I bought a 2003 K 1200 RS a little over a year ago and watched this video and it made it easy for me to change the final drive and transmission oil and then obviously I changed my oil as well. Thank you for your great video, Mark

Thanks a lot for your effort of making such a video! I just bought a 1998 K1200RS and I am going to do the oil changes you show in your video. Your video helped me to assure, that my preparations for the oil change are correct. Grettings from Germany, the homecountry of your bike...

Just saw you created a new video about final drive + gearbox oil that is more complete than the older video you had. Good job - keep it up!!

Hi, please, I've bought a BMW K 1200 RS 2005 96kw machine and I'm having a bit of trouble finding the service manual and I need to know what oils I need to replace. Could you advise me and specify and possibly supplement with a specific product? Some sources say that the same oil can be used for both the drive shaft and the gearbox, while others say otherwise. I'm confused about that.
    1. Engine oil
    2. Oil for the drive shaft
    3. Oil for the gearbox
Also, I have a few additional questions:
    4. What coolant do you use?
    5. Air filter
    6. Brake fluid
    7. Spark plugs
    Thanks a lot.
    BTW. thanks for the video!!!

Very European friendly, thankyou. My K1000RS SE 2002 was originally from Atlanta America and brought over to Northern Ireland

Yea it should be done at same time since it's so easy. Still making one to replace fuel pump and filter. Mine failed. So the video will show how to go about troubleshooting a no start condition. Trying to cut it down in length. Might make it in a few parts. Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the very useful video! I imagine these would be a similar approach for a BMW K75?

it is weird the dealer gave you that oil, because my workshop manual recommends it should be 75W-90 , from what i hear W80-90 would be ok aswell

hello, I wonder what is your opinion about the engine oil to K1200RS, mine is 1998 and I want to know is the most suitable will be synthetic or mineral. Thank you!

What type of gearbox oil did you use?

Tough question. I am taking the advise of a professional BMW mechanic Chris Harris. Who says to use mineral oil. Because synthetic oil causes oil leaks on the engine. My engine has no leaks so far! Synthetic for final drive and transmission. Oil though. But I don't think synthetic would do any harm. And you could change oil less frequently.
