    My family has really enjoyed our 2016 GMC Yukon XL Denali. For the past nearly 5 years and 100,000 miles, we have not had one single issue. It’s been a great family vehicle for us!

    I absolutely agree that regular gas car engines are way better than these uppity electric cars. These engines are the reason why we enjoy grewing up as kids riding them with our parents hearing these great engines roar and how fast they go😍

    Have a black 2015 Yukon Denali XL 4x4 with the 6.2L and the odd 6speed transmission as it was built in 2014, but the new body style. I have 143,000 plus miles on it. You take care of them they will take care of you. I did have the normal AC issues with this model year as well as the magnetic ride control shocks… AC was repaired several times under warranty as the front shocks…Just replace the rear ones at 120,000 miles. Had the rear LED lamps rebuilt from a company out west as new replacement ones from the dealer are almost $700.00 bucks….Fluids are changed regularly and it had the major 100,000 mile service done on it at the dealership I bought it from…..Plan on driving it right on!! Love the color of yours.!!!

    A great review of your Yukon . . since it is in such nice shape, you should go and talk your local GMC dealer into letting you "borrow" a new 2023 Yukon and make a comparison video with BOTH of them, side-by-side, showing how they have changed - advertising their dealership in the video, of course. LOL . . I hope you and your family have at least taken a test drive in a new Yukon - they are SO different - the independent rear suspension along with the air suspension makes a big difference in ride quality. Your thoughts on electric vehicles, I'm afraid, are going to be true in the future - in your lifetime, that's all you will see. I'm old and not healthy, so I'll never see it - it's sad because I love the noise my '68 Camaro makes under acceleration, just like you do.

    • @ClassicChrome01
      @ClassicChrome01  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah that would be fun to do a comparison. If I ever get the chance to do that, I will. Also, me and my mom have looked at the brand new Yukon Denalis but have never ridden or driven in one. They are beautiful. I think my mom still wants to keep ours for awhile longer but maybe she’ll get a newer one eventually. Who knows. And yeah these electric vehicles are a nightmare and are only getting worse. No matter what, I’ll always have an ICE vehicle as a daily driver no matter what. I’ll find a way to keep driving an ICE vehicle as long as I can. That’s cool that you have the 68 Camaro. Those do sound amazing. I’d love to get my hands on a car like that one day but I’ll probably never be able to afford one personally. Sorry for responding over month after you posted this comment. TH-cam doesn’t always notify me when I get comments and I forget to check them sometimes.

      @@ClassicChrome01 I didn't pay a DIME for my Camaro . . you can eventually buy one the same way I did . . ALL of the money for it came from the IRA I put money into when I was in my late twenties. Fifty years later, after putting ONLY $8,000 into it, it is worth over $300,000 now - you can do the same thing, since you are young.

    I agree about electric cars I don’t see them becoming mainstream anytime soon. I mean we’ve got the electrical grid having a meltdown when it gets cold out, how will we cope with everyone putting that kind of demand on the system without a serious upgrade. I’m glad the Yukon is still going strong but with these rising gas prices must be a nuisance to get 15mpg or lower.

    • @ClassicChrome01
      @ClassicChrome01  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah exactly there will be many issues if the car industry goes full electric. I see nothing but trouble with it. And yes, the Yukon is definitely a gas guzzler. It’s worth it though. It’s a great suv!

    Do you need to put premium in the 6.2 V8 or can you get away with regular ?

    • @ClassicChrome01
      @ClassicChrome01  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Premium is recommended on these but I don’t think it’s required. We have always put premium in it. I highly recommend using premium for peak performance, efficiency and reliability. It’s worth it especially in the 6.2 V8.

    Was looking to purchase one with a little over 100 K miles. The dealership is asking around 26 grand I read some reviews good and bad. How is the reliability on the 2015 and the 2016? Not so worried about gas mileage, but the maintenance of the vehicle.

    • @SkinnySkinch
      @SkinnySkinch 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The 8 speeds are notoriously bad. The Denali gets the 8L90 the regular Yukon gets the 6L80. The 6 speed is also notorious for being awful but many transmission shops have figured out how to rebuild the 6speeds to be pretty reliable. The 8 speeds usually get replaced rather than rebuilt.

    • @ClassicChrome01
      @ClassicChrome01  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@SkinnySkinch we’ve never had to replace our transmission and ours is the 8 speed. Sometimes it slips, but we’ve never had to do anything with it and it’s currently at 160,000 miles.

    • @ClassicChrome01
      @ClassicChrome01  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      As long as they’ve been properly maintained over its lifetime, they are pretty reliable even at over 100k miles. The 2017-2020 model years are probably a bit better, but I’d probably choose a 2016 over a 2015 even though it’s a carry over just to avoid the first model year of a generation but it may not make a difference 🤷‍♂️. Ours has been very reliable though and it currently has just under 160,000 miles.

    • @ClassicChrome01
      @ClassicChrome01  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ours currently has 137,000 miles and we’ve had no issues with it at all. They are good solid SUVs that will last a long time. I’ve heard other people say they have problems with them at any mileage but that can happen with any vehicle. We got ours brand new in 2016 and have had no issues with it the entire time we have owned it. Just check the carfax obviously like you would when buying any other vehicle and make sure all the proper maintenance has been done do it and I’m sure it will be reliable and last a long time.

      @@lawrencef3560 every Denali has the 6.2 engine. That’s part of the Denali package. We test drove a 2015 Yukon XL Denali when we were car shopping for one and it had a bench seat. Also, I think the seats are comfortable. They are more firm but I’ve always thought they were comfortable. Most newer cars are having more firm seats for some reason. No one makes the super cushy soft seats like you’d find in an early 2000s Yukon or tahoe or something like that anymore which sucks

    You better change the valve springs they are only good for about 100000 miles. It will break a valve spring and drop a valve and destroy the motor. I know it happened to mine twice the second time it broke 2 pistons and was only able to salvage 1 head, cost me $12,000 to have another motor installed. Machine shop told me the valve springs would have $300 to replace before motor exploded. If you dont believe me contact a reputable machine shop and ask. I wish someone could have told me that before the destruction. If you ever hear a distinct tick comming from motor shut it off and have it towed to a shop.

    • @ClassicChrome01
      @ClassicChrome01  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That would absolutely suck ass if that happened. I’m not sure if the valve springs have been changed on this. We really haven’t had to do anything to it. We’ve just done regular required maintenance and oil changes. It currently has just under 130,000 miles. I’ll have to ask my mom if the valve springs have been changed. I know it’ll need an oil change soon so hopefully they can check on that. Thank you for telling me about that! I’m sorry that happened to yours. That would suck

      @@ClassicChrome01 im trying to let everyone know that. The valvesprings are hollow the exhaust springs are liquid filled and the intake springs are not. Its the intake springs that fail. Mine it broke a intake spring twice once while idling and locked up the motor with no damage, rebuilt the one head cost 3000$ . A month later i was on the highway traveling at 75 mph and another intake spring broke on the other head the valve dropped and broke a piston, a piece of that piston was projected back up the intake valve it tore its way thru the plastic intake and was sucked down the intake valve on the other side and broke a piston there then the connecting rods beat up the cylinder walls and cracked the block scared the crank. The only thing salvagable was 1 head the oil pan and valve covers. Later research found that GM is having problems with valve springs on the 5.3 and 6.2 and recommend replacement at or before 100000 miles. I hope this helps
