks like it would be a lot of fun. Get the Adrenaline pumping 👍😊

What kind of boat is this?
"heater radiator water passed through the handle bars for the passenger"
Thanks for the trivia! I never knew that.
You guys have the most beautiful rivers there! 😍
Beautiful scenery. I'll likely never see something like that
Yeah mate the best rivers are south island nz.I just got a mini jetboat my self built for river and ocean.has a jet ski motor
The colour of the water is amazing.
Hey from Canada that thing is awesome I love it that’s some seriously fast fun
That’s beautiful scenery
That is so beautiful. What a way to spend a day!
Very true 👍
Your rivers are so pristine and beautiful! What are you using for headsets? Looks almost like you made them from earmuffs?
maybe just me, but reminds me of rally driving, a bit of drift on here and there, pop up over something and land on the other side hoping she bites again, epic
This is what I tell my wife!!!
That water looks amazing. Fun in the sun fer shur
I need one of these in my life!!
This was an epic run and a sick video but I’d love to see what the hull looks like after a run like that.
It looks like you could run face to face with bears out there. That's the life right there!
No predators bigger than a wild cat in NZ.
This would be Awesome with one of those 360 degree cameras!
Coolest thing I’ve seen today.
As i say about my KTM500, "STUPID FAST FUN!!! i think i need one of these 🤔😀🤪🤪🤪 Thanks for that rip up the river👍
Skills bro, impella needs a sharpen now ?
One question: how is the engine cooled? It absorbs water directly from the river or how does it do it?
Mini boats usually pump river water straight through the engine to save weight which also cools the exhaust on the way out. Bigger boats usually use a heat exchanger with a self contained coolant system.
dunno why you do not have a roll bar, bloody cool machine all the same
This type of jet would be a cool 3 boat race.
Looks really fun. I'm in San Diego.

I want one!!!!!🤘🤘🤘
That was intense, I think I will stick to my bike LOL
😂 now that's funny
Wow, what does the the jet intake grill look like. How come you dont suck up stones in shallow water
Google it you will see them on there.
What is the hull made of? Going at that speed, cant imagine aluminium hull can hold it. Im confused.
5mm Aluminum usually with a plastic UMPHE liner.
How often do you have to replace the bottom?
Same time you replace the boat.

the beacons are lit!!
On my outboard jet, the intake is called, " the foot". I have three broken & busted "feet" sitting in my boathouse. 😂

How do these pick up enough water to provide that kind of thrust in such shallow water and also not just suck up rocks?

No idea of engine size or make but my it makes my spine shivering with energy what a beast 💪
Yamaha jet ski engine.
Amazing!
(Helmets needed though)
This looks like amazing fun!
Where is this. Yous know how to have fun

What hull engine and unit are used in this boat build
3m hull, 5mm alloy with a jetski engine.

My one has a jet ski engine and is 70hp.you can get up to 250hp jet skis now.but this probley has a sr30 Nissan motor or something.gos pretty well aye
What a way to spoil a nice river
Looks like a video game

I can’t believe that jet doesn’t take in debris and damage that jet pump.
That’s because he buttons off the throttle when hitting the gravel 👍
They have grills on the intake port and sand traps for finer grains.anything that's to small for the trap just gets blown back out

what motor?
Yes Please....

No yachts on a river mate the keel would hit the bottom before the hull was in the drink lol

How do I get one?
With deep pockets
Send it brother 😂😂😂
Cool
Nothing ruins a day in nature worse than a jackass in a jet boat
Nothing better than actual sound ! I am not watching it because the music is cool in the background. Just Saying
How much money do you need to start this hobby? Do you need any driver's license or certificate?
$40k NZ no license.
Amazing time there bud!
How the heck does that not suck up rocks into the engine?! This blows my mind.
Has a grate in the intake and will have a sand trap for finer grains
Lol so many close calls. You're going to crash going like that
Better put skid plastic on the bottom hull couse you're going to be doing repairs every time out the way you ride the rocks

It’ll be at least 150kmph/100mph on a big flat lake
