Lance Henrikson is probably the most underrated actor from the 80s and 90s. He is in so many good movies and always gives great performances. Even when he is in bad movies, his performances elevate the quality of the overall film. Call me crazy, but I think he deserved an Oscar nod for "Near Dark".

Thank you for not sensationalizing or speculating about his suicide, as others wouldn’t be so kind and respectful. I’ve lost several friends to suicide in the past few years. All were pillars in the music community and left behind an incredible legacy to remember them by, but the pain has never really subsided. You can never tell by looking at someone what battles they’re fighting. Thank you for including that last part. Your tone sounded as though you’ve had to endure something just as painful before. Thank you for all the effort you put into these videos too. I’ve probably quoted more facts I’ve learned from you about movies than I have any behind the scenes featurette or director’s commentary. Speaking as someone who lost their best friend to suicide some 20+ years ago - there is ALWAYS someone out there who cares. Not a day goes by that I don't think about the experiences my friend has missed out on in life. The old saying "Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem" is the truest statement ever.
As a psychologist and someone who deals with depression myself I truly appreciate your open and honest approach to the matter of mental health. Small gestures like these really make a difference. Thanks, Cecil.
No problem. Depression is a beast that even I have fallen victim to. I know a simple thing like hearing that someone cares can really make a difference.

For people who haven't read the original Frankenstein, I'd highly recommend it. It has very little in common with the 1930's film adaptation, and is far deeper in scope, exploring issues like morality, fear, trust, duty, hatred, etc. and how these elements can come to fruition in regards to self, family, community, and even species. It's also, in some sense, an early postulation of the dangers that science can bring into the world, which are later echoed in reality with such things as nuclear weaponry and artificial intelligence. That being said, it's not a pleasant read, given that it's more of a tragedy and drama than a horror novel.

BTW: Jeffrey Jones as a clown? That has to be the creepiest thing ever.
Absolutely.
What really happened to Jeffrey Jones is creepier 😐
@@davidvega462 Yeah talk about harsher in hindsight.
@@davidvega462 I know. That's what I was referring to.
@@davidvega462 Vastly overblown like Jackson.
Great movie. I remember watching this when it came out. Great cast and great execution. Thanks Cecil.
Remember seeing this when I was younger and it had just come out....I thought it was great and really need to do another watch through. Also I loved Corpse Killer....that damn game wasted tons of my time back when
I’m amazed the guy who directed Man’s Best Friend ALSO directed Corpse Killer!
The scene from Friday along with trailers for when it was in theaters are things I remembered from this film that is why it sticks for me
You should have more subs you do a great job
I rewatched this recently, enjoyed the hell out of it! Great work Cecil! Hope your feeling better.
That's your ass mr. Postman.... the clip was in the movie Friday. R.I.P John Witherspoon. Oh didn't know they would mention that.
I used to watch this all the time in the 90's on the USA Network. Good stuff.
The scene where the dog jumps over the cop cars made me and my buddies rofl for hours
9:55, that scene was in Friday the movie, with Johnny Witherspoon saying, "it's your ass Mr mailman!" Lol!
Lol, yeah, i'd already seen Man's Best Friend, so I instantly recognized it in that scene, in Friday. That became an iconic line for John Witherspoon, & he used it again, in an episode of the Boondocks.
@@brandonpage7087 I don't get why a dog catcher is so happy about that part
He said Mr. Postman actually.
@@dontdiscriminatehateeveryo9263 Ok thanks! 😉

big up to good bad flicks. always a good time.
I've been waiting for you to cover this!! I love this movie, I watched it multiple times as a kid :)
Thanks for doing this film! I remember watching it with my mom as a child and my dad rushed in and said "They're chasing OJ on Fox!". We never finished it but it always stuck with me. Keep surprising us!
I remember as a kid our local Video Rental Store had this in their horror section. Was never allowed to rent it, but I always liked looking at its box art with the robot dog.
