    As Aston Martin develops the V8 Vantage platform further, under the guidance of Tobais Moers (stolen from Mercedes-AMG), the car only improves. The new "F1 Edition," may have a silly name, but it has lots of functional improvements including 24 more horsepower, a recalibrated suspension, improved aerodynamics and a reprogrammed transmission, making this the most dynamically rewarding V8 Vantage yet.
    Aston Martin provided the vehicle, insurance, and a tank of fuel for this review.

      Fun fact that Pontiac used to advertise in the 60s. Torque wins races and HP sells cars.

      @@BeingMe23 The more torque the better, however there is something magical about ripping around in a car with an engine capable of high rpms...preferably on back roads at night! My next project will be a small block Ford (302 or 289) with a mechanical flat tappet cam / titanium valve train in appropriately high flow heads (ported Victor Jrs or maybe AFR.) aiming for 9,000 rpms! Nothing sounds like a screaming, high rpm push-rod Ford!

      @@CrazyDavy22 Well Torque gets the car off the line fast but the HP gives you top end. This why Dragster have high HP due to max speed is needed.
      But a daily street car needs more torque for easy take off from a start.
      Lucky my 2009 VOLVO C70 with a 5 cyl turbo has MAX torque from 1500 to 5000 rpm which odd for gas motor so small. It acts a diesel with such low rpm torque.

  • @Porsche1969
    @Porsche1969 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    This car has no chance compared to the Porsche 992 911 GTS. The Porsche 911 is just on another level.
    Mr. Zacks claim at the end of the video is quite irrelevant, because an Aston Martin for "80.000" bucks compared to a 140.000 Dollar expensive 911 GTS is kind of a fairy tale and totally unrealistic bullshit. He just can't compare the price of an used Aston Martin vs. a new Porsche 911. This is bullshit! For just 80.000 Dollars maybe Mr. Zack gets only one half of an Aston Martin Vantage. Therefore I absolutely disagree with his claim, that such an (in theory) "less expensive" Aston Martin looks "more expensive" than the 911 GTS.
    Basically any Aston Martin competitor to a Porsche 911 model is much more expensive than the Porsche. The other thing is, that Porsche 911 design is much more mature. The 911 design is its own classic and doesn't need to prove anything.
    For example the Aston Vantage front still looks like it's borrowed from a (very wide) Mazda Miata.
    Zacks claim, that the look of an Aston Vantage is more special than the design of a totally superior 911 GTS is totally superficial and makes no sense at all, because there are a lot of people, who feel it exactly the other way. And the 911 GTS just wipes its ass in any possible way with the Aston Martin Vantage "F1 Edition".
    If certain "sports car buyers" have a problem with the 911 design, because it isn't "flashy" enoung... Fine. Go for the cheap looking, slower, less quality Brit vehicle with the German engine and transmission... Which are still the best parts of the Aston Martin Vantage.

    Great vid. Christ these cars fucking ugly. Aston has fallen so far so fast it's ridiculous. The VH cars were peak Aston. Everything since has just been garbage.

    Around 12:00 wouldn't they just hold the clutch packs a bit less than fully open to transfer torque during shifting? Torque converters cannot decouple on their own. They CAN(and will) run the transmission fluid through the stator (actually running the fluid backwards against a higher pitch set of vanes) at 0MPH (for multiplying torque to get the car moving over mechanical rolling resistance). Now keep in mind I've been awake for a long time, and I haven't exactly read the ZF gearbox technical manuals, but it's just something that went through my head. You change a torque converter from regular to High Stall to keep it in gear to a higher RPM, but when shifting the clutch packs do all the work of decoupling the engine from the tires.

    I can’t believe they used the F1 name for this… shoulda saved it for one of their HyperCars
