    Excellent video, thanks.
    So say 25 HP to drive each track assembly, that works out to a 100HP total HP loss to drive the 4 tracks.
    This means that the engine is left with 540 HP to pull the implement.
    Then the maintenance cost of 12 idler pulleys, the 4 bigger idlers plus the expensive belts.
    Mamma Deere must love this.
    I'll take wheels any day over tracks.

    • @John-nc4bl
      @John-nc4bl 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      So more HP required to overcome the friction which means more fuel used when compared to a wheeled tractor.
      If I am wrong on any of this feel free to correct me.

      @@John-nc4bl Tracks are actually more efficient at putting the power to the ground in loose conditions. Tires will win on harder ground.
      Tires need a higher slip rate than tracks which is a big efficiency loss. Tracks are definitely higher cost that you probably won't make back from efficiency. Tracks do pull harder than tires, 2 track beats 4 track on efficiency and pulling, 4 tracks allow for bigger machines and less compaction.

      @@philb5593 Tracks last 2X longer than tires. Smoother ride in the field. 4 track systems waste way too much power to parasitic losses of all those gear boxes.

    • @debi5292
      @debi5292 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You are wrong. Wheeled tractors make max pull @ 10% slip. They are always climbing out of the whole they are digging. Not to mention tire life is a fraction of what tracks will run because they are not slipping like tires.
      We have had a Caterpillar 75D for over 20 years. I will NEVER own another rubber tired wheel packer on this farm. BTW I kicked JD to the curb way back then. Best decision I ever made too.

    Where or what kind of shank extensions do you have. We have compaction issues from where the tracks go in the spring and thought if the shanks were deeper where the tracks are that might fix it

    Why do you have different rows planting at different depths? The first two rows you changed to 6x5, then the next row you changed to 5x5.

    • @6thGenFarmer
      @6thGenFarmer  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      So I bought a set n seed this year. Was able to set each row to 2” depth and adjust accordingly. Kind of crazy to see how much different the depth is from row to row and we verified the depth by digging every row and they were all within a quarter inch to each other.

    Many farmers would struggle to buy a new 9rx based upon 2024 crop futures projections. I believe that tractor was advertised by dealer w/ about 300 hrs on the clock. If the same machine, those payments would interfere w/ sound sleeping @ nite 🚜🇺🇸🗽👌

    JD copies everything they see. First the Cat two track system then the Case IH quad track system. These 4 track Deeres make one hell of a lot of noise going down the road. Straight cut gears from the manufacturer who introduced helical cut gears 60 years ago. Funk makes all of JD drive train components. Parasitic losses are horrendous as the have all the loses of a articulated 4WD plus those pesky corner gear boxes to get the power to the correct height of the driver in each track set. What an over engineered idea carried out by the cheapest way you could go.
    Shame on JD who has been misleading us for 20+ years. They are not the company they used to be. Innovation is dead and copy catting is in. Screw them.
