So Bandai "kept" their promise to reprint old sets. The first wave hits the markets, chops prices in half. It all comes down to quantities, can the market absorb all the additional supply or will it take years to recover?
Likely the 50% crash was more a shock reaction than actual repricing. Next print waves/distributor releases will show.
In Australia there was a very small restock, most stores got anywhere between 1-2 boxes of set 1. still no word on sets 2, 3 and 4

The reprint of op01 has been interesting since it's all white bottom boxes with post errata cards. While it hurts the stock of op01 as a whole I think it's a good move since it's keeping the early stuff rarer

With all due respect to Rudy...this was actually one of the best market analysis vids out to date. It was a fair assessment. There are so many "game piece" one piece hating bros out there that put out exceptionally ignorant comments.

OPTCG investing definitely does seem like risky business for now. Super bullish on the IP for the next 5ish years until the series finishes at least though, its popularity has grown a lot recently and Netflix seems to be investing in more One Piece media as well. Unfortunately Bandai could still tank the TCG value with reprints 🤷♂️

Word is a distro had an order that wasnt paid for so they sold it off on top of the 1 case per store reprint there were no blue bottoms but this was hear say at my lgs but it doesnt help. players cant get enough product to even play. I was at a pre release yesterday just to get xtra product.i know bandi doesnt have the best track record so idk what the future of this game is bc players arent happy.
Bandai Hobby for there other lines don't discontinue anything there are lines that are 40 years old still being reprinted today
The blue bottom boxes will most definitely hold value. The players will buy the reprints but the investors will only want the blue bottom. The people who got in early are winning right now. I’m late to the party and I’m still buying. Real collectors want them to reprint we need the game to grow

I've said this before, and I'll say it again: One Piece investors are going to get crushed. There's insane risk in trying to horde a brand new TCG. Bandai shouldn't be shy in printing this as much as they need to. There seems to be a lot of new players that are interested in playing and can't get their hands on product at a reasonable price. That's a problem for Bandai too if they can't get more participation from people outside of investors.
Jesus... it baffles me how different people keep saying same nonsense over and over again. You don't need max rarity your deck to play. They'll reprint most broken cards in new set coming in few months. Rreprinting older sets will do nothing for new players outside of killing any collectors value for those cards. It'll also hit players since many people heavily invested in their decks. Welp guess what, your 100$ deck is now worth 50$. Bandai: "don't worry bro, it's ok because new people will come in and we care about them more then you".

I'll add my 5 cents here. In reality most of current meta decks are based around OP03, OP05 and OP06. These cards are still relatively cheap and boxes are available. Bandai history was always around their focus on current sets - print, release and move. Now they started reprinting older sets due to community demand that is something new. They tried something like this with Dragon Ball Masters BT10 and BT11, and I remember how many players and investors complained that they are ruining the game, and nearly 2 years later game is actually dead and they are trying to bring it on with new Fusion World. In truth reprinting old stuff is bad, and Bandai is known for reprinting all good cards in their anniversary products already, then why should they still reprint old sets? I don't get it.

I'm sick of these investor bros hording boxes then crying when the price goes down. I want to play the game and can't find a box at even close to msrp. The newest set is listed everywhere at $200 instead of the $120 msrp on the day of the release and these guys cry cause they can't over charge more.
The newest long term tcg that will do just as well as the big boys is FAB that’s been my main focus. If anyone has a chance to top MTG is FAB all day and they did something that no other tcg has and that’s providing more value than the sealed box itself vs Pokémon which is honestly the complete opposite.

Welcome to digimon 2.0 lol this is happening and the boxes won’t be high because cards are been reprinted. Most of people won’t open older boxes because many will chase for newer cards. Many are players and many Yugioh or other tcg moving over to one piece because of prices and tournaments available.
These guys are the reason so many people have left games. If i can't get product without lining so douche's pockets then why play?

Bandi should be reprinting. The game isn't in the stage of investment. Investment's in new TCG games are a gamble. Bandi should be reprinting. They need to keep building a player base. They have one but not the one they need for sustained growth. At least not in the USA. They are making a solid decision as a company. The people that play the game are happy about this. Its only the people that don't play the game that brought all the boxes to make money that are concerned.
One piece is done. It had a lot of eyes due to the new show. They are reprinting based on old demand which is now dissipating as the show fades in peoples memory and they move on. Reducing demand, all while the supply will be increasing.
😂 I think its the oposite. If you think having scalpers and investors since day 1 is healthy for a new TCG, you are completly wrong.
You need to distribute your product to as much people as you can, so they join the TCG, play it, and then you will control the market.

Sold out in 5 hours and now the price is rising back to where it was.

Last time I pre ordered something with Good Games for a $300 item, they cancelled my pre order the day before release day, and then on release day in the store they had the boxes for $800

Compared to pokemon? Of course not, but the other games? I haven't had any issues moving op graded or raw, and the sealed is gone in a few hours.

I work in one of the big 3 grading companies. For security reasons, I won't tell you which one but I'm sure its the same everywhere. You cannot underestimate just how massive the One Piece card game is. One Piece is easily the second biggest card game we get in terms of volume, right next to Pokemon, and it isn't even close. Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh, Weiss are completely eclipsed by One Piece. All this to say, if One Piece does collapse, a *lot* of people are going to have a really bad time. So many cards being graded, I couldn't imagine all of them tanking in price. That'd be huge. But...at the same time...i think it'll just go up again in a few years. You just have to be patient as a collector. If sets get reprinted, hold onto those cards for a few years before selling. From my experience that's just how it works.

OP will survive. Pre errata (blue bottom) will never be reprinted. Also like pokemon there were older sets! Carddass formation etc. Bandai have been reprinting which was much needed. They confirmed they would do this and kept their promise. LGS’s will get some reprints but I believe that will be it.

The reason the voices that say “print more product” go quiet when more product is printed is because… they’re playing the game.

It's because overprinting leads to supply outweighing demand. This leads to boxes under msrp. The people crying about wanting to buy current boxes at msrp are asking stores to price match tcgplayer when boxes are under msrp.
Pro tip: when it’s crashing you buy it and when it’s over priced you buy it.
Most people don't understand that it's a great opportunity and the risk is so small if you buy retail or below. Same with cheap singles you can grade. In the end people will always appreciate great artwork.
These anime cards based on existing large IPs never go well.
A sustainable card game needs to be original to have an identity.
Not mention how oversaturated the card market is, feels like nothing new has a chance, barely anyone (except desperate investors(glorified consumers) gives a shit about anything outside of the titans of the industry.
Specifically in my area One Piece is very strong. Like 4 shops in a 30 minute radius running it with turnout of 16-28 players a night. I think you are severely underestimating just how big one piece is in terms of an IP. We didn't have numbers anywhere near this for Dragon Ball or Digimon

Not really short it unless you have people that will front you cards to sell that are going down so you can buy it lower and return the borrowed card. Sometimes when you buy something it jumps right after the seller ships it. That's about the best feeling ever. 😂

All most suits care about is making the immediate numbers so they can negotiate more compensation there or at any board of directors that’ll pay more than what they’re making now. They do not care about the people making their products much less the people buying it. “Investors” are just a bunch of whales for them to exploit until everyone moves on to the next big thing.
Why should they care about investors. They are selling pictures, not stocks.

@festeezy I was with you till you said it was a kids' show. First episode was released in 1999. That would put most of the fans in their late 20s to 30s. Not many people are going to watch a back log of a 1000 shows to get into something. Their might be some kids that like the show but I wouldn't say they are in the main demographic especially in the US where it is harder to watch it. I went to a prerelease with a friend just to check it out and there wasn't anyone under the age of 20 there for One Piece and they had a 64 person group. I can't say the same for MtG and I prefer MtG.

Only LGSs who are contributing with tournaments are going to get boxes. No one else will get boxes and these boxes will almost always be sold without shrink, so that they can't be resold.

Nothing new, it's what it is. Everything eventually falls because it wasn't supposed to be that high from the first place. Cards are underrated because it's not limited print run
Dont always rely on tcgplayer website for the price due to supply and demand. They have lots of cards inventory so therefore the value falls, the lesser the higher or speculation pricing
It will not change anything. One piece is hard to find in any country. I quit magic as soon as they started swapping skins and went woke.
