    Again a huge thanks to Nick at DGDG for tossing over the keys to this thing! I had originally gone to drive the Lyriq so I apologize for the less than ideal stats on this thing. After driving it seems to have roughly a 180kWh usable pack and 830hp. Just insane!! Enjoy the quick drive

      I kind of agree with you Kyle as I think this is a well executed vehicle for what it is and it will sell in such low numbers that it's probably not going to destroy too much of the environment. I could see downsizing this and using some of the technology and styling to make a very cool compact SUV with a different mission than the Hummer. GM has great designs in their EV's but they've gotten such a slow start that I'll probably be buying something else just because they can't make enough of them. How did they have the Volt and the Bolt and then let their competitors come out with the SUV EV's that most people wan't years before them?

      I think you and many others of us have very similar taste in vehicles. I love ludicrous vehicles. I am a 270 lb guy that drove a fiat 500 for years. I now have a Bolt EUV. The Hummer EV is not really my style but I think it is cool and sort of fitting that they have turned one of the most inefficient gas vehicles into an EV. I know the hubbub about making one of these probably causes additional pollution but if I charged this vehicle with my solar panels, it isn't really any worse in terms of carbon impact than my Bolt. Of course it would drain all of the energy my panels can create!

    This massive off-road EV is marvelous and I say that as someone who thought the H2 and H3 ICE versions were the epitome of embarrassing. The ICE versions were nothing but a chunk body over a Tahoe frame that added unnecessary weight, so people could pretend they were like Arnold who drove the real thing (H1). Now we're far enough out to be removed from that blatant marketing ploy and the EV versions have been designed from the ground up as quite capable, go anywhere with crazy amounts of power mini monster trucks.

    106K puts it right into the space of the Rivian R1S. I expect rice will be close to 150-175K when it gets into people's hands. If you can actually get it for 106K, then it is a great deal and Rivian R1S has a lot to be worried about.

    Does anyone think that GM will be able to produce enough Ultium batteries for Hummer AND Silverado AND Lyriq AND Equinox over the next few years? And their strategy of long range from huge batteries means it’s harder to make any or all of them in significant numbers. Say what you will about Tesla (I own a Mach e), but their strategy of smaller batteries with better charging infrastructure has enabled them to produce more cars faster.

    • @2phonesbabyken

      Lyriq & Hummer are low-volume cars and both use similar batteries to the Silverado as far as I know. I don’t think it’ll be an issue

      Well they currently have one battery factory running at partial capacity. In a year they will have two battery factories running at full capacity (and second is bigger than first). In two years they will have three battery factories running. And a fourth US battery plant is currently in planning partnering with Samsung SDI. So once they get rolling there is a tonne of batteries coming.

    • @Snerdles
      @Snerdles ปีที่แล้ว

      The trouble with a minivan is you have to ditch foldable seats for removable ones to fit batteries underneath. People generally aren't willing to leave seats behind when they are used to flipping seats down for cargo.

    • @jmilleronaire
      @jmilleronaire ปีที่แล้ว

      That's true, my minivan can (has) carry a considerable stack of 4x8 plywood with the tailgate closed, a feat few modern pickups can manage. However, the main use for the minivan is to haul my large-ish family around, dealing with the seats would be at most an occasional hassle all things considered.

I'm enjoying the charge on solar feature Tesla just released so I want to stay within the Tesla ecosystem due to the software features. Because you talk about how bad it is for the environment and I get it -but please remember ITS AN EV.. This is still wayyy wayyy better than an ICE vehicle - especially a Hummer. It's just sad I've heard rumors they're going to stop making it because of poor sales.

    • @G-Rated
      @G-Rated ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s nothing but a rumor. It hasn’t even been enough time for *gm* to make such a decision as there is only been 1 single trim of the Hummer released to the public and that’s the top Edition 1 trim level which is fully loaded. It would be like Mercedes canceling the EQS because the Maybach trim’s sales are low.
      There are lower trims of the Hummer coming which will drastically increase sales figures. As OOS stated, the used Hummer E1s are going for *above* sticker. That should provide some insight on the mere demand of this vehicle. Tesla doesn’t even have this type of demand for a single model.

      @@KaiPonte So you’re a delusional Ford fanboy, got it. To compare the build quality of a 2016 Malibu to a 2022 Mach-E or 2023 Hummer EV, you’re purposefully being ignorant and wanting to believe Ford and Toyota have superior quality in comparable vehicles today although it isn’t true.
      The quality of your Mach-E doesn’t even come close to that of a Cadillac Lyriq for the same money or this Hummer EV. Neither is your Mach-E nearly as complicated of a build as this Hummer. But I digress. 😂

      @@G-Rated believe what you will. I write from experience.
      As for the Ford, I am ver happy with the build quality. I’ve only had it none months and 16,000 miles but it is a rock solid vehicle. While I like what Mary Barra has done with GM, I can’t continue with them. I do still want a ‘96 Impala SS and a ‘65 to ‘69 Corvair. But those will have to wait.
      By the way, I also own two Toyota gas cars. A 1993 and 1999 Lexus SC400. Both have over 200,000 miles. The ‘99 is not exactly my daily driver bit close.

    This car REALLY looks like a POWER WHEELS. All they need is a huge seat that sticks out the sunroof and you drive it from the FLYING BRIDGE.

    I think it’s cool, way better than the truck. Look, if this is your daily driver, you’re probably a bit of a tool. But as an occasional weekend warrior third car, it’s unique and fun. Yeah, conspicuous consumption, but frankly that’s the point.

    Its funny to see how their most expensive EV shares parts with their most affordable Bolt EV/EUV . So far the wiper stock, rearview mirror and regen on-demand paddle.

    I don't mind them making stuff like this. That said, given all the trouble they are having making enough Ultium cells for the mass market vehicles it makes me wonder if it would be a better use of their resources to use those cells for Blazer EV, etc. Although I guess these much higher margin vehicles help them recoup their investment sooner.
