  • Just a fun saw comparision of 2 current 60cc saws on the market.
the 562xp should be faster but the question is how much faster?
    thanks for watching.

I bought a CS590 and sent it to Iowa Performance Saw's for a muffler mod and retune and it really woke it up. Really happy I decided to go with Echo, it's no speed cutting saw but it's a torque monster and makes a great firewood saw

My personal saw is an Echo 590. At work we have a couple of 562xp's. I just spent the last week working on a thinning project and brought my 590 as a backup saw. The Husky definitely screams and you can work real fast with it but when it came to low stumping, the torque of the Echo seemed to make it cut better. Overall, for many people I think the Echo is a better value but it's not quite in the same class as the 562xp.

My first personal saw was the Echo 590. I've ran it HARD with the company for 2.5 yrs from the tree tops to the root ball. It's on its 2nd sprocket and 2nd 20" bar and its still just getting better. Starts easy. Has always taken a long time to warm up. One of its best qualities is that it runs and cuts GREAT in 100+°F. My Stihls start getting quirky in the heat. Got rid of my Stihl 441 because it wouldn't run in the heat.
The 590 w/20" bar is my go to saw in the bucket when I need a bigger saw. The lower rpm and good torque offers better control when you need it. I rarely choose my Stihl 362 over the 590 for bucket work.
I have several saws now, but the 590 is still kinda my favorite.
I recently got a set of bigger dogs for it and put a 24" bar and skip tooth chain on it and it's my favorite saw all over again.

@@hevesat1920 Take a good look at the Echo 620, brother.
It's the "Pro" saw upgrade of the Echo 590. There's a million vids of it.
I wouldn't steer a man away from his preference but I would show him a good option.
I've never done more than start a couple Husqvarna saws so I have no viable opinion of them. There are no Husqy dealers near me. They don't show up in pawn shops here. The only thing I don't like about them just from looking at them is I don't understand why they needed to put a primer bulb on their bigger saws.
It may take some intuition and wisdom to understand this:
      Faster is not always better.
Lower RPM = My 590 will keep a chain sharper longer than my Stihl 362. Bars last longer on my 590 than my 362. Tanks of gas last longer in my 590 than my 362. In knotty, irregular, variable grain wood, my 590 stays in the cut better, aka "Holds a tooth" better, if you know what I mean. My 590 is always smooth and consistent as long as I do my part hand sharpening chains. It's also forgiving in that aspect. Yes, my Stihl 362 cuts a bit faster but at the expense of more time sharpening, dressing my bar more often, buying a new bar sooner. Things have to be closer to "perfect" to get that smooth performance.
Have you ever noticed the chain on a pole saw seems to stay sharp "forever"? It's because it's turning much lower rpm than any chainsaw.
I love all my power saws, man. Several others not mentioned here.
Anyways, when I wear out my Echo CS-590, I would want an Echo 620 to replace it. It doesn't seem my 590 is gonna go down anytime soon. Might have to buy me up a 620 on a sale and stow it away.
      Happy cuttin to ya. 🌲🌳🌴

And the difference in performance between that and my 562 is negligible and while the echos might have lower rpms they have way more torque , the difference in cut time with my 620 vs my 562 in a 40" round of oak with a 24" bar on both was about 1 second and the echo had not yet had it's carb tuned

Great comparison. One small feature that I've found useful on the Echo is the pull handle can be used to open the Oil and Gas caps. I like this because I hate having to carry the swench on my person, while sawing, because it is always jabbing me when I bend over. :P. Can't wait to see if porting the Echo will help. I actually like the torq of the echo, I was flush cutting some huge maple stumps (36-45 " dia) with the echo and needed that torque. Thanks for the great vids.

Came over from buckin’s channel. Seen a few videos and like the content. You said the 562 ran like a ported saw….The thing you have to remember is when the 562 and 550 came out, they were ground breaking in terms of power at that time. They ran like ported saws out of the box. A 550xp ran like a 361/036/262xp and the 562xp ran like a 441/440/372xp with much less weight. My 562 with a muffler mod would be 1/2 a second faster than my 372 in hardwoods under 18”. After that the 70cc saws muscle it out. Ported is totally different as a 372 with a good port is almost unbeatable. I no longer use them professionally, just 8-10 cord a year for heat, but I find myself running the 372’s and larger saws less and less. The 562xp wears a 20” in hardwood country but I’ve ran a 24” on it and it was plenty adequate. The 550 will pull a 24” in softwoods no problem, hardwoods is iffy. Bar oil is the issue in that guy. The 562 is plenty light enough to use all day, climb and not be wore out. Prior to getting mine in 2012 I ran ported ms360’s and 361’s as my “smaller saw”. Now the primary saws I use most are the 550 and 562. I used to use a ported 372 with a 20”. 😂. She now wears a 28. Love the sound of that 266 Buckin has. Looks like she rips too. I’ve got a minty 268 laying around I need to get running again.

Excellent video, thanks. Just a side note but I over work my CS590 like mad. I use it on stuff way too big for it, I use it on the job and have for 3 years. I've taken down trees more than double the bar length with it, (when you're carving your hinge instead of cutting it lol) and it is still in amazing condition 3 years later. Still starts with one or two tugs. Need to get something bigger but money's tight and I am a notorious penny pincher and so far this has handled everything I've put in front of it year round. I have 5 saws, all Echo's, but this one is my only felling\bucking saw and it has been amazing.

I’ve cut with my echo 590 for quite a while and it’s been a dead reliable saw from day one. I replaced the ignition and carburetor with ones for a 620 and gained a few RPM and modified the muffler but that’s the extent of it. I’ve no complaints and she pulls a 28” bar just fine in what I get into but it’d be a bit much in big hardwood I’m sure. Anyway it runs with the big saws just fine. She made me a believer in the echos friends! Good saws for the buck and the go to work everyday like we do.

Echo makes a good product but they’re more of a premium homeowner saw rather than a commercial grade saw. The echo fanboys love to talk about how their saws are professional grade. Take any echo saw and put it next to a comparable Stihl or Husky pro saw and you can pretty easily see the difference.

For fleet use, saws like the 620 and 7310 are really robust and economical. A self employed arborist may choose to buy the "best" gear because it's somewhat personalized. For fleet use, Echo often is a pragmatic business decision.

Good comparison but when I checked the prices, the Husky was twice the price of the Echo. With such a difference in price, value becomes a important buying decision. These two saws aren't even really in the same class - at least price-wise. You sold me on the Husky until I saw the price difference. This comparison is a great example of diminishing returns. On the other hand, for someone who uses the saws very frequently, the Husky may be a better value in the long run. But for most of us, I didn't see any advantages of the Husky that make it worth twice the price.

Can get a filter upgrade pack now for a 560xp and 562xp. Upgraded my 2015 560 to the new filter and cover. They are supposed to keep the fine stuff out of the carb. Its easier to clean also no need to remove the filter. Can just access around to blow it clean. Comes with a new top cover with that vent hole on the side, new mounting bracket for the filter and the new filter. Got mine for 49euros from the local husqvarna dealer.

I prefer to run a 24 on the 620 and a 20 on the 562 they can both pull a24or 28 but it's just seems to me that the 620 has an easier job of it , and the benefit of the 562 is the auto tune keeps it running at its highest performance however if you are decent with adjusting a carburetor than save the extra money and go with the echo the performance difference between the two is negligible however you will absolutely love either of them and if either one was my only saw I would be fine for pretty much anything short of a Sequoya or red wood

so the echo 590 is not the pro model the 620p is the pro-version so it would be interesting to see the specs

Is this with the stock carb and coil back in the 590?

It seems like it's obvious the faster rpm saw is going to cut noticeably faster in soft wood.
Not sure why go thru this comparison without running them thru oak or maple....
Put a long bar on the husky and see how the high rpms fail. I run 32" skip on a 600p echo and it pulls it Exactly as well as 20"...
Like to see husky try that on for size. And then time them 💁‍♂️

Love my 562. Can’t keep crank bearings in them though

Have a new 621sx at work. Its a horrible saw. Its big and wide feels bad in the hand. Also it cant pull even a 16inch bar in dry pine. It has no snappyness and just feels like a tractor in wood. Trying to cut notches on logs was one of the worst experiences i have had. The 254xp, 359, 357xp, 560xp and a jonsered 2260 all cut 10 times better and feel great in the hand. The 357 and 560 are in a league of its own in comparison when cutting notches in dry wood. Echo is a lazy and clumsy saw. Maybe a .325 chain and porting can make it better.

Not a fair comparison you should have compared the echo 620p to the husky 562xp. The 520 echo is not their flagship saw in the 60cc class.

Have to admit, here is USA the husky is $800-$900 lol.
Compared to $450 highest price for 20" bar (somehow the 24" is $419.... 🤷‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️)
So for half the price, homeowners should take the 590 i would think

590 is not a pro grade saw... Anybody expecting this to run with 562's or ms 362's are not being realistic. There's a big price difference. The more expensive saws had better perform faster.

Was either one of them ported or muffler moded? I would def take that cs-590 over that husky
