    The problem with laser removal isn't just the hygiene, it's potentially blinding yourself and others by not wearing proper eye protection or knowing what you're doing

    • @BlindBabeBeth
      @BlindBabeBeth ปีที่แล้ว +107

      Nothing irks me more than preventable blindness. I'm going blind, but it's genetic so I have no choice. People who make these kinds of choices, don't truly understand how important our sight is and end up seriously hurting themselves.

      Any chargeable “laser” is never going powerful enough to do any real damage, doesn’t make it right but the laser in our studio requires special industrial power outlets as it runs at such high power a standard outlet would fry. Which is at least something. It’s still dangerous and very irresponsible just like doing your own tattoos in the first place !

      @EmissaryofWind ปีที่แล้ว +10

      You're also burning stuff with the laser! Obviously the machine is designed and the frequency is selected to only act on a specific color but it's very much a controlled burn and you need to know what you're doing to do it properly and not give yourself burns

    The neck tattoo one was kind of a huge difference!
    Just adding a slight tiny pop of bronzer around the jawbone can completely reframe your face to look differently and that ink was super saturated so I totally see what that girl was saying.
    I love her kind and positive attitude though! She wasn't pushing the blame anywhere and the artist is nice also and willing to try to fix it if needed!
    I know your face probably needs to be clean, but if I were in that situation I'd maybe draw a dot on my face before coming in or like put a little sticker right where I want it to start or something because it can be difficult, especially in the excitement of the moment when it is happening, to go too fast or just miss something so it's always good to double check.
    Hope everything turns out okay though! She DOES have a very striking jaw line, and where she drew it on herself the first time just extenuates that- but either way she is still so pretty!!

    • @lexvt3551
      @lexvt3551 ปีที่แล้ว +31

      I think a Sharpie mark is fine, artists use it after all and I don't think once they clean the area it will fully fade. But yeah, I agree - I'd have to make sure it was my jawline. The way she wanted it looked really good, and like you said, she doesn't look bad - but her way was better.

      I went in to get my first tattoo on my forearm at the end of January and I'm so glad my artist insisted on moving the stensil a bit after she put it on. It was slightly off centre initially and in the moment I was just so excited at the prospect of getting my first tattoo that I didn't really notice or care that it was off centre but my artist insisted on moving it ever so slightly to the side to centre it better

    i have feelings about tattoo pricings,
    i completely agree with everything you said here, but i'd like to add that i think it's completely fine to "negotiate" on the tattoo/price range. what i mean is, if you want x tattoo, but it's above your budget, it should be okay to ask if the design or size could be altered to something that falls within the budget (for example, simplify designs, downsize, go from colors to black and white, things like that)

    • @brandiehammond
      @brandiehammond ปีที่แล้ว +20

      I’ve done that a couple times and it also depends on the area as well. One area with a certain size vs another area I was able to change as the previous placement/size I wanted was more than I had originally expected, artist was cool about it and got where I could in my price range. It ended up being better in the 2nd location in the long run 😊

    • @xxzenn01xx9
      @xxzenn01xx9 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      I think the negotiating theyre discussing lies within the hourly rate, or the total cost of a single piece unchanged. Most good artists are definitely willing to help you figure out what to do for w/e your budget is.

    • @EmissaryofWind
      @EmissaryofWind ปีที่แล้ว +33

      Yeah, the question shouldn't be "can you do that for cheaper" but "what can you do within my budget". I've definitely done something similar, not for a tattoo but a piece of custom art where the price for the style I initially wanted was a bit more than I was willing to spend, so we talked about it and I ended up getting a piece in a simpler style.

      100%
      I gave myself a s&p when I was going through a drug addiction, and honestly I like it better than my professionally done tattoos, it has a lot of meaning to me. But there’s a huge difference between a needle just penetrating the upper layers of your flesh in a way that carries scarring and infection risk and little besides, and a laser, which could damage your eyes, cause blindness, cause burning, scarring, serious wounds… I mean, heck, even if *you* are doing everything right, what about the equipment? That Amazon laser could be poorly designed or manufactured, it could suffer a technological fault. And honestly there is something very sad about not realising that you’re *still going through it.* The lack of self-care, self-confidence, appreciation for the miraculous thing that you are, that allows you to do a stick and poke, really isn’t that much removed from the state of mind that tells you to pick up a laser you bought from Amazon. You’re not better, things aren’t fixed, you’re not returning to baseline. You’re still showing that lack of love for your body. Different day; same conversation.

    That last one looked about a centimetre higher on the cheek because the mole that was previously visible in the pics looking towards you was completely hidden by the tattoo. But I can totally understand that she got excited in the moment and that it would be a shock to the system after.
    I'm terrified about that laser device, they don't even come with eye protection, holy shit someone is going to end up with permanently damaging their eyes and probably their skin. Not to mention the complete lack of any kind of hygiene around using it too. You know how lackadaisical people are with tattoo machines they buy on amazon, wtf are they gonna be like with a laser device. Terrifying.
    I agree with you completely about the artist who made the comment about designer gear. He knows nothing about where that gear came from or if it's even genuine, it could all be thrifted, it could be gifts or even inherited, it could be stuff they bought when they had money and now no longer do, etc. It strikes me so much of people who give homeless people shit for having a mobile phone. That said, if you are in a position where you're struggling to pay rent, maybe a tattoo is not your priority at the moment.

    I don’t know man. I feel like that last girl got done dirty. The client can say yes to not so great placement but ultimately the responsibility lies with the artist and their name/reputation on the line. Once she laid back on the table, it would have been easy to triple check the reference photo and see the line hit above her jaw line instead of under. It would have been better to have left it a little low and she could have added to it later but there’s no going back now.

    • @SewFloSewing
      @SewFloSewing 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I feel the same, I think the reference photos are very different from the tattoo especially along her jaw and cheek where the mole is, the shape as it curves to a stop too. The one she drew on herself looks really good and complimented her face shape so much better. Hopefully she can use makeup to help.

    About mediocre tattoo artists posting inappropriate pictures of their clients, the real bummer is when the talented ones do it.
    There's a guy in my country who is objectively amazing at what he does, some would even say one of the best here, but his whole Instagram is filled with semi-pornographic photos of his female clients. I'm talking tons of provocative videos of girls slowly raising their miniskirts or pulling down their underwear to reveal their tattoos, pictures of stomach pieces taken boobs-first, selfies of his face next to a client's butt, etc. Every time his posts find their way on my feed my stomach turns because of how slimy and creepy he seems, and it's so frustrating because his tattoos are really fucking great

      @peanutbrittle ปีที่แล้ว +4

      i feel like talented artists who do that KNOW they're talented and people aren't really gonna call them out for their slimy behavior (even tho they absolutely should be called out) because they're so talented

    I am so glad I found the right tattoo artist for me, he is so freakin respectful and always asked if it’s ok if he can place his arm here or there or saying would it be ok if I were to move your skin this way? Every time I’m there I feel so comfortable and at ease with everyone in the shop!

    My grandma passed in November. I got her handwriting years ago. She loved it. I had a tattoo booked a month before she passed and I got it 2 days after her funeral. It meant more after cleaning out her stuff and finding the CD and song it represents. I’ve gotten 2 more for her since.

    I’ve gotten both of my wrists tattooed and breezed through it, as well as most of my arms, I just didn’t find any of them painful. Then yesterday I got my inner elbow ditch done - the whole time he was doing the outline I was hearing ‘a little bit spicy there, not gonna lie’ in your accent 😅

It was just the outline so far, but im glad it didnt actually hurt as bad as i thought it might. There were a few spicy spots like the wrist for sure lol. But i honestly cant wait for my next big session in September when we do shading and maaaybe some coloring! Someday ill even add it to your pile of subscriber tattoos! Lol

    I was going to get my first tattoo and the first shop I went to told me $750 the tattoo was literally like 2.5” in diameter and not detailed at all and super simple. I was like ok thank I’m going to have to pass for now. And the guy absolutely flipped out. Don’t come into my shop if you’re not willing to get tattooed and pay right this minute. I am not a person who is super confrontational so I was at a loss for words because I’ve never had someone speak to me in that way that I was seeking their business.

    I don't haggle the prices of tattoos either and I see that artist's point buuuuuuuuut... I've seen Chanel at Goodwill. It could've been fake but that's not the point. The point is thrift stores sometimes have designer things for really cheap. Like if they wear expensive perfume, it could be a sample. It sounds like they deal with lowballers a lot so they were probably venting but someone's attire isn't always a tattletale on their finances. I still agree that haggling is rude though. Just set up sessions and save to get it. I mean, tattoos are a want not a need. 😂💚🖤
