Sorcery is definitely doing a better job being a nostalgic Magic alternative than MetaZoo does at being a nostalgic Pokemon alternative.
Yeah after seeing metazoos art after release all the hype I personally had for it was gone.
don't forget Poliwags as it has the same art style.

Since you asked: Avatars really have their own two rarity tiers. The ones that come in the site slot are basic/ordinary Avatars, and are the same ones that come in the starter decks (Flamecaller, Sparkmage, Geomancer, Waveshaper) & the Sorcerer. All the others appear in the Elite/Unique Slot, with the Pathfinder being Unique and the rest being “Elite” rarity Avatars, but in the same way that the common rarity ones appear much less than sites and Ordinary cards, the actual pull rarer of the higher rarity Avatars is somewhere between regular Elites and Uniques.

But on the actual topic of pull rates, you can easily compare how people break down playsets of rarities to sell and how many Avatars they’re willing to include in them, they literally don’t appear at the same pull rate as non-Avatars of their listed rarity in much the same Rubble appears in boosters but cannot be foil and is less common compared to Ordinary site. Ball’s in your court, you sure you got the right target?

It’s great, I’m very pleased with the gameplay and its collectibility. I really hope they don’t overprint it. The four precon package is perfect. Buy one booster box add some spice and a few friends are good to go.

Agreed. Yet to have a bad Sorcery game as each one is unique (no pun intended) mainly due to the positioning mechanics and the sites you pull, a single card can be used in multiple ways. If I lose its because my opponent is better or has a deck that just works better against mine. It's never due to a mana flood/drought happening. Deck building potential is endless/unlimited. I can't go back to playing magic or f&b.
Hoping the Sorcery team having a yearly release will keep up the quality/balance in tip-top shape of planning/playtesting and commissioning that beautiful art. Far easier on the wallet if anything.

Fully agree and hope they don’t print anymore and just move on. Even tho I’d like to get some more boxes and have some more product, I don’t want it if it means printing more product.

Just tried the game last week. Pretty good ! Really like how the cards are simple, but the rules makes the game deep. Also, no mana problem with how decks work. Can't wait to open my beta box.
I don’t know how many people remember how cool this channel was during ultimate masters, war of the spark, and throne of eldraine collectors boxes openings. I do and these boxes honestly feel better than those cards. I hope with your next round of beta boxes you hold enough boxes back to do openings for the next couple months.

There can only be approx. 250 complete foils alpha sets. So it is indeed not easy

Avatars can be common (sorcerer, elemental ones, and 4 news from beta precon), Elite (Deathspeaker, Seer, Enchantress, Battlemage, elementalist) or rare (Pathfinder) oh and awesome last box !!!!

Rudy, did you pledge any Sorcery Alpha during the kickstarter campaign? Do you have any alpha boxes or cases? Did you buy them in the secondary market or were they pledged?
They gave him a few cases of alpha so he would pump it on the channel a few weeks before the Kickstarter closed.

@@EddyakaLow lol been a patron for years, got the beta kit through rudy and bought alpha when he pumped it. It's not a knock on rudy, even on the first sorcery video he released talking about the kickstarter he literally says he is not paid but they gave him a few cases of alpha.

You would think they'd understand, but literally every TCG company has made the mistake of overprinting to oblivion.. let the players be ravenous for the product. It's a good thing. Let's hope they keep the print run respectable.

Ah, yes. Cause why have a game meant to be played actually be playable when you can just make it all about money, which would actually kill value faster once all the "investors" realize there is no actual demand for the product since they ensured no one could play it. Kind of like MetaZoo.

@Scott-jg3ec Everything is in moderation. No one is saying every set should have tiny print runs making every decent card $100+
But when you take the Yugioh/Magic route of printing 100x versions and having giant print runs where everything is sub $5, why should anyone continue to buy and play these cards when none of it gains value and is worthless years into the future. You should be rewarded for spending your money buying cards and seeing them increase in value over the years, not the opposite.
That's why it's called CCG, the first letter being collectible. If your game has no financial value, it is a tough sell for it to be collectible.

🤔 I don’t understand the PSG rating system, for a situation like this or Alpha. Print run is limited right now. So how can they say "Your Foil philosopher's stone, can't be rated as a 10, even though its the best that will ever be found, the edge has some foxing."
That philosopher's stone is the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be for this print run.
Yes, in the next Campaign there may be a better one, but its not a Alpha or a Beta, its from the full commercial run.
The game is actually really fun to play as well. You can get the precons for around $40

I don't believe Avatars have a rarity per se but there is a massive price variance between them based on power, especially for foils.

i've opened around 12 alpha boxes since the kickstarter but i vividly remember one box was so bad i only got 2 foils LOL at least one was an elite. but i feel like that was an anomaly.

Yeah, the game is actually fun and well thought out. I have played a few events and it has taken some time to learn all the mechanics, but once your up and running it's very enjoyable.
This Sorcery looks like an OSR for MTG.

Rudy I know it's not necessary your job to talk about Sorcery but I don't follow any websites or TH-camrs that play or talk about the game or art. And I am definitely the type with a collector mentality lol I have a damn vintage marble collection I recently started 🤦
But yeah you should talk about the art and just try harder to sell it to the collectors like me. People who are curious about it but have yet to take the plunge to spend cash money on. Just a suggestion 😊
The proper way to do this would be for Eric's Curiosa to start on an Unlimited set, beginning with a pre-release of preconstructed decks a few weeks before the release of Unlimited booster boxes, and leave Beta alone.
I was thinking about that and how would the cards look. Because mtg unlimited had white boarders and sorcery has full art cards would they do something to the back of the card?
@@chrisfloto3599 Yeah, there needs to be some kind of important differentiation between them that would make Beta cards more valuable. Otherwise an Unlimited release is essentially just a Beta reprint. I don't think the back of the card is correct, because then you run into marked cards issues. Retiring art on important cards is probably the way they can do it, the same way they did for Alpha. But it's tough, there aren't a lot of levers to pull.

Most tcg's these days are just aiming for profit because they see how popular other ones have been. The issue is that with so many established tcg's they cant really ever compare. Its not that I wish demise on anyone, but its too difficult to compete.

If they don't overprint at least some, this is just going to become yet another TCG that collapses eventually due to having a lack of players since players can't get it for fair prices due to all the "investors" grabbing it ASAP. Complaining about CCGs/TCGs printing for "GaMe PiEcEs" pricing is like complaining because comic book publishers printed enough so readers could read it.

Is the game fun? I'm curious but not enough to just blindly invest.
It's fun. I didn't enjoy the precons until I added some cards to each deck. The air precon avatar requires you to play a lot of cards in a turn which really isnt possible with the normal precon deck
Game is really great to play, very strategic. Gradually creating the realm as the game advances is a particularly fun mechanic. Also… no mana screw
