- As a traveling British family, we now feel like we can't beat the Philippines for quality of life that this country offers. In this video we talk about life on Siargao island and our travels beyond into Mindanao. We have many experiences ahead! Some good some bad.
Our names are Jmayel, Sacha & Story. We traveled to Siargao island with Jmayel's mum & Story's grandma just before the Global pandemic that sent the whole planet into quarantine. We got stranded for months and fell in love with island life, now we want to make that life more permanent.

In my experience after a fever i still easily get dizzy i think she just need to be fully recovered before going out until she will regain her energy back 😊
if you can delay your plans for now since covid cases are rising. travelling might be difficult because of localized lockdowns, checkpoints etc. maybe do research first on places you guys will be travelling to know the current situation and travel restrictions. just be on the safe side.
Maybe it would be good to defer travel plans. Listen to the signs, Sasha's travel apprehension, Story getting sick ( please see a pediatrician) Eden's health condition car breaking down and most of all surge in covid cases . Better be on the safe side than sorry .
If she have rashes, runny nose and watery eyes, it might be the measles. It's quite common this time of the year. Have her checked by a doctor anyway just to be safe.

If you plan to travel with that car, at least buy in advance all replaceables and bring it. Almost all parts of the Philippines has roadside mechanics that might help, unless it is a major breakdown. Story should travel after a light meal or empty stomach and eat only upon reaching your destination. Check also with doctor about her rashes, she might had some allergies and it is connected with motion sickness
Whatever you guys decide on, just be safe and healthy. Sadly, this crazy world isn't quite healed yet. Love and hugs to Story. I hope she's better already. ❤️
You’re family is adorable. Go for instinct what makes your heart desires. You’re blessed already traveling few countries . Never be afraid to live simply in one place but felt comfortable and safe. A place that you can call HOME. 🥰🙏
Season of life. I completely understand what it is that you're going through. Both of my kids were constantly vomiting in the van during our drive on Hwy. 17. They eventually got over it ... keeping the car cool and having them look straight ahead and yes, ginger does help. I feel the same way ... no desire to travel, but once we do ... I always feel grateful for that little vacation. You guys are doing a great job of raising Story and Eden!
That feeling of not needing to travel, sounds like contentment. You have your family and Eden with you and you have an amazing location. Your daily vlogs, you guys are interesting even without jet setting or driving to far places. Some people are starting to travel again and I haven't tuned in to their vlogs. Something about it turns me off. Not all vlogs or vloggers are equal. We're interested in you guys in your journey thru life. Your vlogs feel like there's a purpose. I think my point is travel cuz you want to not cuz you feel pressure to.... also, I hope Story feels completely better soon! See you on the next one!

I agree with this. EMFH is special compared to other vloggers who gets to travel for free for promotion purposes, theres just too many of them doing same thing.
I remember having motion sickness when I was very young. My Dad always bring 🍊 orange fruits and will have me smell the orange peel when the motion sickness attack. He also advised me to look way ahead or up not near/down the road.

Completely normal apprehension Sasha. Travelling with kids and animals takes up so much headspace and this load is mostly carried by the woman. Trying to remember everything you have to take with you, working out all the logistics, trying to keep to sleep routines etc whilst on the road. It’s all a mental load and quite different to just being a couple and hitting the road on a whim. Follow your instincts here - if it’s all too much then stay put for a while, there are worse places to be!
I really identify with the change in perspective you have had. I find myself filling with anxiety about leaving home and I never used to be like that at all, either. The pandemic really has taken its mental toll. In the United States, this feeling has also been compounded with political and social strife in our country in the past year. I hope that we do get out more these feelings will dissolve as you say. :)

I hope everyrhing is ok with Story. By the way, there is a covid surge in the Philippines. Localized lockdowns and curfews have been declared here in NCR. I am sure there will other better days ahead for family travel.
None of us are travelling these days. One Covid lesson seems to be being content with where we are at even if it isn’t as beautiful as your location. I’m sure Story will survive just fine without travelling. Eden too!
There are times to keep moving and times to be still. This may be a time to be still it doesn't mean adventures stop, they just change for a time.
Happy for you guys, you found a safe and happy place - Can’t think of any other place to live. Not everyone is able to say that. 🙏you are blessed.
It's ok just "to be. One does not need to be on the move all the time!
You are parents - So you are responsible for the decisions made that is appropriately made in view of Story.... be safe... staying home is a good thing.
Traveling is overwhelming in nature, but doing so after a long static period can be more so.
I know Story has developed car sickness, but given she has rashes and a previous temperature, I wouldn't leave it to chance J, I would get a Dr's opinion. Hope she starts to feel better soon x
I totally agree. Especially viral infections (like Measles, Chickenpox or HFMD) would require around one week for recovery. Try to stay indoors first so as not to spread the virus to others. ☺️

Its not the proper time to travel J. So many restrictions because of covid. You are in a place now that many people would like to go. You are in paradise. Maybe later when everything would be atarting to loosen up.

Yes - there is an expression here in North America that sums up what you are saying: You roll with the punches; in other words you adapt to what the day throws at you. Another one that my mother would often use was: 'It was not meant to be today' and sometimes we would hear back that if we had gone either there was an accident on the road or would rain so hard that would make roads impassible while postpone it for a later date made the trip/outing a lot more enjoyable.
Sacha no need to explain yourself (though we appreciate it) Everyone has become anxious or super careful or thinking a lot about going out after the lockdown. Just be extra cautious when travelling nowadays. 😍😍😍

Please take Story to a doctor after fever and rash obviously she seems like she may still be sick. Do you have a Hospital on island? Has she had any vaccines for childhood diseases measles, mumps, chickenpox etc. Do you have an international health plan? We wish Story the best. Since the adults lived in the UK then you probably received your immunizations to enter school. I think a doctor is now in order.
Don’t worry too much, everything will be okay. These are the best days of your life with your daughters. I have experienced you anxiety traveling with my family in a mini van, wife and two kids, from California to North Dakota in the middle of winter. Coming from the Philippines, culture, climates shocked for the kids but they survived and have enjoyed the trip, one of the best experienced of their life.
Just stay put for a while, some new strains are coming out and it's not a good idea travelling

Story is still recovering it seems, it may be better to let her get better first before you start travelling. There's no rush is there? Besides Covid is still very much around and its variants even lethal. So i do hope you guys take more precautions considering you have a kid and an aging dog. God bless your family.
And maybe get the interior esp. thr seats of that clunker disinfected too. Its been in the repair shop longer than its been on the road.

I remember when I was a little girl, I always puke in every family trip we go the whole time to the point that I don't want to travel anymore until I finished elementary school. Grateful that I overcome that when I was in high school that I can travel any time, anywhere, and anyplace be it in boat, car, bus, train, and plane... and not a puke since then. I think it's just a stage of growing up for me.
So did I. But travelling quite a distance to go to school in high school - we moved to Imus, Cavite and my school was in Taft Avenue (Adamson University) in Manila - must have cured my motion sickness.

I happened when I brought my nephew with us I gave him half tablet of vonamin tablet before riding in the car, Since then we don’t have problem anymore when we had a long travel by land.
Try traveling with open windows, that helps breathing and feeling wind or air in the car. Position her where she can focus looking out the front where you are heading or outside rather than parts of your car cushions.
Why do you think it's road sickness? She is ill with high temperatures.

Story have rashes and fever? Tigdas hangin or measles, some local know that and doctor. Egg, chicken can make it more itchy.

I do suffer driving sickness too when sitting at the back for a long time during road trip. But i love long road trips as long as i sit in front or the middle part of the car. Yes, ginger tea helps a lot.
I had travel sickness when i was younger. It’s probably also because Story was just recovering from sickness.
Just do the things that makes you happy! Thats all that matters! Difficulties, problems and hindrances will always be there. What matters most is the dittermination that is in our hearts. With the pandemic happening around us, many have been experiencing bad mental problems, and kids dont need to experience this. As long as we will always keep in mind to be safe in everything that we will do.
Be extra careful of where u r heading do more research in terms of your'e travel plan always think of everyone when going around the island safety first. Be alway's safe than sorry. Hug and kisses to Eden and Story.

Sach it could be because of the things that happened lately, Story getting sick, car not being in a good state and your still observing Eden's behavior to make sure she'll be okay. That's normal of you to want just to stay put, I guess also because you love your place. And I agree, once you start travelling you might have a change of mind. I also get that same feeling like yours but I wanted to stay put in a place by the beach just like you.😁
Maybe what triggered Story’s rash is the small cucumber she ate at school. I’m not sure but we don’t those
Jay dengue fever symptoms include very high fever,body malaise,and then rashes . Pls check if her rashes are petechiae, its like the shell of the crab, redish flat rashes. Do u know that the most dangerous time for dengue fever is after the fever or the afebrile state and the rashes appear. Thats when the platelet gies down. Pls have her checked, let her have a cbc platelet count.
Its perfectly ok Sacha to want to stay home and hang out there, i say this because i'm happy doing just that, i'm a home body and my dearest wife is also, but we are all different i guess. Love to you all, Story is a treasure, we love her very much. You're lucky, we don't have any kids, been married 25 years coming up April 6th. Its a really idyllic place you all live in now waking up to that beautiful ocean and seeing life all around. The small crabs you have come to respect and embracing the amazing start of a day taking in a sunrise. You are both wonderful parents to Story and Edan so its natural to feel some issues about traveling around with them as you have found the perfect nest. I also traveled to many places in my career always loving coming home at the end of each journey. Life is about making positive memories as much as possible. Its a wonderful insight to your lives hearing you both consider many things about the need to travel around and must say I loved seeing the Philippines through your channel just around Siargao so far in the last seven months or so since i subscribed.
