      My homie had a 2006 legacy turbo gt and we used to always mob on backroads and kinda race, more or less spirited driving.Don't judge me but I have a 2001 Saturn LW300 (W for wagon). It's manual swapped. The L100 and L200 came with manuals but the v6 wasn't, but u can take a saab 9-5 v6 manual trans and swap it . The car is a rebadged 99 saab 9-3 4 door. Out of all the cars that I've driven that have been considered sporty, good handling or a driver's car, that little Saturn surprised me, and it's faster than the specs u Google, they say it only has 195 hp but it's faster than the Camry/Avalon, Altima, and the accord v6(at the time), and they all make more power than the Saturn and weigh generally the same. Toyota made 240ish hp and the accord made 265. Sorry for this long winded comment. But the cars dynamics, handling, and character surprised me when I picked it up as just something cheap and to get good gas mileage.

      Not sure how the STI is but i have a base wrx and it was a nightmare until i put an ots tune on it. the stock throttle mapping was non linear and like 40% depression of the pedal was nearly 100% wide open throttle. Made it unbelievably sensitive to give it the right amount of gas into first gear, and you end up stalling it trying not to over gas it. The tune set the throttle mapping to linear and i never had that issue again.

  • @wage6681
    @wage6681 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I can say that the maintenance other than spark plugs, is hella easy. Everything is literally just on top of the engine. And that noise your hearing is probably power steering related. Common issue on these unfortunately. Only usually happens when you're like trying to parallel park or something. If you're going to be tracking the car, be prepared to be replacing an engine fore warning. That car doesn't have the type Ra block in it. For track use, make sure you get an air oil separator, and cylinder 4 cooling mod. I would also go fbo. FMIC, intake, turbo inlet, downpipe, Cobb 20g or bloush 1.5xtr, some fuel rails, and 1300 or so injectors, aem 340lph, 3 port ebcs, and a good dyno tune. You shouldn't be pushing the car too much on a setup like that. But again, non type Ra block could be sketchy.

You are missing out on one of the best attributes on wrx/sti driving and that is shredding in the snow! I'm in Canada and we get a fair amount so this is based of real life; these cars are hilarious in the snow. Turn off traction control (not track mode, fully off) and this car makes snow a joke. Confidence inspiring is one that's thrown around a lot. It is a great total experience and can be pushed harder in more conditions, takes corners like a go cart. Really I think only Porsche can beat the experience in all out cornering performance and thats likely because it also has a boxer engine with that low center of gravity.

    Alot of people have been switching over to awd because of the platform being well rounded. Im glad to have kept my 04 with everything fbo tuned and ripping at 400hp. Everyone talked down on subi being garbage but i feel like its more of neglecting and abusing a 4 cylinder because of the notorious motors like k20/k24s having notoriously being thrown bricks at it and still chugging. Boxer motors are for those with patience and willing to spend their money to craft if not one of the top awd manufacturers that you see on the street often as of today. I feel a brew coming where everyone has a high demand for awd cars like subarus, audi,srt grand cherokees because of its overall use on a daily basis.

    mayb drew will come around on g37's now lmao the sedans are awesome. As a physics student who lives in Chicago, the awd is crucial and the automatic is not too annoying considering most of my driving is 3 miles and its constant stopping. Drew, you should build a g 35x/37x sedan with a manual trans (cd009) and get the 2 jz in that mf. When I graduate and start making money oooooohhhh wee, hell yeah brotha. In my level of life, the most id wanna do on my g is an ark catback, takeda cold air intakes and mayb headers (all at once and tune it ofc), the speakers bump (bose), the heated seats are dope, and if you don't drive like a shmuck you can make them look great. There are 2 types of previous owners, either an old person who bought it straight up back then or it has a salvage/rebuilt title, I spent the lil extra bit of money to get mine from a Cadillac dealership and the story is well known. HQ's are dumb reliable compared to everything in its price range (lexus es 350 / is 350 are more expensive and not as quick). I'm a salty infinti boy at the end of the day, love ur vids tho be safe man

      Agreed. The V36 chassis is one of the most comfortable, yet performance oriented luxury sport sedans at its price point. I plan on just doing a few bolt-ons, a tune, murdered out, & a soft drop & call it a day

It's a fun car that looks cool with a huge aftermarket so you can make it your own. I love american v8 power but the Japanese imports can be fast and fun.

    Compared to other newer cars, the STI is still great. People focus on the engine always but the drivetrain is and always has been the best part of the STI. 3 LSD's and an electronic center diff in such a cheap car is amazing. Plus the STI 6 speed is VERY strong in stock form.. like 800whp drag launches on slicks strong.

    Now I really need to get myself an STI or WRX. I had a feeling these cars could be fun for a daily enough handling and power. The fact Drew kept it stock motor-wise proved to me that you don't need performance mods to make it better because in reality it just ups your chances of things breaking down (unreliable)

    • @FunTimeWithSouls

      From someone who got a 2019 WRX brand new from the dealer, built it to pretty much you can without replacing the block and just recently “upgraded” to a STI get an STI. You will not regret it.

    Drew from one sti owner to another. if you plan to track your car get an oil pickup and baffled pan. In long corners you have a chance of oil starvation from oil sloshing in the pan.
