I prefer to use a 20w50 non synthetic oil, I find the slightly thicker oil helps with the oil smoke cloud on startup. But really ANY syn or non syn oil will work. But to each there own.
@@TheBMWGuy yep I use 20w50 mineral oil as well , seen other posts that fully synthetic can work it's way past crank oil seals when old and hardened up a bit.
Just to add - important to check that the oil filter comes off with the seal attached - else the new filter will not seal properly.
Found your channel on BMW Philippines. You just earned my sub 👍
Welcome aboard!
YAY!!
As far as I know for general, putting a new oil filled oil filter, lubricated o-ring with the old oil is recommended
BMW does not specify to fill the filter with oil but it doesn't hurt
@@TheBMWGuy yeah, but while the engine runs first time without the oil, it should be better to have oil in the filter for lubrication
With modern engines and oils a few seconds of no oil is completely harmless. @@demiratmotovlog
