Lemon pledge is petroleum based. Have you ever used petroleum based tire shining sprays? They look great at first but after about a week the tires turn hideously grey. I’d use caution on things that are plastic(as plastic is petroleum based).
Yeah. I do hate how tire shine makes tires look after a few days. I don't really plan on going using Pledge any more. I didn't notice any dulling but there are quite a few cleaners that work better.

I will definitely look into that. I get water spots like crazy with all the black plastics and dark blue paint. That would be real sweet if I didn’t have to spend a ton of time getting rid of water spots.

I’m going to try the sc1 sounds and looks great, I’ve been using pledge for years it ok cheaper definitely and has been recommended in Polaris Manuel book for as long as I know lol, but not that great but does the job for as often as I clean rzr weekly, good video
You won’t be disappointed. It should really cut your cleaning time down and look a lot better. Let me know what you think of it. Also thank you for the compliment.
Might check a product called slick products, been using on my dirt bike and now yxz. Most likely same type of stuff but maybe cheaper? They have a good foam soap to.
Pledge is the best stuff for leather. If it is good for leather and wood, then its is a harmless cleaner. However, it is NOT a coating. It has no silicone therefore, once it dries....it kinda disappears.
@@FilthyKnobsOffRoad Yes, a navy guy told me about it, tried it and it is awesome for your leather jacket. It doesn't fade the color and it leaves a tiny film of protection. I usually clean with Pledge my leather seat and them I use leather lotion. My seat is 5 years old and it looks like it was just installed. The softest leather, better than an Armani jacket.
Good info on this Video. I'm surprised at the results but it is too obvious to ignore. I do have a question though: I find that putting anything on my machine just creates an oily place for dirt and dust to collect on. Then it really does look atrocious for sure.
SC1 continues to hide dust as you are riding. If you get into some real dirt and dust it does seem to collect more dirt but if you use SC1 continually when you clean your sxs it makes the dirt spray off much easier. My machine never looks real clean after I start riding but I like to put it away fairly clean and I like to have it clean when I arrive to a ride. I don’t really notice any issue with collecting dust while the machine is sitting.
The trick is getting your rig super clean before applying SC1. I usually spray SC1 and let it sit for a few mins before wiping so it gets time to seep into the plastics. SC1 might collect a little dust but it’s much easier to clean off. Essentially the SC1 make a barrier from mud and dust. Also after washing use a leaf blower and towel to dry. That will help chase those water spot off as well.
I normally don't whip off the Pledge for a few hours or even a few days.. It works good enough for me. I will say that Pledge works better than the Dollar General brand.
it doesn't have to be pledge, try a cheap spray wood furniture polish with beeswax, if you wipe it off with one cloth and use a second cloth to polish it straight afterwards the streaks wont happen. if you cant get rid of the streaks wipe it over with a damp cloth before polishing to a shine. another cause of streaks is using to much pledge, a little goes a very long way.
Great video, thanks for making it. However, I wonder if you used a new rag to wipe down the Pledge after using it on the SC1. I suspect that you got streaks on the black painted plastics due to cross contamination of the two chemicals. Perhaps a clean new rag wouldn't have left any streaks?
I used two separate rags. I forgot to mention that in the video. Could be some cross contamination around where the two halves met but judging by how the products worked around the entire machine I believe the results are still valid.
@@FilthyKnobsOffRoad Great and informative video nonetheless. I'm a big fan of Slick Products. Their spray is outstanding. I think it's similarly priced maybe a bit less than the SC1. Their cans are pretty big, so I use about 3/4 of a can for my 4 seater (Polaris XP4 1000 HighLifter).
Great video!!!! Just got my 2021 SS so very timely video for me. Im over in Traverse so cant be that far from you. How do you wash the inside, do the seats take forever to dry?
Awesome! we ride from Houghton Lake to Traverse City a lot. I Wash the Inside pretty much the same way. I pressure wash the entire inside including gauges, switches, shifters, all of it. I do try not to spray up real close but I still spray it down pretty good. Then I use SC1 on everything on the interior except for the steering wheel. I pressure wash the seats as well. They really don't soak up much water. I usually leave them dry for a few hours and they are fine. The aftermarket harnesses that I have are really nice and padded but they soak up a ton of water when washing my machine. I have to let those dry over night minimum unless I want some wet suspender strap looking lines on my shirt.

Sc1 is is a cover all not a cleaner. It stays wet to a point. It covers dirt and imperfections. Pledge is a wax and will not cover like sc1. The spray pattern on the sc1 is way more fine hence why it gets into all the cracks and crevices. The misconception of sc1 is it cleans. It doesn't clean. It covers.
Did you try the real Pledge or only generic? I heard about this in the 90's when I was out wheeling in a 1991 Toyota pick up and it worked back then. SC-1 is a better product for sure but if I was selling it I would use the SC-1.
On the can of sc1 it says to spray it on and leave it for a few minutes. Then wipe it off. I guess it’s like a wax. It also says if you want maximum mud release just spray and leave it. Don’t wipe it off.
Ya but the pledge bottle is smaller and half the size as sc1 and when u buy one can of sc1 it is the same price of 2 pledge witch is the sAme amount of sc1
I will have to look for the Adams in and out. I've never heard of it. I will have to find some. I have an O'Reilly up the road. Maybe I'll pick up some Coverall as well. I have never tried it.
Pledge will do some cleaning as well. SC1 will not. But SC1 looks a little better when it’s all said and done we tested it at the shop on a few different rigs plastic metal street bikes, side-by-side and four wheelers. Both are good. You used way too much plants it goes on differently. You wipe it on with one rag then you take another rag and you wipe it off.
I like the look of Satin tire shine more but for some reason the extreme shine seems to make my tires look cleaner. I do wipe them down so they are not wet looking.
I can’t tell if you are joking or serious lol. Is this one of those “it’s spring so switch your battery terminals around so you get AC instead of heat” type jokes to see if I’m dumb enough to do it? Does it really work? I’ve never heard of using that.
The plastic stays clean until your next ride. It does help the dirt come off easier as well. I use SC1 all the time and even after washing it I notice that it still has a nice shine on the painted plastic.
Have you seen the stuff Sean from BikesNBeards channel makes he claims it is by far the best spray on cleaner/shiner there is but I mean so would I if I made it lol-ol-ol but hey could be another option to checkout
Sc1 attracts dirt,.it has an oily type base... Pledge is more like a wax and dirt flings off. Pledge is way better and you're able to find wood polish type pledge at the dollar store.
I’ve never noticed either attracting dirt honestly but when I take the SXS out I know it’s going to get dirty so I don’t really pay attention. I do notice SC1 has a greasy feel for a while so that might cause it to hold onto some dirt. I notice that SC1 does absorb and hide some dust. you don’t notice dust on the machine if it sits for a few weeks. I don’t say it but in my review a lot of my focus was on how each performed on faded black plastics and how easy it was to wash dirt off the machine. SC1 was definitely better for those things. I think probably SC1 is best if you want the machine to look it’s absolute best, if you’re selling it or if you don’t have a ton of time for cleaning. Pledge works really well if you are trying to clean up the machine for cheap and may be better if you want to keep it clean during a ride like you said to fling the dirt off. Neither did a bad job. I will try to find the wood type pledge and give that a try. Thanks!
If you spray it and leave it it will be a little greasy for a few days for sure. I like to wipe it down with a towel after I spray it on and that gets rid of most of the greasy-ness. If you wipe your finger across after a few days you will feel some lubricity but it’s not wet like it would collect dust.

I absolutely love my yxz. The ability to shift gears makes it a blast to drive in the trails and dunes. It’s not great at rock crawling, mud bogging or going real slow in general. It’s has been an extremely reliable machine and it can really take some abuse. I was torn between the yxz and an X3 when I was shopping for a sxs. The x3 new was going to cost me $34,000 for the machine and the aftermarket Radius rods, shock tower braces and various mods to make the x3 as reliable as I want it to be. The yxz cost me about half of that price.I just didn’t feel like the x3 was going to be double the fun for double the price. Plus I didn’t want to worry about watching belt temps and changing belts. Ultimately I love the yxz but I still find myself wanting an X3 for more suspension travel and a factory turbo for more acceleration for hill climbs and jumping. The x3 is an all around more capable machine. I would probably hold onto it. You can make the yxz extremely fast but even with a long travel kit it’s never going to ride or jump as well as an x3 in my opinion.
My friend blew up his motor after hydrolocking it and we thought we had it good then bam... Hardest freaking vehicle to get all the water out of.. I like it but I am not a big fan of how kinda locked up the clutch stays... You really gotta control it.. It's bad ass no doubt.. But it's more of an ultimate machine.. Made to haul ass...
The SC1 is pretty good but it is way overpriced The Pledge works just as good the only thing is you didn't rub it in enough that's why it showed that film if you would have rubbed it in again with a dry cloth it would have been better and shinier than the SC1 it just takes a little bit more elbow grease but if you look at the price difference pledge is the way to go SC1 needs to lower their price the only way to do it is to lower their sales
@@FilthyKnobsOffRoad ok so then the pledge would require more elbow grease. If that worth saving 7-8 dollars then do it. Personally I spray on rag not on part. So one can would at least last me 2 whole jobs. Over spray waste happens. And once rag is saturated. I don’t see the need for spray on part then wipe. You might be able to spray on rag and at least do body panels versus faded black parts.

What a great real-world video. Thanks. I agree with you on the SC1 after watching.
Thank you. I absolutely love SC1. It’s tough to beat.
If you let the sc1 sit on the plastic for mine til it starts to dry its will do a better job to. Will also make next time clean up easier
I will have it try letting it dry a little longer. Thanks for the tip!
SC 1 LOOKS REALLY REALLY GREAT. WORTH IT
Might check a product called slick products, been using on my dirt bike and now yxz. Most likely same type of stuff but maybe cheaper? They have a good foam soap to.
I have some coming in the mail as we speak. I’m making a slick/ SC1 comparison video
@@FilthyKnobsOffRoad Nice! Look forward to it. I have a can of SC1 on the shelf but havent used it yet, got a few cans of Slick to go through first.
Pledge is the best stuff for leather. If it is good for leather and wood, then its is a harmless cleaner. However, it is NOT a coating. It has no silicone therefore, once it dries....it kinda disappears.
I’ll have to try it on some leather some time. Thanks for the info.
You have take a dry cloth to polish the Pledge after it drys. You get what you pay for. Extra work for Pledge Or simplicity of SC1.
So true!
Next video do an SC1 & WD40 comparison 😎👍
I use a product called instant SHINE (sparyaway) works the same as SC1 but SC1 no smell
I have seen ads for that stuff. I have wondered if it was any good. Maybe I’ll try some soon.
honest review thanks
I normally don't whip off the Pledge for a few hours or even a few days.. It works good enough for me. I will say that Pledge works better than the Dollar General brand.
Pledge definitely works pretty well. its a good cheap option. Off road vehicles don't stay clean for long so it works good enough.
Trim Shine works as good around 5 bucks at auto parts
it doesn't have to be pledge, try a cheap spray wood furniture polish with beeswax, if you wipe it off with one cloth and use a second cloth to polish it straight afterwards the streaks wont happen. if you cant get rid of the streaks wipe it over with a damp cloth before polishing to a shine. another cause of streaks is using to much pledge, a little goes a very long way.
Good info. I will try it.
@@steveshalaby9131 I have heard great things about slick products. I plan to get some to try out in the next month or two
Great video!!!!
@@FilthyKnobsOffRoad thanks again foe the info!!! I will be watching for the next video. I have the DASA GYTR full system and you are right, it doesnt sound anything like it in person. Its almost too loud but i giggle every time i fire it up!!!!
@@FilthyKnobsOffRoad just got a complete Rugged Radios intercom / radio kit in the mail. I will keep you posted on how it goes, probably wont get to it this week and we have guests coming for the weekend and electrics arent really my thing but this seems extremely straight forward and simple
Awesome let me know how they work. The intercom systems I have tried haven’t worked great. I like to wear a helmet when I ride and i can’t hear anything in the helmet headsets over the dasa exhaust. The ear muff kind would probably work well.
@@FilthyKnobsOffRoad for sure i will let you know. I am a helmet guy (x-RoadRacer) and as a result we purchased more street oriented helmets for the YXZ, I am still using my old Arais personally but we bought 3 Bell's for the wife and anyone who wants to ride so we have sizes s-xl. I bought 4 helmet kits from rugged, i think the cheek pads in the street style helmets will seal out sound a little better than mx style lids and hope the Rugged system can belt out enough volume, it has to be better than screaming between 2 helmets with that DASA snarling 2 feet behind our ears, we cant hear ourselves think!!
It covers.
New bike in a can isn't BSing. Sc1 works. But save it for a major event to look good when needed.
Most definitely
Did you try the real Pledge or only generic? I heard about this in the 90's when I was out wheeling in a 1991 Toyota pick up and it worked back then. SC-1 is a better product for sure but if I was selling it I would use the SC-1.
I believe it was the real Pledge. The sc1 is definitely perfect for making things look great before selling.
On the can of sc1 it says to spray it on and leave it for a few minutes. Then wipe it off. I guess it’s like a wax. It also says if you want maximum mud release just spray and leave it. Don’t wipe it off.
Good to know. On my black plastics I can get away with not wiping but the painted plastics need to be wiped down a little to get rid of spots.
Use the pledge first then the SC1. A stain that sits longer is more difficult to remove.
True. That would probably work best
Ya but the pledge bottle is smaller and half the size as sc1 and when u buy one can of sc1 it is the same price of 2 pledge witch is the sAme amount of sc1
Probably true!
How long does SC1 last before you have to reapply?
Never really paid attention to how long it lasts. Only be after every ride my machines get washed and then once dry I will apply sc1
You can wash side by sides?
If you’re dumb like me you can but it gets ruined in about 1 minute of riding so it feels about useless.
Muc off ftw 🙌
Never heard of it. I’ll have to check it out.
For the engine bay you could try Adams In & Out Spray on the wires to make them shine after it’s clean or Aerosol Coverall from O’ Reilly Auto parts
I will have to look for the Adams in and out. I've never heard of it. I will have to find some. I have an O'Reilly up the road. Maybe I'll pick up some Coverall as well. I have never tried it.
Where can i buy this product SC 1 im from south africa Amazon dont have plz
You may be able to buy it straight from the Maxima website if they will ship it to you.

Pledge will do some cleaning as well. SC1 will not. But SC1 looks a little better when it’s all said and done we tested it at the shop on a few different rigs plastic metal street bikes, side-by-side and four wheelers. Both are good.
You used way too much plants it goes on differently. You wipe it on with one rag then you take another rag and you wipe it off.
good point. I did probably use too much pledge. It worked well. I would use it again.
Thanks for the comparison, but you had me cringing with the microfibers laying in the grass.
Yeah. I remember cringing when I was editing it. I was in a hurry because there was a big storm rolling in quickly lol.
Pledge is the best tire dressing
I love armor all extreme tire shine. It’s super easy but it is really shiny.
Nice video thanks 👍
Thank you for watching!
I didn't know anyone wiped off SC1. Spray it and forget it🤷🏻♂️
I like satin tire shine
I like the look of Satin tire shine more but for some reason the extreme shine seems to make my tires look cleaner. I do wipe them down so they are not wet looking.
I use baby oil does a bretty good job
I can’t tell if you are joking or serious lol. Is this one of those “it’s spring so switch your battery terminals around so you get AC instead of heat” type jokes to see if I’m dumb enough to do it? Does it really work? I’ve never heard of using that.
How long stay it in the plasic
The plastic stays clean until your next ride. It does help the dirt come off easier as well. I use SC1 all the time and even after washing it I notice that it still has a nice shine on the painted plastic.
Have you seen the stuff Sean from BikesNBeards channel makes he claims it is by far the best spray on cleaner/shiner there is but I mean so would I if I made it lol-ol-ol but hey could be another option to checkout
I will check that stuff out
Sc1 attracts dirt,.it has an oily type base...
Thanks!
🏆🏆🏆👍🇺🇲🙏
Thank you for sharing
is SC1 greasy after it dries for a few days?
If you spray it and leave it it will be a little greasy for a few days for sure. I like to wipe it down with a towel after I spray it on and that gets rid of most of the greasy-ness. If you wipe your finger across after a few days you will feel some lubricity but it’s not wet like it would collect dust.
@@FilthyKnobsOffRoad I'm from South Africa I like to buy this product
never use pledge it will damage plastic over time. sc1 collects dust, overly expensive. i would get it ceramic coated.
I will look into that. Never had anything ceramic coated before. Thank you

Nice video, how do you like the yxz I'm thinking about trading my x3 for one ??
@@FilthyKnobsOffRoad thank you very much for replying back great information my x3 is making 225hp but I really like the yxz I can put a turbo on it
My friend blew up his motor after hydrolocking it and we thought we had it good then bam...
I will try rubbing in the pledge more if I use it again.
$52 ÷ 5 cans is $10.40 not $15.00
If you buy the single cans they cost $14.99. I buy the multiple can pack for a better deal. Sorry I didn’t communicate that very well.
Nothing smells better than SC1 except meat cooking over a fire. And maybe Chewy Sweet Tarts.
Yes chewy sweet tarts!!!🤤
I use baby oil
If your using the same rag then the test has already failed. As the two compounds have mixed. And if one is oil based an another not it’s screwed.
I used two different rags lol
@@FilthyKnobsOffRoad ok so then the pledge would require more elbow grease. If that worth saving 7-8 dollars then do it. Personally I spray on rag not on part. So one can would at least last me 2 whole jobs. Over spray waste happens. And once rag is saturated. I don’t see the need for spray on part then wipe. You might be able to spray on rag and at least do body panels versus faded black parts.
You shouldn't spray the SC1 on the wheels. It is silicon so it gets on the rotors and pads.
That’s true. I’ll try to remember that
Sc1 wins....
For 10 dollars difference in price I'm all over it!!
Exactly!
Looks like the sc1 has similar behavior as a wd40.
I’ve never tried WD-40 on plastics. Is that a common thing to use? I’ve never loved the smell of WD-40
@@FilthyKnobsOffRoad I’ve personally never tried it on plastics but it has cleaning power for sure. Some people use it as a quick fix on their faded headlights and that works temporarily.
It will get you swarmed by bees. Any bike owner knows this.

Cleaning my SXS is my least favorite part of owning it, other than changing the oil I guess. SXSs are crazy expensive so I want to make it last and hold some value so it’s worth something when I want to upgrade or sell it. The point of the video is trying to find something to help me do less cleaning and more riding.
Can you spray this right on your lights and dash screens and stuff? Doesn't it leave a residue on that stuff like your lights and dash screen? I've heard people are using Amsoil Mudslinger for underneath your fenders and shocks. You just spray it on and leave it underneath and mud falls off.👍
I’ve sprayed it on my lights , dash and speedometer but I always wipe it down afterwards. Cleans up really nice. I don’t have a screen really. I will have to try some mudslinger. Thanks for the info!
