  • Jackie and Bobby explain why God gave us his only son, and how we can celebrate this enormous gift.
For Catholics, Christmas isn’t just a one day celebration of gifts and decorations. Instead, it’s a celebration of the incarnation of God become man, and begins the Christmas season in the Church. It’s a time to recognize that God sent his one and only son to be with us on earth, so that we can spend eternity with him in heaven.
It’s also a great time to think about our own lives and what the incarnation has brought us. Christmas is a celebration of light breaking through the darkness of the world, opening up the possibility of eternal life, and introducing a joy that we could have never known without Christ. Think about what your life would be like if you had never experienced God… if you had never witnessed Christ in your life. How can we celebrate this gift and this capacity for joy each day?
No one ever imagined that our Savior would come out of Nazareth, or that he would be the son of a simple carpenter. Who are the people in your life who you’ve written off, or don’t see Christ in? Pray for them this Christmas, and all year long, that they may come to know Christ to sainthood, and share him with all they meet.

"God wants to be in communion with us" but its not that easy. To be in communion with God takes a lot of hard work. And for some it takes more.
Yes Jesus was the good shepherd. I think the best way to encourage is to speak of work, speak of those who pray and work hard, relentless dedication to Jesus, simple living. That is salvation.

Merry Christmas. I want to hear Sister Miriam James' testimony. I sometimes wish I could become a sister or a nun. Is it my calling though? There are people who I would be utterly shocked if they turned their lives around and completely followed God. I shouldn't think anyone is hopeless because I am hopeless in some ways and trapped in bad habits.

I know people think being in a religious order is a restrictive life but I find it freeing. I've probably romanticized becoming a nun as if they still do not fall into sin and battle temptations. Confession is offered regularly and they attend mass daily.

I still definitely like looking at handsome men. I love romance novels. I want to be a young adult fiction author. I wonder if I would have to give that all up to become a religious sister or nun. I've always feared I wouldn't be a good wife for various reasons. I guess I should listen to my calling.

@@mariananaufel8985 I really have to discern if this is truly God's calling or my attempt to avoid the responsibility of marriage and children. There is a lot to give up if I want to follow God as a sister or nun. I thought about it more deeply. Could I honestly be happy living a convent having to obey my superiors always? It is worth discerning I guess. Or never being allowed to read anything except religious stories. That's a lot to give up.

I'm 14 and i am in the process of converting to catholicism (I'm in RCIA) But I'm the only religious person in my family, apart from my mum, who isn't as devout as me. At school, all people talk about is vulgarity. I'm not judging them because I am technically worse. I keep silent when I know I need to speak. I constantly shrink back from doing God's will, out of fear. I conform to this world and I hate that I do. I don't have any Catholic friends, the only talks I get with catholics are with my 2 parish priests, and a Catechist (who are all lovely by the way) but I still don't know them very well so I feel like I can't confide in them yet. I don't want to be lukewarm, I want to be on fire for God and not care what anyone thinks and I hate that I let myself be ashamed of the Church's teachings. Does anyone have any advice for me? I assure you it would be very welcomed. Please pray for me so i can have the desire to do God's will above my own. Thank you for reading this far if you have any way and I pray that anyone who reads this will have a wonderful rest of the Christmas season. God bless x

Pray for friends that are similar to you, ask the help spirit and the holy family to be with you. You sound like you will stay the course and stay close to God...you may bring others by your example ..they may want some of your joy! Pray the rosary and ask for strength. When the early Christians informed the Jews that Yahweh had a son..they were totally bewildered..they didn't even know that he was in a relationship... Seriously..it came as a total slap in the face to them when those Romans inferred that Yahweh was no different to any other pagan god like Zeus who had Apollo with a mortal woman....

Good question. However, sorry to say I am no longer convinced. I was a Christian for decades and researching it more to best find this god I researched my way out of religion. I do think it's true reading the bible fully many times is a good way out. Don't you think it's a strange question about this god giving away his son. If you take god and jesus as different things (most people think jesus is god by the way) then it goes like this. God sends his son to earth for 30 ish years (Most of these we know absolutely nothing about by the way, could't be that important) Then after god gets his son back again (or himself depending on where you sit with the god=jesus thing). So I'm not really seeing such a big sacrifice. What did god miss out on, 30 years. That's nothing to god. I mean they have been back together now for the last 2000 years. I'm just not seeing it. Why did god feel the need after the previous stuff up of the flood (that went wrong clearly) and the garden and talking serpent (that also went wrong) to sacrifice himself to himself when he could just forgive. It's a comedy of errors to be honest.
    OK stay safe.

What about god's other sons? Haven't you read the Bible?
Genesis 6:2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
Genesis 6:4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

"Son" of God doesn't mean that Jesus is a "Son" in the common sense of the word, an "ADDITIONAL individual" like a son who comes from a part of his mother (an ovum). God having "a progeny" (additional sons and/or daughters ) would be NONSENSE. Here "Son" means that He DERIVES from the ENTIRETY of God. "DERIVING" from God means that God lost his omnipotence, to become like a NORMAL man (as disclosed by the gospels): the Son.
If the Son COMPLETELY derives from God, this of course means that the almighty God does NOT exist when Jesus exists. Jesus existed during the whole mankind existence, thus the almighty God's existence is PRIOR to mankind ("the world has not known you"). Indeed, in order to get the destiny of humanity under FULL CONTROL, the almighty God had to make all his work - his decisions - already during the period of time PRECEDING THE BIRTH of mankind. This means NO real-time work by God now! Due to his omnipotence God was able to complete his work in that period of time and then He became the Son. Therefore God does NOT exist now and no one has ever met Him ("no one has ever seen God"). But God is still here, even if only in a LIMITED FORM: in the form of a spirit ("God is a spirit"). This means that only the RELATIONSHIP with Him exists: it could be likened to having someone on the phone, who is far away, unreachable in another far dimension. All this means that no God's Helper (the "Lord who gives life") exists, is an invention.

And the word was made flesh.
This was the beginning of the sonship. This sonship was the Christ. Jesus Never called Mary mother. Even until the Christ was offered up and shed his blood for our sin. No one else shed the blood.
    Matthew 1:25
And knew her NOT TILL she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name Jesus. Key word “ NOT TILL “
My God is only one eternal not three eternal.

Jesus called Mary woman. Woman is the mother of all. Mary is the mother of all authentic members of the body of Christ. Jesus gave us Mary as our mother at the foot of the cross. Yes, Mary is our mother and we call her mother, the mother of God because Jesus is God.

I pray we edify one another and not take offense. Amen
I hear you, so let’s take it to scripture. The Bible has to confirms itself in the Old Testament and the New Testament.
      2 CORINTHIANS 13:1
This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.
So can you find anywhere in the Old Testament where God would give Mary as the mother of the church. Jesus however fulfilled all the scriptures/prophecies. Amen
Also there’s no scripture of Jesus never calling Mary mother. At the wedding of Cana Jesus said: “And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does this have to do with me?
Also God has not beginning and no ending. Please listen carefully. Mary is not the mothers of God. However she is the mother of the Christ.
      Philippians 2:5-8
      7. But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
This is beginning of the sonship, “made in the likeness of man” Emanuel=God with us.
To say Mary is the mother of God, here does that place.
God is the almighty the creator of all.
Genius 1:1 I. The beginning God created the Heavens and the earth
      Isaiah 43:10
“Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.”
This is Old Testament and so in the New Testament so as we in Christ become witness through the blood of Jesus fulfilling the true church in the New Testament.
      This the new wine/new birth
      2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
      To be alive in Christ
      Thank you Jesus

Let me ask. Do you know why Jesus’s body was not found. You would of made a shrine of it too. As you did the linen burial cloth. You miss the message of how you can receive Jesus Christ in your life and glorify him.
      ◄ Isaiah 42:8 ►
I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images
How do you Glorify Him in the word of God know working through you. Your witness
