9:35 Ross Island Sand & Gravel unofficially built a lot of Burnside stake park, because the drivers would come and drop off the left over concreate they had at the end of the days shift for the skaters to use. Ross Island Sand & Gravel also helped to build the Burnside Bridge that the skatepark is under.
Cool Bart shirt! That skate park is cool. Legendary! How could they tear it down? They are making a Bartman figure --a company called Super 7. You should check it out broski. That's a cool mural to honor that skater. That doesn't surprise me with feral cats in that area. My ex girlfriend is a cat lady and lives near that area and has feral cats she feeds around her place. That churro donut looks good. That was a scary "shadow" kreeper on a cruiser eating a donut 😂
Used to skate there in 1990 before I left for Desert Storm. Back then the interesting thing was that skateboarding was illegal in the 12 sq blocks of downtown on the west side of the river. In 1976 a kid hit an old lady and she broke her hip. So we spent plenty of time running from cops down there so when Burnside was getting put together it was like the great hope for Portland skaters. But what happened was this immediate Locals Only attitude that was mimicking the surf spots in California. Every time you’d go there people would harass you for being from the westside and god forbid you had new wheels, you were a poser. And people would try to run you off. Btw the horse cops had skate keys and they would confiscate one of your wheels if they caught you in the illegal zone, so we always carried spares! When I came back to skate in 92 it was basically a drug den . I went back a few times after that but it’s never been a welcoming place that promoted or painted a good light on the skater community.
THey better not! That place is too legendary. Its a damn national landmark! Theres people from ALL OVER THE WORLD that come to Portland just to bask in the greatness that is Burnside. Yes, when you scrape youre knee theres a 43% chance you will contract hep C. Yes on hot summer days it may smell like bum puke and BO. Yes the locals there arent the nicest to skate with. BUt thats all the charm in the place! SAVE BURNSIDE!
I wish the city would put some of that money into fixing some of our Portland streets that are full of potholes. Hopefully Burnside Skate Park stays, it's iconic!!
Remeber like 8 years ago when that "vigalante" was on news for filling potholes and was told to stop because it makes it hard for the city to have to re-fill them, but the city will never fill the potholes
Ya know I don't think the city funds Burnside...they keep talking about getting rid of Madison skate park to.to much noise..crazy..folks need things fun things to do I think..Burnside had a lot of movies filmed there Jackass, Bam Margera came there...geeez

Dude, i wanted tosee Burnside and yours was the latest video. Thanks. So many good years of safety meetings and PBRs. And crazy shit. Holloween parties with star trekky band members. RVs and chainsaws. Shit goes on. The smell of Tzo tea being made. BBQs. The place looks so damn smooth now. . . Knew a New Zealander that moved to portland, OR just to skate Burnside.
Sad to see all the artwork going away. The new one should be great, though. I wonder how much it cost to put the rocks there. Maybe could’ve done something to help the homeless instead 🧐 Have a nice weekend, my friend 👍😊💕👍

The skatepark might not even be there if it wasn't for the fact that there used to be a Hotel alongside the Bridge they tried to remodel it adding some floors but the city didn't want it them to add the floors and they started already and the construction meant they had to close the place down and homeless people got in the basement and apparently the city said it just couldn't be cleaned I remember they had a area for a under sidewalk vault door in the sidewalk of the Burnside Bridge so I think the property owners went bankrupt because I know that that area parsley under the sidewalk on the bridge would be considered to be private you know you've seen those things in downtown areas you have that little elevator thing I think it's really a lift

City had promised several new parks. Twenty total in the city limits. They won’t tear any out. It would add too much to the cost.
