Yeah! Back to the 70's!! They were my favorite christian band until 84( Stryper) keep going with them none of the albums really sound the same, they changed a lot over years but more hits than misses I think..
Silence Screams from 1988 was all of this and more! For those of us who burned our hundreds of Zeppelin, Purple, Sabbath, etc... albums and didn't know where to go, Resurrection Band was a Godsend. Some of these tracks were all but ruined by the minimal production budget, but the talent was there to make each album an awaited event.
There would be no Stryper without Resurrection Band! Rez was more blues based, but as many of their albums/disks showed, starting with Colours in 1980, they could metal with the best of them. N.Y.C. is a great example of that from Colours, where they had some production money to match their talent from Light Records. Glenn's voice is only known to a few because, let's face it, he wasn't singing about THAT kind of "whole lotta love"...
@@Metal777 I was introduced to them back in 1977. They were part of the early Jesus movement. They live in Chicago and formed JPUSA. Jesus People of the USA. The female vocalist you heard is the wife of the male vocalist. He also plays rhythm guitar as well as the harmonica you heard in Waves. The drummer is the brother of the female vocalist. JPUSA put on the Cornerstone Festival for years. What an incredible festival it was. I saw so many awesome bands there.
Check out their later releases for some updates sounds - Civil Rites, Innocent Blood, and Lament, for example. This is good if you like that 70’s classic vibe. Rez are definite pioneers in the Christian rock/metal scene, and highly underrated in my opinion.
Autograph and Colours are my two favs from these guys. I still listen to them today! I think Colours is an absolute masterpiece of Glenn's and Stu's guitar playing. Wendi Kaiser and Sandy Brock were probably the two most influential female rock vocalists of early Christian music. They were both so supremely talented.
Imagine being a teenager, the needle touches vinyl and the Intro plays. I have to say, this album is a perfect combination of rocking blues and lyrics of faith, hope and love.
I think I was about 9 years old when this album came out and I bought it with my paper route money. Favorite Rez album was Hostage, with S.O.S and Souls For Hire being my 2 favorites. Actually got a picture taken with Wendy Kaiser long ago!
This is like a birth-of-the-band era song. The lyrics were always amazing and make their material worth a listen. The Led Zeppelin influence on the first two was very apparent. The third album Colours was an early classic. After that band slowly began to stray into a bit of new wave and lost their sound a little, making a strong comeback with Between Heaven and Hell and moreso, Silence Screams. A track like Pauper's Grave off of Civil Rites is more the style of the channel with it's monster groove and more metal bend.
If you're into more of the harder and/or mainstream rock, I recommend Miltary Man, Attention, Shadows, Broken Promises, Awaiting Your Reply, Autograph, Lovin' You, Area 312, Light/Light, Across These Fields, City Streets, White Noise, Elevator Muzik, Can't Get You Outta Mind, So In Love With You, Gameroom, Defective Youth, Right On Time. There are many more in addition to those, and they also have many great bluesy songs that I love (which others are mentioning)

@@Metal777 I remembered another band from the 80’s Called saint they sounded a lot like Judas Priest the singer was like a clone of halford like Scott from white cross sounded like the singer from ratt now these bands came out around the time stryper came out
For a full and complete understanding of this music, you have to understand the times and the backgrounds of the people making the music. The whole Jesus movement was a very unique time. Young people were people giving up on drugs, sex, and Rock and Roll for answers to the problems of modern life and discovering Jesus and the promise of Salvation. Not their parents religion with rules and dress codes, but more of a hippy love movement. Free love without the sexual promiscuity.

Waves is the first song on Resurrection Band's first album. That song is just a teaser of what they can do. Check out "Military Man"!!
