Woodturning - How to Grind a 40/40 Bowl Gouge - Vevor Grinder Review

In this week’s woodturning video, Harry was contacted to see if he wanted to try out an 8-inch Variable Speed Bench Grinder. What beaver doesn’t want new tools to play with his wood with?
Vevor sent us along a grinder with a 36 and 80 grit wheel. I was wanting to get a second grinder to keep course grit wheels on to do tool reshaping and reprofiling so it was a great opportunity.
As for the grinder itself it did a good job. If you’re planning to use this for woodturning an upgrade in a platform system or a Wolverine Jig would be a must. You can’t get an accurate grind with these platforms as there is too much play.

I managed to get a good 40/40 grind on my Glaser V15 gouge. The most challenging part of it might have been getting the platform to 40° but after it was complete it cut like a champ!

Nice Jerry Glaser T15 bowl gouge. They take and hold an edge better than carbide in my opinion.
Invest in the Oneway wolverine sharpening system, you won’t be disappointed.

Thanks! I was super excited when I saw it on a tool auction and the seller made no mention to the fact it was a Glaser gouge. I've got the Oneway sharpening jig on my other grinder as well as Stuart Batty platforms. I was just testing out this other grinder that was sent to me, which will ultimately be used for reshaping.

Thanks Doug my guess is the gouge some how fell into a gap and got sort of stuck between wheel and platform.
