Probably on Thursday. I have one more update planned showing the finished product, although I'm waiting on the aluminum center diff still which mailed out today. Thanks for watching!
Yeah, I agree on the Powerstrokes. I think I have 3 sets of them now. Very easy to bleed and tune. Although, I have found the GTR's quite nice so far (even though they were filled wrong from the factory)
The RCNetwork I've found that with a few shocks from different cars. Seems when there putting them together they don't always trim the extra plastic from the discs in the shocks. I've had that happen twice. ONce with an Axial and once with a Traxxas.
Never understood the hate traxxas gets. They make good tough products. I'm 1/2 set up for race 1/2 set up for bash and the platinum is one of the best I've owned. Such a choice of parts to pick from!! Maybe you doing such a fine job will change some minds rich!! Looks good!! Good call on the off set. Handling sooo much better compared to stock!! Beat that thang!!

Traxxas is a great bashable car. They also have most brushed versions available in brushless. You need to decide a couple of things: 2wd or 4wd and what class - Short Course, Monster, Buggy, etc.
I believe this video was shot with my iPhone 4s and an external plug in mic. I have since got a hold of a nikon 1 J3 camers that I'm testing the waters with, but it is not external mic capable.
If you have been following the series, which obviously you haven't....My point was to take a stock Slash and modify it to be a contender on a local clay track (btw, Ryan Cavalieri and recent 4wd world champion Steven Hartson's track). The reason for the series, is that the Slash was the game changer to the RC industry a few years back, but now has no credibility on a legitimate track. After I ran it last week, I had many people stopping by my pit asking to see under the body.
I think where it stemmed was when Traxxas was trying to race the Slash 4x4 when it first was released, they gave the HCG version to a couple big name racers. The racers figured out that the higher center of gravity was horrible for racing, so they started chopping it up. They sandwiched two slash chassis' together to lower the CG and used that to race. Traxxas then lost all credibility from racers. You can't deny that they have the basher market cornered, I want to see if it can really race!
Great series! Love my power strokes on my 2wd. Hate the$10 o-ring kit! You know of any other options? Was hoping the gtrs had same size and apparently thickness, because axial 3.5mm shafts use thicker o-rings, by a lot! Can't wait to see this thing on the track, it'll probably convince me I need one!
I race it on an indoor clay track medium size and I do have the spring assortment kit right now I'm running 35 rear and 45 front but it still doesn't Seem right.
Really depends on what your gonna be doing with it. My usual starting ground with the Powerstrokes are 45f/40r. For springs, try the stock as they're tuned for the Slash (stock weight though). If you get the spring kits (a little pricey at $20 a set) you'll have some good range with the two spring combo. I always ran a stiffer spring up front.
If you want to seriously race, the Losi is you're best bet between those two (I would choose the SCT410 though). That doesn't mean that the Traxxas can't perform, but like the project sleeper series I did, the Traxxas gets no credit as a real racer. The option parts available are also geared to the basher mostly.
WoW Your updates really motivated me to get back and finish my Platinum upgrades!!...dont know how to send ya my video but maybe you can check it out...Anyway I like the fact that you upgraded your Slash yet still recommend another truck to race...Unfortunately i started with a Slash and just dont have the heart to switch, plus i have two Slash 4x4's the "Platinum" and the "Ultimate" ( my GF gave it to me)...In one of your videos you said that after a lot of tweeking you finally got it to run right.Do you think this is something that can be minimal if one gets a SC10 or any other SCT?
The RCNetwork actually..and im not putting down your comment but you can use any paint you like,BUT you have to spray an adhesion promoter first for plastic. its clear and doesnt affect your paint color at all. i use it in my body shop on plastics and decided to try it on a couple rc bodies. i use it in spray can form and you can buy it at autozone and other auto stores. i bash really hard and really put my bodies thru alot so ive tested them well. it works great. i sprayed 2 coats of the adhesion promoter and followed up with spray paint. just for shits and giggles i even sprayed one with paint from dollar general(miracal paint) shit paint and well....the adhesion promoter made it stick and it has been thru hell and back. this gives you alot more color options such as factory paint touch up colors(dupli-color spray cans) and colors not offered by the rc paint industry.
Well...your truck is like the other thousands out their...why do a video if it a rc that has been done 100 times over...be different. ..hints why I have no video...im different. .
yea i have the 2wd slash, great basher but i want to start racing 4wd next year so i decided to go buy the ten scte and put some tekin power in there haha, i can see that the project is going great so far and i i gotta say it looks amazing aswell, if you ever have time check out my rc channel /channel/UCsIls_DMGmLFoWW-VZfynQg its not the best but im just getting started.

Thanks for watching Ross. The Slash can really be built up so many different ways.
this build has really got me thinking of how and what i want to do to my 4x4 thank you for taking the time to make such helpful informational videos

love the idea of the "sleeper" im a huge fan of your videos rich!
Thanks Alex!
Thanks Pat!
Thanks RCC
Yeah, there will be a couple more installments, patience please!
Especially at the hands of a "bash only" truck!
Another follower...oh..rock star energy drink...like that has not been done...good job!
I really hope it does well! Got a bit invested in this!
My favorite lately is the "Punched!" It drinks like cool Aid!
Love the PowerStrokes, I have three sets, two sets of extra springs and two sets of the extra parts. LOVE THEM!

Yeah, I've seen that mostly on Axial stock shocks. That's why I never use em!
Thanks Aaron. The Ultimate is also a great choice! I just didn't want the extra radio. Lipo, etc
Yeah, it takes great footage.
Patience, please! couple more updates are scheduled and then some running footage

Thanks for watching! I will check out yours as well!
Looks good. Wouldn't have guessed iPhone!
Yep, have the Axis RC brace. I'll install after I get to the track and lay down some laps with out it.
Nice ready to see it running!

looks great would love to see a slash win aginst all those other trucks
Thanks Seth, Teaxxas gets such a bad wrap in the race world. I want to see if I can't put my own twist on a Traxxas race truck!
Traxxas is a great bashable car. They also have most brushed versions available in brushless. You need to decide a couple of things: 2wd or 4wd and what class - Short Course, Monster, Buggy, etc.
That's cool looking man
Ooops! It's all good, no one ever spots me on the track!

There's lots of pricepoints of RC cars. The Team Durango DESC210 was just on sale (with a coupon) for $180 at Tower Hobbies and thats a full RTR
Yeah, not a problem. Kinda funny, I got one set of split six with the wrong offset in the bag. Probably on Monday is when I'll have time.
Cool deal. should have track footage in a week or so
Awesome
Very cool, the body looks good. When is the first drive!?
I've heard goo things about the Kyoshos. Also heard they're pricey if you can find them!

I have them on my B44.2. Or maybe they're the 12mm big bores.... Not sure
BTW, you don't have to watch.........if you've seen it a thousand times
Nice buddy, "two thumbs up" from me! Hey I thought you had a chassis brace? Maybe on the next video update ... Shhh
Great series! Love my power strokes on my 2wd. Hate the$10 o-ring kit! You know of any other options? I see you have some great videos too! NOTHING. Great job!
hi there i want a traxxas car but dont know what to get got to be cheap and good for bashing and brushless
Can you post the weight of a single naked split six wheel?
next video will be from the track?
Yeah, its hard for me to buy a $60 Traxxas screenprinted shell! lol
I race it on an indoor clay track medium size and I do have the spring assortment kit right now I'm running 35 rear and 45 front but it still doesn't Seem right.
Yeah, that's where I run too. Try rebuilding with 45/40r and check all your shock positions to make sure something isn't wonky.
To throw people off even more you could have gotten a stock body that was factory painted and also the stock Slash 4x4 rims but with good PL tires
I just got this truck and is there any thing I should upgrade on it right away I got the 6808 model number
I have a slash 4x4 lcg to and I have the powerstrokes, what oil and springs (front & rear) would you recommend to run? And I love this truck!
You really should try the variable damping pistons for the GTRs. They will out perform the power strokes by a long shot. Part # 5461.
Tom Parry Thanks for the info
To see if it can't really compete? Don't you mean the opposite?
Yeah, Alright, you nailed it! Sometimes I get caught up in the words! lol
tlr scte 2.0 or traxxas lcg platinum edition. Is there a way I could talk to you about this could I call you!!
If you want to seriously race, the Losi is you're best bet between those two (I would choose the SCT410 though). i love watching your vids but proline shocks are no ware near the quality of kyosho shocks
What camera / mic did you shoot this with? Looks and sounds nice!

wait did you just spray paint it? or how did you paint it and what products?
+mx4life You have to use Polycarbonate Spray paint by either Tamiya, Spaz Stix or Duratrax

Thats very true lol
You are not supposed to show us body ...now everybody on track will recognize that it is slash from ur youtube.!!!!
Yep, talk about edgy
And love your vid
a sleeper like your grandma nova
Exactly!
Well...your truck is like the other thousands out their...why do a video if it a rc that has been done 100 times over...be different. ..hints why I have no video...im different. .
I have one I race ultimate slash 4x4
Nice! Thanks for watching!

Nice man. That's very similar to my Slash 4x4 setup also. Check out my vehicles too.
