I have a different story. Before Josh was born, back in the early 1980s, I was a young Philadelphia disc jockey working in the top-five market in the United States. I had a background in film and TV as well. A woman approached me and suggested that a woman I had dated had mentioned me to her, and her suggestion was that I should move out to California and join a production company as an actor in adult films. I was an unsaved guy and I dated very actively, because this is what the lost world was telling me a guy like me should do. But when I thought about it, I heard a voice in the back of my head that said, “Don’t do it. You will regret this forever. Tell them no.” As a result of the impact that voice had, I never followed up with her for that job, I stayed with my position at the radio station. About two years later, a young girl called up in the middle of the night, telling me that she was taking whiskey and barbiturates and wanted me to play a particular song for her on the radio as she was ending her life. I’ll shorten the story by telling you that I got the phone company to put a trace on the line. The police got into her apartment and found her, and she flatlined twice on the way to the hospital. If I had taken that job in California… moved myself out to Northridge, and taken what any unsaved young man might consider to be his dream job, that girl would probably be dead today, but God intervened in my life…..and I give Him all the glory.

@@DocProcRealm Well, my job is to tell you that I believe it was indeed God, because I didn’t know Him back then, but I sure do know Him now, and even a lost person like you can benefit from hearing my story. I suggest you make the most of it.
I heard Joshua's story before but never to this extent, in such great detail. My heart breaks for his past but glory be to God and His power to deliver my brother in Christ from a sordid life and to live out the rest of his years in solidarity in Christ. God bless this wonderful man and his family. God is good all the time!

JWS. OWN PORNOGRAPHY !
This podcast brought me to tears hearing about Our Lord’s love and forgiveness and how it transforms souls. It made me contemplate the gospel stories, i.e. Mary Magdalene, the Woman at the Well etc. and I was moved deep within my soul. God’s love is immeasurable. My faith is strengthened having heard Joshua’s story.
"A person is not defined by the worst or the best thing they do in life. God determines who we are, He created us and He loves us. " Great line
Thanks Lila, actually started crying during this podcast. Not sure how you kept it together. Keep bringing on amazing guests
LILA this episode was so intense!! Thank you so much for having this wonderful man on your show and having him share his story. You got me thinking we need to emphasize more there IS redemption and you are never too far gone for love, Christ, and living a pure life. So many other things to think about too... Wow.
I admire your grace, confidence, and love. I wish I could give you a million bucks for this episode. More please!!
Man.. This brings tears to the eyes. There's so much trauma on the human side of life. There may be wars in heavens and in the realms that we cannot see, but I can't imagine there's tragedy like that of the human on Earth.
I've heard his story many times on different shows. I'm never tired of hearing it. Amazing Story. God Bless Joshua 🙌 🙏
Same! Never gets old!
Me too shows just how big and good our God is ❤
This is such an important topic and podcast. We all need to hear this. Thank you dearly Lila and Joshua.
Joshua's journey is a testament to the power of transformation and demonstrating the reality of God's love and the possibility of salvation. This story is a reminder that with God, hope and love are always within reach. Thank you, Lila, for sharing this inspiring episode.
I just want to thank God for his converssion... Yes, he has a past, as we all, even if ours is not that extreme, but he was humble enough and had enough love to accept his mistakes and change his life, which is extremely hard. Many people don't do it out of fear of the comments, such as the ones in this comment section. Thank God, because now he can reach a population that might think that they are too far out of reach. He is living proof of our Lord's misericordy. All glory to Him ❤
PD. Sorry for my English, it's not my first (or second) language, i just used Google translate😅
What a powerful and intense episode! I totally love hearing Joshua Broome's story and the story of his redemption. His story needs to be shared EVERYWHERE! Thanks Lila for having this man of God on who is a literal living example of the Prodigal Son coming home to true Love.
No it’s not a good story. This will make guys think they can bang 1000 women and then just wipe their hands clean and go live a normal life.
Thank you, Lila, for bringing Joshua Broome on your program. I applaud anyone from the pornographic film industry who is willing to speak out as to how this industry damages both the performers and those who choose to look at such material. These pornographic film stars tend to be stigmatized, quite hypocritically, by the very same public that views such material in high numbers. So it really takes courage to speak out on such topics. These industry insiders are far more credible than someone, looking from the outside of the industry, who just sanctimoniously judges the participants and the audience for participating and consuming this type of media. Joshua Broome and other former stars of this industry can speak with such credibility, and their voices can really serve to deglamorize this industry in a way that other voices can't
My husband told me that the 1st time he saw our daughter, that he knew it in his soul how much more God our Father loves us....
Well done to Joshua and those good people around him. As a Muslim, I'm really glad that he has found faith, family and a community which are indispensable in moulding a true Adamic being.

I agree, this the reality of the prob industry teenagers know nothing about
Joshua’s story highlights how self esteem and worth are developed at an early age and then affect choices and the way we accept being treated. But it is also a story of redemption for all, regardless of the sin. His wife Hope exudes the grace and mercy all Christians hope to give when presented with the truth. Amazing all the way around. Great interview and the work he is doing now is saving lives.
Oh my goodness… What a story…Made me cry 😢…Jesus saved Him!
So much suffering in this inhuman industry. It’s so important that Joshua gives his testimony to as many people as possible, specially young people. ❤God bless him and his family. Thx for the interview Lila. ❤

😢broke my heart to hear your story, couldn't even listen to all of it in one sitting. Needed time to process, ponder, wonder at God's AMAZING GRACE for all of us...then just so incredibly thankful for you're sharing & hearing your love for Jesus & you're family, absolutely inspiring!!❤🙏🏻🤗🙏❤God bless & keep you Joshua & family & Lila & family!!!
Raised Pentecostal/Assemblies of God, and grateful for that heritage. However, when puberty hit the only way I knew to process that, was that something was going on inside of me that was profoundly wrong and bad. The only way I knew to respond to that, was self-hatred and self rejection. As a consequence I didn’t get married until I was 46. That only happened because some friends introduced me to someone they knew. An active dating life for me was to go out once maybe every 18 to 24 months. Had two girlfriends in my life prior to that. One for a week, the other for a month. to say I was naïve and unprepared is an understatement. The marriage lasted for 16 years. Because I was so unprepared, even through all those years, she left. That was five years ago ago. Life has become a constant battle of guilt, shame, and suicidal thoughts.
In my Pentecostal background, there is a deep emphasis on personal holiness. This is entirely correct. It’s supposed to be paramount. However, the teaching on personal holiness, and the need to live a crucified life, implied that any interests, desires, sense of purpose, or passion, needed to be destroyed. To attempt to do anything other than that, would be rebellion against God.
It’s taken over 45 years, but that presumption has finally broken me.
I am hardly unique. There are actually generations of sincere Christian men, that are so broken they turn to suicide. This is an issue that is at crisis proportions in the church. No one pays any attention to it. I needed to post this someplace. Here it is.
I'm so grateful for this powerful testimony. I'm reminded how much we are loved and that Jesus came for the sinners, not the righteous. I believe the shame of sexual sin is unlike any other, a powerful weapon against our salvation. I pray more people will publicly testify like Joshua has. Praise God!
I have watched some interviews with him but wow you really are amazing asking some really deep questions thank you for this episode ❤ the way his face lights up when he started talking about God ❤
Great testimony!! What we do with our bodies impacts our souls 100% ! The idea that you can separate them is so ludicrous! But society tries to sell us that sex is meaningless when its not
This is such a beautiful testimony. Thank you so much ♥️
A very moving and inspiring interview. Thanks be to God for this amazing story of repentance and love ❤
I have listened to Joshua’s stories so many times and I had no idea he was r****. It’s no wonder so many of them end up taking their own lives. Thank you to our Lord and savior Jesus for helping him through that. I can’t explain how much sadness that brought me…
How God can turn a person's life around is SO GLORIOUS ✝️🙏🏽
This was absolutely incredible! What an amazing testimony!
What a powerful testimony.. God bless Joshua & his family!
Joshua's story is very eye-opening. God bless you!
Like others, I've heard Joshua's story a few times in the past. However, this was by far his best interview. I particularly love the discussion about masturbation, and the idea of it being sinful despite the Bible not explicitly mentioning masturbation by name. Great content!
Our FATHER IN HEAVEN does condemn masturbation , very clearly, he tells us it is less sinful to lose our seed in the belly of a whore than to spew it on the ground, it is not good to search for loopholes in GODS word, simply because there are none, only man’s lack of understanding but ignorance of his law will not save us on that last day, peace and love to you brother ❤
This interview is so encouraging ❤
Very encouraging. I just watched some of his movies.
This man is one of the lucky ones who got to repent.. please pray for our lost brothers and sisters who are living in grave sin! May they repent before its too late.

Wow what a powerful story. Praise God
Such a wonderful story of a lost soul coming home. I think it is always amazing how God takes a person so far down the wrong paths and brings them back and uses them for his ministry. A porn star now a pastor and read the Old Testament God uses some of the most random type of people for his great works. Even the 12 apostles most were fishermen and one a tax collector

1 Samuel 16:7 7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
Such a beautiful story
The takeaway here is:
everyone is different and everyone is on their own trajectory; it may take performing in over a 1000 pornographic films for a person (as evidenced by the experiences related to us by the guest on this podcast) to realize truth and embrace a life without lust in devotion to God’s love

I rejoice when anyone reppents and turns from their sin.
However, regarding leadership, Holy Scripture declares that church leaders MUST be above reproach. Sadly, Americanized Churches disregard God's word on so many levels.
It's called lawlessness, which is an end of the age prophecy fulfilled before the man of perdition arises in the earth.
Didn't Corinths tell us who can be a pastor/priest. Specific details
Hi Lila:
Excellent interview, thank you very much.
My only comment is that you seemed to indicate that all sexual mortal sins are of equal gravity. The Catechism teaches otherwise cf. # 1858, 2352. There are varying degrees with regard to mortal sins, especially with regard to masturbation. This only makes sense when you compare masturbation to adultery where now you have violated not only yourself but your spouse and the person you had sex with and your marital vows. Apart from that thanks again and keep up the good work.
Fr. Paul Burchat
That is a great point Fr. Burchat. I appreciate the nuance. It would make sense that there would be gradations to a particular sin, in the same way the law treats murder differently, depending on the context (i.e first degree murder, second degree murder). Your comment just reminds me that I need to brush up on my catechism.
@@alphacausethe Bible says call no man “father”, stick to the Bible, not catechism.
This poor guy is only known for his porn past. As a Christian community we should help him pass beyond that as much as he wants to and needs to. It seems every interview w him is only related to that part of his life. Imagine the Samaritan woman or Mary the prostitute only talking about their past!!
Maybe that’s what he wants though, to help others through similar struggles. Porn and sex addiction are such a huge problem in the world now and I think not talked about enough, which is exactly what the devil wants. He wants people to feel shame and guilt and to feel like they need to hide their own battles. Joshua is bringing it into the light 🙏🏻❤️
@@shivermetimber6738 I understand all that perfectly. My point is that's ALL they interview him about. He's a human being, had a horrible past full of mistakes, and God guided him to an unlimited blessed life. He can talk about that too. The past sometimes needs to stay there; in the past!!
We're ALL poors in the eyes of the Lord...I don't care how Christians we think we are! It sounds to me like he's already there and getting better so I think he's alright...as long as he keeps doing what he says he's doing and I did not see any reason to doubt him on that. NONE of us are faultless...even after we've "found Jesus" (actually...HE found us!) or are "born again". We're still gonna fall. It's a FACT of human "nature" (well not really but our CORRUPTED nature. Better!). So the key is NOT whether we are going to fall again or not. We WILL! The key is how often but most importantly, what do we do about it? Do we just give up and go back to the road that leads to death OR do we get back on our feet, deny ourselves, pick up our cross and FOLLOW HIM every single day???!!! I'm trying the latter as painful as it is!
Would you treat a woman with the same past, the same as this man? Be honest

I have to be honest, Even the blurred out photo on the thumbnail for this video scandalized me a bit.
Absolutely believe in redemption. Good for him. But man that’s a tough thing to ever get over. This is always going to be in his life, his children’s life, his wife etc. That’s what makes this so destructive. The material is out there forever and follows you. Which is very different from many other things that kind of just stay in the past. I’m happy for him he found his spouse and she was able to be with a man with a past like this. Personally I could not do that

Can somebody answer me this question, where in the hell do these porn studios get the money that they have to pay vulnerable people these extremely exorbitant amounts of money?
I'm sure they get the money from all the people who pay to watch the pornography, which sadly is a huge number of people in our culture today.
@@forlife84 but other than only fans, most pornography is completely free. I don’t buy it. Plus all of the ads are just for more deviant behaviors.
People pay for premium subscriptions. Like..... A LOT. These studios have a global reach and finding enough people to open their wallets to make it a lucrative business is only getting easier and easier. Cov lockdowns caused a boom in business.
@@TheXennial79 Is that alone enough to pay these actors this much money? I'm not so sure.
@@richdog490 It is. Very easily. In fact, the industry is worth around 97 billion. The porn industry makes more money than Major League Baseball, the NFL and the NBA combined. These are more or less outdated facts as well and the industry only keeps growing.
The horrible thing I have encountered is that virginity is treated as centrally important to, and basic to the standard rhetoric of female CELIBACY, with a flipside of defilement, being violated, loss of glory (meaning honor). Women are officially rejected for being "consecrated virgins" (the parish based form of consecrated life) if "ever lived in public or manifest violation of chastity", as if Christ the Bridegroom were like the guy who didn't want to marry the girl because she had a 'past'. Meanwhile the "consecrated virgin" vocation trains clergy and laity to think about and define celibate women parishioners and their vocation differently based on"what kind of woman this is"--whether they are "virgins." There is a willful refusal to see how this creates so many disturbing and discouraging messages and creates an environment of anxiety and shame because it's considered a legitimate issue whether a woman living a chaste, devout life is a "virgin." Even though the way of life is the same either way and Jesus died and rose again for all of our sins.
Well what can be done? The ideal for Christian marriage is virginity until marriage and fidelity after. We know about sin and we know about God's forgiveness for a truly repentant sinner. We can't do more or less than uphold the ideal.
@@sliglusamelius8578 Do you believe we should discourage or humiliate girls who want to marry because they had been miseducated and earlier engaged in unchastity? In our culture how would girls actually know the ideal you are referring to? It is seldom taught. You are discussing marriage, I am discussing celibacy--to which past sexual behavior is of practical irrelevance. Women who learn as adults to embrace chastity and who have a celibate vocation should not be treated as though it were unfit for it. That makes no sense. I am talking not about women as an abstraction but about real people who need either married or celibate vocation for their spiritual growth and salvation.
@@ElizabethDMadison
You argued a total straw man. When did I say anything about shaming anybody lol? You clearly have issues.
I merely said that we should have standards and try to uphold them. No shaming is involved in that idea. I never argued for shaming anybody.
@@sliglusamelius8578 I have experienced extreme shame for many years, how would I not when I encounter that it's that important to people for celibate women (me) never to have been unchaste at any time in the past? You have "standards" but I never heard of those standard when I was young and now you hold me accountable for having not upheld them. It's completely unrealistic and cruel to categorize women as to whether they are sexually "new" or "used" and then laugh and make fun when women feel shame.
@@sliglusamelius8578 What on earth were you claiming was a strawman? The whole point is that it's literally never an issue in the Church whether brides are "virgins" and no one would make an issue of that let alone reject such a one for having a church wedding. Self evidently that would greatly humiliate (would-be) brides. You want it to be an issue for female celibates but you apparently didn't have basic insight that that would cause shame too for people who just want to live chastely and faithfully for Jesus and don't want to be defined as a woman relative to something bad that happened years and years ago. In the Gospels there is a man named Simon the Pharisee who has "standards" like yours and Jesus confronts Simon's ideas about "what kind of woman this is" and defends her.
God's angry with the lie that was killing us , he's never been angry with us🙂

I love how the host was confused why his friends look at him weird when he started doing gay scnees. thats fucked up.
Great pod but in the virginity part..
Masturbation is a sin but pre marital sex is a even worse sin bc you are causing another to sin.
unless it's rape you are not causing another to sin..you are allowing yourself to sin. And masturation is sex with your hand - produces narcissism and lack of relationships due to 'self sufficiency.' I teach NFP...many couples, he can't pleasure her because she "mastered" her body, and for him, the porn, he can't get an erection with her. It's a HOT MESS!
