My 2003 Volvo XC90 decided to die last summer and I had to buy something quick. So I'm driving Shoda Octavia now even had a plan to wait until electric cars and chargers will be more widely available in Latvia. My next car for sure will be powered by electricity
Of course, it is better for us to *reuse* existing vehicles, *repair* them when they need maintenance, and *recycle* at the end of their lives. My last daily driver was a ten-year-old diesel Honda Accord. I would still recommend that you look into electric cars though, every manufacturer is releasing them. Look for the electric cars that were designed to be electric rather than the electric cars that are just retrofitting of older engined cars.
@@DivingDeveloper I have a bit less than 4 years lease on Octavia now. 99% will stick with it until then and after will try to find electric car as a replacement.
Nice video Mike. Kind of exactly my thoughts on the Tesla for the six months we've had the car. I think we agree red is the best colour for the Model 3. The wipers are a pain, especially in heavy rain, although pushing the left stalk button fixes that problem in an instant. Via camera, they are far too slow to react, which could be dangerous. I've raised it as an issue on my Service button on the Tesla App and they told me they were still in beta and will get better. I saw your comment on my video, and I'll definitely look to get rid of the number plate holders. Now that I have seen what yours look like. I for one have the FSD package and have thoroughly enjoyed watching the car do stuff on its own. It is a brain change though because your instincts are to react by braking or grabbing the steering wheel. Having some trust in the car to do the right thing takes time. It is not perfect (yet), but it's getting there. On the motorway, it is a pleasure driving with full navigation on, and letting the car change lanes, accelerate, brake, turn perfectly. It does get confused when exiting the motorway onto a dual lane road, but these would be instances one is super alert anyway. Around villages and country lanes, auto-pilot does okay and gets confused a lot when stationary cars are in the way, but we need more beta testing in the UK. I agree though the surround camera, it makes no sense why Tesla has left the front off given they have so many cameras. A front camera near the sensors would be ideal to pick up low objects that could scuff or even worse damage the front of the car. Another con is, it should have been a hatchback. Coming from an SUV, the low boot overhang is a slight annoyance, although as you pointed out, space is more than enough. The Model Y will sort this out.
TEAM RED :-) Thank you Bowen. I appreciate your detailed comments. A front-facing or 360 'top down' camera is my biggest feature request especially when parking nose-first into a parking space. I agree that the boot overhang is an annoyance, my last cars have all been flat. Flat would make it so much easier to load and unload heavy items (like heavy scuba diving cylinders).
Your FSD observations are interesting. Tesla gave me a free trial of EAP (during lockdown...) and although it was fun to play with summon, I couldn't try it on a motorway because we don't have motorways. If there's a subscription, I'd definitely give it a try.
Great video - really enjoyed this! Great car, great scenery.
Thank you, James!
Great video. The only thing maybe missing is some more text overlays info when you are talking specs, pros/cons, consumption, etc
Thank you, Mihai for your suggestions. I think you're right. I will add clear text overlays for the next video.
