In the late 80’s, early 90’s, I was a single mom of 3, barely making ends meet. But every Friday we went to Blockbuster and they each got a movie and then we got pizza delivered. This movie and Ghostbusters were on perpetual rotation. I watched them dozens of times with my kids. Great memories were made. Now I wish I could go back, even just for a day. Jack Burton's quotes are legendary. Can you imagine if Kurt played Han Solo in Star Wars? What does that mean? "Force is strong"? I don't even know what the hell that means. All I know is this Vader character comes out of thin air in the middle of a goddamn hallway while the stormtroopers are shooting everywhere yet still can't hit a target, and he just stands there waiting for me to shoot straight through him, with red light coming out of his sword.
Fun fact: this movie was one of the main inspirations for the Mortal Kombat videogame franchise. So... thank you John Carpenter & Kurt Russell, not only for giving us a kickass movie but also helping in the creation of a beloved videogame franchise. Also, young Kim Cattrall was smoking hot!
Another funny videogame trivia, the whole Jack Burton not being the "Hero" but focus on him would later be an inspiration for Metal Gear Solid 2 where we play as Raiden instead of Solid Snake.
My friend Kurt showed me this movie, on a pirated VHS tape, at his house shortly after it came out. Someone in his family somehow knew someone and he always had early pirates, but I digress. That's how me and my brothers were too! One of them sent me this video as a matter of fact. He said it was the best review of Big Trouble In Little China. I had to click. I laughed almost the whole time just now. 😂
I absolutely love this movie. Jack Burton, the sidekick who is convinced that he is the hero. In reality Wang Chi is the hero. He has the hero ark. Restaurant owner who's girlfriend was kidnapped by an evil, supernatural entity has to fight against all odds to get her back. I think people back then didn't understand how ahead of it's time this movie was. PS.: Kim Cattrall was an absolute eye opener.
When this came out on VHS, we watched it all the time that summer. God today's movies suck and I really feel bad for the kids who don't have role models like Jack Burton. The end scene when they ask him if he's going to kiss her goodbye and he says "Nope". Just legendary!

@@jjones9822 IDK if any of this is true, but I've read/heard a few different times that Carpenter wanted to do a sequel to The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension but couldn't get the rights or some shit, so the ideas he had for that sequel became Big Trouble in Little China.
One of the finest movies made. Not a single moment is wasted. Exposition arrives with new characters, action moves along the story and everything fits together perfectly. Wonderful fun.
I wore the VHS copy of this out as a kid. Still my favorite movie of all time. It’s just fun. And Jack Burton being unaware he’s the sidekick the whole movie is genius.

Ill be honest, this film scared me as a 5 year old when my family got the VHS. Pretty sure it was the dude exploding scene..but i love the film as a 40 year old who misses “the good ole days”.
@@mikehunt4986 Christmas 87 was the year my family got a VCR & I recorded every film shown on tv, & this was one of them. Nothing is more Christmas to me than Big Trouble.
Totally awesome choice. "Big Trouble" and "The Thing" are two of my favorite movies ever, John Carpenter and Kurt Russell were a terrific team. I saw them when I was a teenager... endlessly quotable, the both of them.

Knew a Vietnamese dude whose parents came to the States after the war ended. He was born and raised in a Latino section of town. He acted and dressed like a cholo. Spoke Spanish fluently. Had kids with a Mexican girl.
I think he was referring to Okamora's character 'cause of the revolvers and bandoliers. I could be wrong, this dude's references come fiercer than a Lesli Nielsen movie 😂
Dude your amazing, you did 2 outta 3 of my favorite movies. All I need is for you to do "They Live" and that's it my life is complete. ( Big trouble, and fifth element)
Just watched this last night. My mom and I would watch this together and laugh all the way through. Good times. You missed the magical road water that healed his eyes from the old man’s green death rays
can confirm as a kid I loved this movie. It always sort of pissed me off though there was no second movie. I wanted to know what happened to Jack when he discovered the werewolf lurking under his truck at the end. Alas they never properly advertised its release. They originally thought it was a flop because of low theater numbers. Boy were they wrong, the movie is epic.
Just one the most fun films ever made....I watch it when I feel down, and alone...cuz it just lifts you up with its good humour, and Jack's indomitable spirit.
Seriously im not exaggerating this but this channels writing and editing puts it at top tier mode already, but with the narrators voice and delivery on top elevates it to god tier mode. Nothing makes me laugh like his videos. By far the best comedy content being produced right now, anywhere. Every now and then the TH-cam algorithm throws you a gem and this channel is best find I've had.
A pure action comedy classic. This is something modern Hollywood doesn't understand with their heroes, Jack Burton is cool, he may be an idiot, he might be straight forward, but everything about him sweat coolness. Carpenter and Russell was a killer duo and will always be.
Okay, this is my Kurt Russell movie but considering the brilliant characters and movies he portrayed and made, it's still a difficult choice. Used cars also such an underrated comedy.
My favorite movie of all time. Jack is so likable, it’s funny but just a good time movie. It felt like the old Indiana Jones movies, just an adventure.

@@jjones9822 Yup. Today's version would have at least 2 black lesbians.
Today's movies are good. Get over it.
Decades ago, my best pals asked me what was my fav movie of all-time was. Mind you we were all nerds, so Empire Strikes Back, Indiana Jones, Alien, Aliens, Terminator, T2, etc were all mentioned. I told them BTILC & they were floored. THIS IS THE GREATEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME! JACK BURTON ON THE PORK CHOP EXPRESS! YESSIR, THE CHECK IS IN THE MAIL!
It's good to not be cliché. I think Dr. Strangelove is one of the best films ever but hey, I'm old.
You forgot Die Hard, Robocop, Bloodsport, and the list goes on ta-dump ta-dump da da (but yeah, you're right)
Another brilliant recap… just wow… there isn’t another person on earth that could have done better.. you sir are a true American hero.. shine bright and carry on..
Bro still didn't forget to diss Steven Seagal
Every movie it should be mandatory to Diss Steven Seagal at least once in the flick !
This is legit my favorite movie of all time, and I am struggling to remember the last time I laughed this hard. Thank you so much.
I was sick as a dog most of today. When I felt better, my daughter came over and we watched tremors and she demanded that we watch Big trouble in Little China afterwards.
I parented good
Excellent parenting ! Props to you .
Yes you did real good!
You’ve just made so many people happy by doing this. 😎
Tellin a widow her husband is out cheating instead of got ate by a giant 80s spider is always the smart move
Very considerate. Recommend it next time your buddy's wife gets widowed via giant ghoul spider in a cave.
Bill Burr getting absolutely Swanson’d in this one. 😂
..."and some captain planet shit is happening."
I'm dead.😂😂😂😂
When I was young I yearned for a sequel to this movie. Now that I'm a cynical old lump of coal, I'm glad it's remained untarnished by a sequel.
Please please please, all the gods in the heavens do not allow Dwayne Johnson's production company to make the sequel they've announced.
Dude I loved your channel before this but now you r the greatest for paying tribute to this film. The greatest 80s movie ever made.
Kurt was so powerful in this movie that he shot his parts for the Hateful 8 whenever he wasn't in a scene.
tango and cash maybe
Ill be honest, this film scared me as a 5 year old when my family got the VHS. Pretty sure it was the dude exploding scene..but i love the film as a 40 year old who misses “the good ole days”.
Oh to go back for a day or a thousand
Same here dude!
Lo Pan and the hairy monster freaked me out.
But i still watched the hell out of this movie.
I have something for you all. No matter what movie you think is the best movie ever made. Big Trouble In Little China will always be better.
“Human trafficking victims have all the luck” made me laugh way harder than it was probably considered appropriate to 😂💀
My absolute favourite Christmas movie. Been watching it every year since 1987.
Christmas?
@@mikehunt4986 Yes why not ?? for the Chinese it's Chinese New Year Festival 😂.
You read any of the sequel graphic novels? Picks up right after the movie ends. Really good.
No, no, Die Hard Is the movie you watch on Christmas. B.T.I.L.C is a Valentines day movie. At its heart its a love story about a man and his truck.
Damn, I love this movie - it showed the world, that Chinese Black magic in the 80's was cool.
When you called Old Man Lopan Bill Burr, i literally spit out my coffee!😅😅😅
When I was a kid, every time me and my brothers wouldn't know what to watch, we would just get the VHS out of its box and watch this. "yes sir the check is is in the mail " fucking legendary
Well done to the producers in casting Al Leong to represent the Latino community
Knew a Vietnamese dude whose parents came to the States after the war ended. He was born and raised in a Latino section of town. He acted and dressed like a cholo. Spoke Spanish fluently. Had kids with a Mexican girl.
I’m white but grew up in Mexico. I’m basically JD from American Me or Miklo from blood in blood out
I’m white but grew up in Westminster California. Wrap your head around that.
@skyneta1a horale carnal
I think he was referring to Okamora's character 'cause of the revolvers and bandoliers.
I could be wrong, this dude's references come fiercer than a Lesli Nielsen movie 😂
"Human trafficking victims have all the luck" I lost it 😂
He got me with "Yoshimity Sam"
Henry Swanson to to the red headed elderly woman: "Pshshhfft"
This film was a significant portion of my childhood.
O.M.G I can't stop laughing & crying,😂😂😂🤣🤣 I needed this! I'm so Subscribing. I can't wait to see all the videos!!! I found gold!
That scene where the 3 storms drop in at the funeral was so damn epic. Always loved this classic.
Dude your amazing, you did 2 outta 3 of my favorite movies. All I need is for you to do "They Live" and that's it my life is complete. ( Big trouble, and fifth element)
When he said "Bill Burr" I almost died.
I'm watching this again and You've been Swansoned! is now part of my everyday speech pattern.
"he already did, you stuck up b!tch.." had me rolling for real. Even woke up my wife laughing.
Just watched this last night. My mom and I would watch this together and laugh all the way through. Good times. You missed the magical road water that healed his eyes from the old man’s green death rays
He does the best commentary for 80's and 90's movies....and what ever you would call what Steven Seagal does
Steven Seagal grossed over 2 billion at the box office.
@@djcease1996 To be precise, he's grossed out over 2 billion people by being gross
@@djcease1996 We know it's you Steven, and no, we're not letting you come back, you stay there in Russia and you like it
@@djcease1996 he launders 1 billion for the russian mob per movie
@@maxpowers6804he started with the Italian mob
That little smile and nod "Swanson" gives after his 2 punches to the face of magical warrior dude have 0 effect is priceless. . .
can confirm as a kid I loved this movie.
I could watch this movie on repeat constantly. Literally the most fun you can have watching a movie. The fact this bombed is ridiculous.
One of my favorite childhood movies. Confirmed banger by Jack Burton.
"Yoshimite Sam"
Had me dying
This movie was and still is legend imo. I remember working at the AMC movie theater when it came out. I can still watch this anytime it comes on tv.
I spent way more than I should have on the Blu-Ray version of Used Cars
Yeah it’s really good. Just got evenly watched that one. I feel like the thing is just as good as this but they are so different
“That’s too fu**ing high!” 💥 🤣
Big Trouble in Little China by Space Ice? I clicked the “thumbs up” before the video started.. 😂
My favorite movie of all time. Jack is so likable, it’s funny but just a good time movie. It felt like the old Indiana Jones movies, just an adventure.
Thank you Mr. Ice for reviewing my favorite movie
Love it. It's one of Kurt Russell's most underrated films and a solid John Carpenter film.
