I'm aware everybody knows this but It's so impressive to me that Sam with just his training, no virtual interface help, basically no cyborg enhancements aside from his amplification suit, was THIS close to killing Armstrong had he not been overly impulsive and tried to cut his arm right off instead of aiming to the neck and decapitate him. It's also curious how instead of just puting his arm right back (assuming the cut was clean and that they had the medical equipment, could've probably been done considering the technology).
One of the greatest enemies in this game is the camera itself because I can’t see that one flying enemy in corner ultimately stealing my S rank, great video I dream to be that good
You made the enemies look like babies actually your entire walkthrough with Raiden, blade wolf, and same you made the enemies look like babies you have amazing strats
I could never beat this on Revengeance for one reason, and that one reason is Armstrong. I simply don't have the reaction time to dodge his attacks in his second phase.
Dude Armstrong is such a pain, I’m dying out here trying to get no damage on hard, I can’t avoid that stupid fucking dodge of his and the hit boxes are shit
Great video, I don't like other guides because they don't explain what they do in the comments or in the video, but are just balling on the enemies. I just have one question: What does the taunting do? Is it some kind of status effect? To me, taunting seems like the kind of thing that would make the game harder because it makes the enemies seem "angrier".
It temporarily increases the damage enemies do as well as their aggression - but it also weakens them, making them easier to kill with fewer attacks... Taunting combined with Charged Attacks are a key part of Sam's combat.
When it comes to Sam - it's all about simplifying each encounter to the simplest strat. For example, Blade Wolf; I know I finish with a taunt and few slashes, but the main strat I used was just playing purely defensive and using the perfect parries to do damage - do that 5 times, unleash hell on him during the Blade Mode finsher and he's done.
@@ZakRas i have since beaten sam on revengeance, even though Armstrong took me over an hour It wasn't very pleasant, but I'm glad i beat it, you're much better
No, I know the ones before he throws you have no failstate and o e where he throws you can have Sam slam into the chopper and instantly die. Never seen what happens if you fail the YB Finisher.
I don’t understand the grenade strategy for the mastiffs in VR 4. Whenever I taunt them and throw a grenade it literally just does nothing. Ik it’s hitting cuz the hit counter will appear but it doesn’t stun them like how you showed
That single grenade throw, was the hardest part of that entire VR Mission to make work as intended. The biggest problem I remember was it all being up to how the Mastiff's behave in those precious few seconds you need them to run up to you - rather than anything you can do. When it comes to the first grenade not stunning to follow up with a second? Unfortunately, I can't help. Do you play on PC? All I can imagine (that isn't the game pulling some BS) is it maybe being one of those weird things to do with unlocked framerates and all the cool stuff you can do with PC that disregards things the gameplay is heavily tied to.
Yeah no I play on XBox. I guess I’ll just have to keep trying, but hey at least I’m not the only one that thinks this mission is ridiculously difficult 😭 I’m trying to platinum this game tho and these vids are really helpful 👍🏻
@@WitheredRos3 Thanks, and just a head's up; that single VR Mission took me 10 days of attempts. The run that made it into this video, was the third attempt on the 10th day. You were really lucky for some of them you know. Edit: Im still shocked to learn Sam can just....dodge. I mean how do you do that!? There was no dodge botton.
Hi, i was planning to S rank the game on all difficulties, i already did it on normal, but i read somewhere that the VR missions are set on Revengeance difficulty if you play on Very hard difficulty, is that true? I really dont want to do VR4 perfect twice
By the way the VR missions are set to Revengeance difficulty even on very hard here's an example. Very Hard: th-cam.com/video/Zk_F9qviZGs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=5HPz-1yQmaWcRsnf&t=740 Revengeance: th-cam.com/video/QOwWWW8AZDw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=8tFYNR9WXgiiYq09&t=722
But is it just me or is Sam's taunting much stronger on Revengeance difficulty? Because on easy difficulty it does its job but doesn't seem to have the same effects as that difficulty. Obviously I can't always do NO DAMAGE battles. Maybe it's because I need more experience?
@@ZakRas at the moment I'm playing on easy difficulty, and I'm seeing a lot of S rank. A great result I've never had before - I don't touch this game for a lot. The only "A" is the fourth VR Mission and a useless C with Armstrong. Very difficult the final battle
If you don't collect enough Emp gernades and other things before the vr 04 ranked fight are you soft locked? or its it just really annoying? i know the no kills bonus can help but sam and wolf don't have a save feature like raiden unless I'm just blind.
The checkpoint/auto-save system works exactly the same as it does for the main game when playing the DLC chapters - so, you can get a checkpoint, quit to Title Screen, then Copy the Save slot when you press Start at the title screen to create a backup. The VR Missions in those chapters are treated as VR Missions, you can quit them and go back to the main level. As for collecting enough Sub-Weapons prior to starting it... I have found only one video of someone getting a NDS Rank with no Sub Weapons, and it relied on a combination of taunted enemies and perfect parries. I dread to think how long that took.
@@ZakRas oof yeah i was doing an s rank playthrough of the sam DLC but i'm not sure if the already completed s rankings remain if i restart the DLC so i will prob have to restart it plus fighting the grad without the emp gernades is... interesting lol ;-;
@@panzerofthelake500 Yeah, when it comes to Sam's Chapter, do a run through on Normal/Easy so you can max out all the Sub Weapons prior to your Revengeance run - especially due to the fact there's only one RP Grenade spawn in the whole Chapter, in the Brain Room. The good thing about that is that room has about 4 or 5 checkpoints tied to it, so just Restart as soon as you hit a new checkpoint to reset the room while keeping the RP Grenade you picked up. As for your Ranks, yeah they'll be reset. They only save per each individual run of a level. You restart the level, you're restarting it fresh.
