It's the system the tracks use to count your laps. Each track has a buried wire that senses every time you pass. And when you pass, the transponder tells the system how fast your lap was, your pace, and the leader. They won't let you race without one.
The main reason is the quality of the product. Team RCE is a smaller business and rely on their quality to maintain their reputation. The RCE chassis was built for those who want to convert their slashes into competitive racers. Not saying the Traxxas lcg isn't made for racing, it's just that it has other purposes too. The flat plate of carbon fiber also makes it easier to mount electronics, changing and rearranging layouts to fit your needs.

I would get D8's over the power strokes, more oil volume, and bigger pistons.
Welcome to the club! Yes you will need double sided tape for the esc and reciever, but you could just drill holes and mount the esc on with screws. The MMP should work fine with the VXL, but if you're buying it new you might as well spend an extra $70 and just buy the whole system. The castle 4-pole motor will give more torque/speed and opperate at lower temperatures.
Thanks for the comment! You've picked the most important parts to get in aluminum, the only other things I would get are aluminum hexes and steering rack, both STRC. I have both, must haves even for a basher :)
Thanks, appreciate it. The BEC worked great with my MMP. All the servo glitching and brown outs problems were gone after I installed it. Even if you're not having glitching problems, I heard it's advised to run it anyway.
The STRC Bellcrank is awesome, a manditory upgrade in my book. After repeated hits, the stock bellcrank will start to bend and flex, giving unreliable and inconsistant steering. Being metal, the strc one will get rid of the inconsistancy and provide sharp smooth steering. The STRC one also has an ajustable servo saver so you can anjust the stiffness to your prefrence. For $25 it's a great upgrade! I never noticed no one else had a video up. If have time, I'll try to make one :)
Nice I'm new to the hobby but my passion was building motorcycles an ATVs but can't do it no more for medical reasons but my new passion is RCs its been alittle frustrating from time to time learning but anyway I love your build I jus picked up a slash ultimate you gave me a lot to think about thanks bud👍🏻
If you are in Georgia you should come down to TAPs rc raceway. It is 5 miles south of Senoia,GA. the next race there is Dec 22. the 4wd sct class is super competitive. It is awesome!
The TRCE arms that I have are $40 for one pair, $80 for all four. It's a little pricy, going by the whole protrac kit at $60, but it's definitely worth it. I feel your pain and I got tired of it. I bought 2 extra P-L arms after 2 broke, so it adds up to about the same price. You can get them at trce's website.
I was thinking the same thing. Very nice truck, tons of optional parts, and clearly very well cared for... with stock shafts. Although, there are NOW (not sure about at the time of posting.) the Tekno shafts are available in the Pro-trac length....
I don't know what else to say. Haven't seen any other Slash 4x4 users with those shocks. Just keep experimenting and testing, I have a feeling you'll get it pefect.
I still have the carriers as they where stock, so I think thats 1 degree. As for the drill bit, the mud guards 3mm screws, so either a 3mm or 3.5mm bit will work.
Ok cool. I came up with an idea to make nerf bars out of the front bumper brace on the Slash 2wd, which works well if you wanted to run nerf bars. But really, unless you race in a demolition derby, the bodies don't get hit enough for them to be necessary.
Awesome, glad it went well. At first with my Big Bores, mine bottomed out alot. I was using 60 and 80wt with losi springs. What shocks do you have? Usually just requires tuning, getting use to the truck, then figuring out oil weight and springs to use. I learned that running too thick of oil won't let the shocks cycle properly. So running lighter oil (45wt)and linear springs should work out. If not, better shocks should be your next upgrade.
Savox 1258tg isn't a HV servo... 6.0v max. Moving your lower shock mount on the a-arm isn't intended to be used to adjust ride height... thats for dampening. To adjust your ride height, use the pre-load rings or clips. Sensored operation shouldn't creat more heat...
Cool man, you're gonna love it! When it gets there, let me know if you have any questions about the install. But for the springs, mine are the HB grey springs, 60mm.
Always exciting to upload a first video! Darn UPS, hurry up! There's only 2 reviews on this chassis, and when you get your's up, you'll be getting alot of views from people wanting new videos!
Haha yah.... I've been waiting for Traxxas to realease their XO-1 type cvd axles that fit directly on the slash 4x4. They just annouced them, so I'll be getting them as soon as I can!
OK cool. The BEC is only mandatory on the Mamba Max because it has such a weak internal bec. You can use the ext. BEC on any esc as an extra precaution, but it's not needed. Same servo works fine with my RX8 without the ext. BEC.
That it weird. I guess it just comes down to oil capacity. Yours look like they're 13mm bore, while mine are 16mm. So more oil means more dampening. If you don't have one, I suggest buying shock oils in the multi pack to experiment and even mix different weights. It takes a while to get it dialed in. SC10 4x4 shocks are also 13mm, and people that use them on RCE Slashes use 35 and 40wt.
Hey, can you do a review of the strc bellcrank? How do you like it? How does it help? Im thinking of getting one, and if you do do a review, it will be the only one on youtube? Feedback will be greatly appreciated!
Those look like they're quality shocks. But the dampening of shocks depends on how many holes your piston has. Mine right now have 6, and for now it's good, but I might want to try 8 hole pistons because sometimes my shocks can't cycle quick enough on small bumps. I can run 27wt because the D8 pistons dampen alot more than other shocks. If 27 was too thin maybe try 32wt and stiffen your springs a little. But before you do that, check to see how many holes your piston has.
HEY i have a quick ??? keep in mind i'm new to the hobby, with that said my main question is what makes this chassis better than the traxxas lcg ?? anyway great vids man!!!
You can completely build a slash from parts that hasn't a single Traxxas component in it. Is it still a Slash? A question for the ages. … like the guys who restore cars and the only thing they don't replace is a piece of the frame with the serial number. Is it still a Chevy ?
i am already using the serpent 1/8 buggy shocks now lol the diameter of the shock is the same with yours in fact but why you use 27.5wt oil when you were making this video? lol thats really too thin i think cuz i have tried it yesterday lol
Hey would you recommend the Team-RCE chassis or the new LCG traxxas chassis, and what shocks would you recommend the proline power strokes or the D8's.
This slash is bad ass I've been wondering about 1/8 shocks turning mine n my sons into mt's n I just hate the big bore traxxas shocks I bought for us thanks
Honestly you should just go with the SCTE. You'll end up spending or wanting to spend too much on the slash to make it competitive. The SCTE is a much better platform designed for racing, and it's a strong truck, so it's great for bashing too.
You sound very young, but with a ton of experience lol Awesome looking setup you have there, would u say that Tenshock is comparable or even better than the Castle motors?
you could call it a cyconxc sct? lol. ,im not insulting you , I just askin why do you still call it a slash. what do you mean , its still on a slash platform
lol it's not like I designed it, they're all upgrade parts (made for a slash 4x4) so technically it's still a slash underneith, even if there's only a few stock parts left
alright , I get it now , thanks. I thought that it would be named after whoever the chassis was made by. but, like I said , I was just wondering. either way is an awesome truck and you drive it pretty friggin great. I just bought a slash 4x4 about a month ago and my wife would wanna punch me if I went out and bought something like this now. lol. maybe Christmas, yeah, that might work lol
i have a have slash and my shock have no rebound even tryed power stocks need a good shook with very stiff springs/4 a slash 4x4 6808 any modle any thoughts thankyou
How do you figure this is a Slash 4x4 when absolutely nothing left on it is from Traxxas? I'm serious, what's left on it that actually was made by Traxxas?
I have a question I have the same servo and it was glitching a lot so I put in a glitch buster, if I have a glitch buster do you think I can run a bec at the same time? I have a castle creations mamba monster 2 1/8 system in my slash 4x4 as well
that is the nicest slash have ever seen!
It's the system the tracks use to count your laps. Each track has a buried wire that senses every time you pass. And when you pass, the transponder tells the system how fast your lap was, your pace, and the leader. They won't let you race without one.

I wieighed mine recently and it was 5 lbs 10oz. Glad you decided on a system, let me know when you get!
Awesome, glad it went well. At first with my Big Bores, mine bottomed out alot. I was using 60 and 80wt with losi springs.

Nothing has ever got stuck in there, but dirt/mud get on it from time to time. It doesn't affect anything though.
Savox 1258tg isn't a HV servo... 6.0v max.

Yes only one bearing is included. It's the main drive bearing for the slipper/center diff.
Cool man, you're gonna love it! When it gets there, let me know if you have any questions about the install.
But for the springs, mine are the HB grey springs, 60mm.
Dude that thing is sick as hell. Thanks for sending me the link!

Thanks! I'm using the Tekno V3 buggy chassis guards, they're about $7.
OK cool. The BEC is only mandatory on the Mamba Max because it has such a weak internal bec. You can use the ext. BEC on any esc as an extra precaution, but it's not needed. Same servo works fine with my RX8 without the ext. BEC.
Thanks. I'm looking forwards to it!
and can you make a video about testing out your shocks by throwing it on to the ground?I really want to know how tall will it starts to bottom out;P
That it weird. I guess it just comes down to oil capacity. Yours look like they're 13mm bore, while mine are 16mm. So more oil means more dampening.

Yah I could do that. Would you want the gopro level with surface I drop it on so you can see if it bottems out?
Cool man! I'll be waiting!
Hey, can you do a review of the strc bellcrank? How do you like it? How does it help? Im thinking of getting one, and if you do do a review, it will be the only one on youtube? Feedback will be greatly appreciated!
thats the same that i found!
GREAT
and is the BEC needed for the mamba only?

Clean Ride bud, What is that chassis protector youre using? I like it
@CyconXc aite ty man, i think ill hold a bit on the aluminm ones. bit to pricy
Sweet. I see it. How is it running without nerf bars?
yeah man! you are so awesome!!thanks alot
HEY i have a quick ??? keep in mind i'm new to the hobby, with that said my main question is what makes this chassis better than the traxxas lcg ?? anyway great vids man!!!
oh my god i finally installed the chassis lol
but will your truck bottom out easily?mine always bottom out.
Since your slipper/pinion gear is not covered have you had and debree get stuck in there.
You can completely build a slash from parts that hasn't a single Traxxas component in it. Is it still a Slash? A question for the ages. … like the guys who restore cars and the only thing they don't replace is a piece of the frame with the serial number. Is it still a Chevy ?

good vid man, very well done!!! ive got the cc bec on order for my cc mamba monster. has it worked well for you?
you've done so many mods, can you still consider this a Slash?
You should try SPC batteries... they are relletively good and cheap
the most stacked traxxas slash in the whole friggen world
Hey would you recommend the Team-RCE chassis or the new LCG traxxas chassis, and what shocks would you recommend the proline power strokes or the D8's.
And other thing..
Is there any bearing included in this package?
Nice truck!
Looks great, I’m gonna look into one of these chassis I like ur content I just subbed
This slash is bad ass I've been wondering about 1/8 shocks turning mine n my sons into mt's n I just hate the big bore traxxas shocks I bought for us thanks
You can search Team-RCE lcg slash 4x4, and you can find my build thread on the traxxas forums.
Oh man!!!
just ordered the chassis!!!
but one more question...
are those springs 74gf?
Yo can you still get these chassis or similar?
Honestly you should just go with the SCTE. You'll end up spending or wanting to spend too much on the slash to make it competitive. The SCTE is a much better platform designed for racing, and it's a strong truck, so it's great for bashing too.
You sound very young, but with a ton of experience lol Awesome looking setup you have there, would u say that Tenshock is comparable or even better than the Castle motors?
hey how much were ur arms front and rear and have bent on u yet? my proline arm broke on the mount again -.- really pissing me off
With stock driveshafts?!?!
just curious, but, how is this a slash? I see slash bumpers, but that's it. why do you call this a slash when there nothing slash about it
totally get what you're saying, but it still started as a slash. Stock parts or not, it's still on a slash platform. what would you call it?
you could call it a cyconxc sct? lol. ,im not insulting you , I just askin why do you still call it a slash. what do you mean , its still on a slash platform

Big oof
excuse me,I want to ask what is the diameter of the holes on the shock pistons?
It's all in the description :)
What is a BEC do I know it hooks your servo to the Esc but I don't really know what it is good for?
what esc and motor are you running and what gearing do you have
Do you have a list off all the parts you have put into the car and the code if possible?
Vehicle specific or is there only one.
My Slash isn't even set up half as good as this truck. What oil should I run in Powerstrokes or even stockers?
Where can I find a after market chassis for the 4x4 slash ? Been looking everywhere
what weight oil are you running in your center/front/rear diff
Is having a lower kv better or worse for racing?
What brand and wighet of diff oil and shock oil do you use?
What is the website you got the chassie off I chat find there website and you copy the Link to the website page of the chassi please
They're six hole pistons, each hole being 1.5mm in diameter.
What kind of blinker fluid do you use?
What steering servo is good for bashing?
If you want more opinions, search team rce lcg in google and check out some threads on the Traxxas and RCShortcourse forums.
what should I get a slash 4x4 ultimate lcg or a scte 4x4 rtr for racing and bashing
is that chassis better than the lcg for on road?
what does a transponder do
looks just like mine
All that and stock axles???
can i get the part # 4 the shooks and bootom peices of shock
What cervo do you have
what is the little red box up front
Are you racing this car?
What do i need for racing the main things
@generalfield woops i ment a arms
You're right, I misspoke.
There's only one, the part number is TKR400010.
i have a have slash and my shock have no rebound even tryed power stocks need a good shook with very stiff springs/4 a slash 4x4 6808 any modle any thoughts thankyou
How do you figure this is a Slash 4x4 when absolutely nothing left on it is from Traxxas? I'm serious, what's left on it that actually was made by Traxxas?
Nothing with all the parts he took off he could build another slash 4x4 for free
+Matt Guidice he still has the slash differential 😂😂 oh and body mouths
Nope the body mounts are RPM
And the turnbuckle/camber links
Turn buckles, camberlinks, diffs, and axles.
How much money did u put into it it must be a lot
Too much lol, now that I look back I spent waaaay too much on this thing. It was at least $500+ over time.
I have a question I have the same servo and it was glitching a lot so I put in a glitch buster, if I have a glitch buster do you think I can run a bec at the same time? I have a castle creations mamba monster 2 1/8 system in my slash 4x4 as well
6holes with 1.5 mm holes too:)
if those parts were from Traxxas I would say OK so with that said can you get a slash with Traxxas up grade parts and compete
what upgrads do u rec for raceing i got a LCG 4x4 just wandering if its even worth it
jjleadley STRC bellcrank, prospec shocks, and a center diff.
is the traxxas lcg chassis good or that one u got better ?
Can you still get the team rce lcg chassis anymore?
Sorry but they don't sell them anymore, they stopped producing all their parts about a year ago.
Where can i get a chassis like that?
Sorry but they stopped production on them :(
does this even count as a slash?
nope, mine were 1/8 buggy shocks and the bore is same as yours :)
