    I love it when I watch a video that really makes me feel as though I've learned something!! Great comparison of a huge selection of products AND great information on various ways to use them.
    I'll also admit, I did not know that about leather conditioners... As someone who has only had one car with leather interior, which I only owned for 6 months, I've never really looked into the products that much. But now you've made me want leather seats just so that I can look after them 🤣🤣

      Glad you liked it mate, I was never that bothered with leather until I sat in one OMG they’re so comfy!!, that was me hooked, on the other hand some of the pleather that’s used in cars reminds me of 1970’s vinyl that stuck to your legs wearing shorts in summer 🤣
      We nearly went for the top model of MGZS but the pleather was so nasty we actually WANTED the cloth upholstery 😅

    Interesting to see the differences with foam,liquid,brush and pad. Great point about the ‘conditioner’ too it may not technically be the right term but still adding some protection so can only be a good thing. Looking forward to the next part 👍🏼

    Great video and thanks! Consise with a good range of similar products to cover all budgets.
    I have very light grey leather seats which are perforated so use Maguire's GoldClass as unlike many (which are white) it goes on clear and flashes off without leaving any white chalky product in the perforations.
    When I bought the car Honda CRZ, the original owner had never cleaned the seats so they actually looked light beige! I did a half/half comparison clean and you could really see the difference after two applications.

    • @GMDetails
      @GMDetails  ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow David , that sounds a project and a half!!, first you’d need to determine the condition of the leather , any scuffs or abrasions , cracks or tears then the best start is pick a leather cleaner from that 10 you like the look of and I’d advise a brush for cleaning as that’s the most delicate way , horse hair is best

    Great Video, what do you recommend for bmw black dakota leather - i want to achieve a super matte brand new showroom finish no gloss

    • @GMDetails
      @GMDetails  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, if you look at my playlists (Leather Repair Co) , I actually cleaned my black Dakota leather BMW F30 using the Leather Repair LRC1 cleaner exceptionally well, the tip to perfection is using a damp cloth to wipe away the residue from the cleaner instead of a dry microfibre.
      I was really impressed with the AutoGlym cleaner too for the price it’s amazing but simple down to sheer cleaning power alone , the leather repair company LRC1 is my favourite , you’ll find links to the products in the description of this video

  • @fretho8410

    Great video. Could I ask what the difference between these dedicated leather cleaners and a simple APC diluted sufficiently is? Has the latter been demonstrated to have any longterm detrimental effects?

    • @GMDetails
      @GMDetails  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Brilliant question, an APC is such a general product which could possibly be caustic or have a much higher ph level , even diluted they could simply dry out the surface leading to premature cracking or wear, especially using with these thermoplastic scrubber pads.
      APC’s can be used for wheel cleaning and pre wash degreasers , I certainly wouldn’t want to use one on my leather interior
      Long term detrimental effects?, drying / cracking / colour loss / clear coat failure are all possible depending on the APC used , I do believe you’re just better off using a dedicated leather cleaner to be safe

    Hi I’ve got a 2018 bmw 4 series with the white dimpled I presume paint coated leather seats
    Would you recommend the leather company cleaner and protection or the garage therapy cleaner and protection or can you mix and match
    I’ve got some autoglym leather cleaner which seems to clean really well but the balm is sticky so on top of that could you use a different protector or should you keep to the same company for the cleaner and protection
    I’m a decorator and we rarely if ever mix brands together just wondered if it’s the same for leathers
    Great video as usual mate👍would welcome your advice thanks Chris

    • @GMDetails
      @GMDetails  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Chris, in my opinion the LRC cleaner & protection is the best there is , the Garage Therapy one is good but more expensive and the cost isn’t worth it again, only my opinion.
      Never use a balm on modern leather , as you’ve found it makes it sticky!!, balm is actually better for really old leather to keep it supple, so a cleaner & a protector is best for your white BMW leather

    Fantastic video and info in this one. Once again the attention to detail in the camera work is so good.
    I do wonder how many just crack out the Surfex or other APC and just get it cleaned. Sure enough I'm sure it's looks clean after but iv seen so many dry and cracked leathers that are less than 5 years old.

    • @GMDetails
      @GMDetails  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Andy . Yes that’s my point entirely , most APC’s are salt based so have a tendency to dry stuff out like you’ve witnessed , this is what gets me with valeters using cheaper chemicals to ‘get the job done cheaply’ it may be a while down the road before it gets noticed but proper products for the job will help prevent damage over a longer period

    I think you missed one of the best cleaners in Pol star I use it from 5:1 to 10:1. As for alcantara it’s not actually it’s proper name, it’s micro suede and it’s a form of leather, alcantara is the company that makes it.

    • @GMDetails

      Alcantara tho is NOT leather it’s not micro suede but microfibre fabric and can be cleaned using fabric cleaners, but it is made to mimic suede tho 👍

      @@GMDetails antique leather you mean retro/vintage cars ?

    • @GMDetails
      @GMDetails  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes mate, older cars you have to take a little more care with the leather due to cracks and wear, some manufacturers used aniline leather while others used pigmented or painted leather, a simple test to see whether it’s aniline or pigmented is to drip a couple of drops of water onto it, if it absorbs straight away it’s likely to be aniline and you’ll need a different product to any I tested in the video, if it beads it’s good to use the leather repair product on it, just don’t scrub with any of the new scrub pads they are not safe on older leather
