  • Stephen Sackur is in Paris as France gears up for a presidential election which promises to test levels of political anger and disillusionment. He speaks to the long-time leader of the National Rally party Marine Le Pen who, for the third time, is vying to win the Elysee. With the far-right divided, has Le Pen lost her potency?

le pen is well spoken, but there is nothing sweet about her. She is nasty and would let violence happen against muslims and other ethnic minorities if she became president

Clever woman. I hope that French citizens will realise what she could do for them. She could turn it all around, she is not in politics for money, she is a true patriotic fighter and I'm with her 100%. Go Le Pen!

She is very impressive. Although French is beautiful, I wish she could speak English so we could hear her voice more around the world

I think speaking in French works to her advantage in these interviews because it minimizes the interruptions from the interviewers and allows both sides to be heard. It is, after all, usually a debate rather than an interview with these hostile interviewers. And when both sides have a chance to be presented, Le Pen's common sense shines through very clearly.

    lol she destroyed that interviewer

Yes. AND AGAIN. She had an interview with this same nincompoop 7 or so years ago and he asked the same stupid questions and got destroyed then too. Search "hard talk marine" on youtube that brought it up for me. She is excellent with these hostile interviewers. She made mincemeat of Christiane Amonpour as well recently.

Marie Lopen well prepared politician, all her arguments are based on a realistic theory, such leadership will certainly solve many challenging problems that French people's encountered for the last decades. Wishing Marie Lopen Good Luck for the French Presidential Election 2022.

le pen would try to kick you out of france just for being muslim if she got into power. She's a racist who hides her neo nazi views to get votes. There will be a mass exodus of non-whites and non-christians if she is elected.

BBC Hardtalk, an excuse for rudeness and arrogance ! Cutting off the interviewee in mid sentence, looking down and not at the person. typical Western arrogance. Your arrogance and judgemental behaviour will be your downfall.

Amazing MLP as usual, i'm french (obviously) and it always amaze me how journalists show their ideology in the way they put questions.. Even without clear reasons to lie about french politics they still do, and hide the truth very clearly.. specially on unemployment and economic growth.. Saying that everything is is much better thanks to Macron just makes laugh EVERY French people whatever its political opinion.. I wish she will win, but if Macron or Pecresse were to win, France will loose even more on every aspect and it will end in a hard and bloody revolution and poverty. All indicators are RED after 5 years of Hollande and 5 years of Macron..

To me it's upsetting that you and many other french people have these views - Le Pen wouldn't even get 5% of the vote in the UK, which sadly shows how divisive and toxic France has become that it has gotten to the point where she is one of the leading candidates. On a side note, it is a shame that this video doesn't have more views and the UK doesn't take enough interest in French politics.

@@1v1rust30 It's really funny to hear that when UK left the EU because of immigration.. Clean your own house i would say! Now, i don't know UK medias but if it's like in France, i suspect they love lying, misjudging, putting fake labels even if the program don't reflect these lies.. And if she's that high and against Macron there is a reason.. A little something you probably didn't know about her, she was an advocate before, and she represented loads of clandestine people for free and help many stay in France instead of been sent back in Africa.. And, in French islands (DOM-TOM) like ile maurice a majority of people are muslims, yet they always vote in large majority for her.. Weird right if she's a racist!

@@1v1rust30 Have you been to the UK mate? The British people have been suppressed to the point where it would be seen illegal to run a party like hers.... If France go for Macron again, they would very much end in the same way as the UK. But if your dream is to lose freedom of speech, go for Macron; he will lead you there.

@@antoine52200 don't get me wrong the UK is also a racist country, but we would never consider voting in far right parties - her closest allies in her party say they want to get rid of black and Muslim people and you're telling me she's not racist? There is no doubt she is a racist

@@pandamaci3 I am British and live in London, I can tell you I get on just fine with those around me regardless of their background - yes the British National Party are the equivalent to National Rally, they are both fascist far right parties that have no place in modern society and spread hate and fear
