I love how Laurens standards for home-tattooing seem to get lower with every episode lol. So even if the tattoo turns out horrendous it's like "well... I've seen worse" or "at least thei're wearing gloves". Sad world we live in
My classmate recently got a tattoo machine off Amazon and has been tattooing himself. They're actually really good and he needs to get an apprenticeship.
The person who left in the middle of their tattoo broke my heart... I'm plus-sized and got my sternum tattooed about a week and a half ago (currently in the itchy phase 😭) and the artist could not have been more lovely. I literally left the studio a different person, feeling so much more confident in my own skin because of the way she spoke about it; she literally made me feel like such a badass and said she was proud of me for being able to reclaim my own body after years of feeling so anxious about it. I can't imagine what it would have done for my self-esteem if an artist treated me that way and any "artist" who feels like it's okay to talk about anyone's body like that is in the wrong job. I'm so glad they were able to leave safely. It's happening all too often and while I know it's not *all* men, I have to say, since I started only going to female tattoo artists I haven't had a single bad experience 🤷♀
I love that you have a sense of re claiming your own body after a difficult time with it. I can relate to those feelings! Hopefully I’ll get to a place where I too can get this part of my body tattooed 🤞🏼 But mainly I wanted to say I agree entirely with the last part, since I started only exclusively using female tattoo artists I’ve not had a single bad experience. However, with the few male tattoo artists I’ve been to I had multiple poor experiences ..how frustrating in this day & age. It has put me off going to male artists in future even though there’s 1 or 2 I would’ve loved to get some pieces by 😢
That horrible tattoo artist deserves to be called out. That kind of comment has no place in any setting, let alone when you have someone in such a vulnerable situation. I’m glad they spoke up and made it public so others feel comfortable speaking up about that creep.
For the video about the girl who left mid tattoo because of her asshat artist, I know when I first saw it she had comments on and she had so many positive comments of people telling her she isn't crazy and there was even alot of tat artists responding like "that's not right - you shouldn't of even paid him!" I think she did some update videos after
I'd have walked out without paying him the minute he started referring to my breasts as tits (especially given that he was hired for a BELLY tat. Why was he talking about her breasts at all?). That alone is entirely unprofessional, and I would not feel comfortable letting him anywhere near my body. It'd be like having a gynecologist refer to your vagina as your 'pussy' during an exam. It's just not okay.
I feel so bad for that person who went to that scumbag artist. It's already so hard to find artists that make me feel safe and comfortable, so it's taken me a while to plan certain placements I want done. All it takes is one bad enough experience from an asshole and then it makes me feel cautious of new people
Honestly, I think he did it to neg her. It is OBIVIOUS he was into her over approaching her, so a lot of shitty men will literally neg you to try and get you to sleep with them. Someone needs to tell her there is nothing wrong with her and that she is beautiful. He is just trash trying to pull some pickup artist shit on her. It has nothing to do with her.
This is why there needs to be more SAFE FOR WOMEN tattoo shops. I’m sure most women are nervous enough having to expose themselves to an artist and then to be treated so disrespectfully. It’s thoroughly disgusting.😖😖😖 What gives a man or anyone the idea that it’s okay to talk to women like that?
For anyone who thinks this reaction is dramatic, or unjustified. I had a family member make a joke about my body last summer, and it sent me into a spiral of self hatred for weeks and weeks. This stuff cuts really really deep. So for this person to speak up and protect others is a hugely brave thing :) and thank you for your commentary Lauren
My dad did that to my baby sister. He made a comment about her weight and she called me up crying. I had to rip him a new one, bringing down the thunder of the gods. He hasn't made any of those comments since I scared the living crap out of him.
This is why I always say unless someone specifically asks you for your opinion on their body keep your opinion to yourself. Even if you have good intentions or think you are saying something nice you could be unintentionally inflicting harm. I'm really sorry that that happened and I hope you are doing ok now. Whenever I feel negatively about the way I feel my body looks, I do my best to appreciate all the things it does for me/ allows me to do. Every body is an amazing wonder of nature and science. Heres to another day of existence friend.
Read the subtle art of not giving a fu**. It’s something that comes with life experience and age. You learn all the bs you were fed in school was a waste. Sometimes we grow up internalizing others fears and views. And we have to make a conscious decision to change it if we so choose. Otherwise you live your life miserably trying to please others. I know people can be hurtful, but instead of feeling bad for yourself, which is just a habit of self preservation (I’m not saying it’s wrong, just to clarify). You need to stop and realize that someone talking down about you is only a reflection of themselves. Picture what they just said and picture them saying it, now remember: they feel that way about themselves. They are just talking about themselves. You are powerful. Think of it like this, something you did was so powerful that it triggered an insecurity in them, and because they are immature they take it out on you because they aren’t mature enough to focus on themselves and their lives, they gotta tear others down to put themselves up. I feel sorry for them. Keep your head up.
Daisy, My brother in law teased me about my weight... This pissed me off & I called him bean pole.. I literally told him that he needs to gain weight Even my sister told him to stop
to all women out there, stay safe! please NEVER get tattooed alone in a place that's not a professional studio. Houses, garages, apartments, those are not environments for safety tattoo practice, not to mention sexual predators are out there waiting to use their 'skills' to take advantage. I know going to a studio does not eliminate the sexual harassment/abuse one can experience, but you will have a place to denounce to authorities. I know getting tattooed can be crazy expensive, when it comes to our health, our bodies is always best to wait. If an artist is that great for you to pay without the proper conditions, ask them to come over to safe place and dont be alone, unless is someone you can trust. The tattoo world is full of bullies and predators, lets be safe!
She did make a tiktok exposing the guys name and business. I came across that tiktok a bit ago. She is getting a bit of hate for exposing him, but a majority of the comments support her. Basically people just upset a woman stood up for herself and made a man pay for his actions But good on her honestly I hope she finds someone to fix her tattoo
The thing about commenting on body SO MUCH, I want to share a positive story tho! I'm fat/plussize/whatever anyone wants to use as a term, and I'm very self conscious about it. There's an artist I went to for two bigger projects now. The only comment he ever made on my body is saying that I have really nice skin to tattoo (super pale and apparently takes ink really well), and once a comment when he had the stencil on how he designed it to follow the shape of my body in certain parts, which he pointed out without touching me. I have stretch marks on some of the parts the tattoos I got from him went over, which I was SUPER self conscious about, and he never commented on them in any way, just tattooed over them and it healed great. I had to wear a low-cut shirt for my chest tattoo which we had to cut open a bit further (he of course asked permission first), then when I was about to get up for a break he reminded me to hold onto the shirt as it was wider now at the neck. Honestly, he's what I wish all tattoo artists were like. Just super respectful, kind, considerate, and generally just a cinnamon roll of a person.
You have a very similar experience to me with male artists! The only comment that was towards my body ever has also been that I have lovely skin to tattoo for the exact same reason as you. If only they were all like that. I’ve seen some close friends be treated badly by artists, even went to an appointment with a friend and a shop I’d never been to and told her half way through to leave because he was so bad (hygiene, skill and manners) and later got her sorted out by the female artist that I go to regularly. I find now that I only really go to women, obviously partly because I like a lot of their art, but also because it’s always (for me) been such a nicer environment and can be a lot less intimidating if you’re having to get partly undressed for a tattoo. Just wish no one ever had to go through that.
This is me too. I grew up constantly bullied about my body and assumed I'd never be a model or anything at my size. But I saw Tess Holliday and was inspired by her. Also Whitney from big fat fabulous life. So after I started getting tattoos and piercings, I felt more confident in myself. I wear crop tops and high waisted pants to show off my stomach tattoo now!
I know we live in a society that blames the victim more than the abuser in so many cases, so I understand how people end up feeling guilty but never ever is the victim to blame for 'ruinung' the career etc of their abuser. They ruined it for themselves and after doing these disgusting things, they deserve to lose everything. Never feel guilty for holding abusers accountable. I wish there was more support for victims like this and actual regulation in the tattoo industry..
After a shitty experience there's only one male tattoo artist I trust and that I go to and he did a piece on my right calf months ago and now on the left a few weeks ago. I apologized to him that my body is so unsymmetrical (he does very nice symmetric shapes) and he just said "So? Everyone is, that's the appeal of tattooing." And the only comment he made on my appearance was "hey, that's a nice dress!" because I was wearing a very bright floral dress that is an eyecatcher. Why can't they all be like him :(
Black Veil is drool worthy!! One of my close friends got a tattoo and essentially gave them free reign. And, since it is them, it is still perfect and beautiful and exactly what she wanted, even if she didn't know the exact subject!
I’m sorry… being a tattoo artist is a privilege, and I don’t care if you’re an artist, you have to be accountable for your words and actions in ANY job. If I said that shit at work I would be escorted out by security. If he didn’t want to be held accountable for his words… it was as easy to avoid as not saying them.
I feel for her so badly. I have gained a lot of weight due to medications I have to take. I am so self conscious and have had a female artist that was working on my thigh talk to her co worker about how gross I was while I stepped out to smoke (the window was open and they weren’t talking quietly) I was so embarrassed and hurt I just let her finish for that day , didn’t say anything when I came back in and never went back to get it finished . It really messed me up for almost a year , didn’t try to get another tattoo anywhere for that time.
People like this deserve to be exposed, so they can’t make any more clients feel shit about themselves. Absolutely unprofessional, disgusting behaviour.
The thing about the ephemeral tattoos for me is that the period where they look great seems much shorter than the period of time where they look crap from fading, and people aren’t going to know it’s that they will just think you have a busted tattoo.
I had an absolute creep of a tattoo artist incorrectly perform a small tattoo on my ribs. I couldn’t even get my shirt on before he asked me out, named all three locations of where I work and let me know “for a natural girl, you’ve got really perky tits”. This was all before I was able to even complete the transaction. What a violation. The trusted artist that I have now had to continue in the format that he started the tattoo so even though there’s a part of me that feels good to have it, it is permanently marked with that situation. It isn’t what I wanted, not what I pictured for the past five years before getting the tattoo and I have to live with something I am just okay with because of that scum bag.
That tattoo artist shaming that person like that was so shocking! I've only ever had female tattoo artists but my piercer is male. He pierced my nipples and I apologized for my boobs being not symmetrical and he said "My job is to decorate your body the way you want me to. You don't have to apologize for having a body. Plus I've seen all kinds of boobs so you're all good". These people are professionals and they need to act like it. Tattoos artists especially. They spend a lot of time with you in sessions and you build a bond with them. Being comfortable with them is so important. Please speak up if you've had an experience like this because it's disgusting and you shouldn't be treated like this
I'm so glad you're not forcing yourself to be cheerful. Half the fun on the videos is that watching you is very much like listening to the cool coworker from different department in the office. It’s not always happy, but you're always genuinely you, and that's what counts. (Plus, I like to look at how you rearrange the pillows and the plant wall.)
💖💖💖 Ah so glad someone noticed the pillows move around 😂 it’s mainly cause my boyfriends sister stays the night sometimes so the bed at the back gets pulled out to a double and all the pillows get moved so I never know where to put them back 😂
When I got my belly button pierced, the place had an open floor plan where they did tattoos and piercings. So everyone working, waiting, or being worked on was basically in the same room. The man who did my piercing sat down and immediately started talking about how he'd never seen anyone with such an off center belly button. He even called his coworker over from the front to take a look. He said, "Man, you've gotta see this!" I was 16, and I will never recommend that shop to anyone. It obviously wasn't nearly as terrible as what happened to the person mentioned in this video, and my heart goes out to them. It just reminded me of this time and how unprofessional and rude it was.
smth ab the "temporary" tattoos is that they're just going to look bad if they aren't super fresh or completely faded. those middle stages of it fading will be like growing out a bad haircut :(
the ftnudy tattoos looks like how I would tattoo if i started on skin right now. I’ve only been tattooing for 2 months …fake skin and oranges y’all. Practice makes perfect and you need to be PERFECT to put permanent art on someone’s body AND charge them for it. love you videos. Also I am self teaching with the help of both professional tattoo artists on youtube and professionals in real life and practicing ALL safety and health even just while practicing and I don’t plan on tattooing anyone but me and will be as safe as possible and still plan on practicing for several more months.
To the girl that left in the middle of her tattoo session, you are so so beautiful inside and out, and I truly hope you are ok! And I hope you are able you are able to get your bat tat fully fixed, it looks absolutely amazing so far! ❤
I love how genuine you are. 💘It’d be unrealistic to expect positive content from you all the time. You’re a real person with feelings, and you are so passionate about the tattoo industry. You’re allowed to be angry about these wrongdoings. I think it’s important to show different sides of the community. Just like any group of people, you’re gonna have good eggs and bad eggs.
5:50 so the story, from what I could remember, is that Miranda (the tiktoker) somehow came across that particular shop (can't remember how) and essentially not only saw that the work was horrible but the tattoo artists were drinking alcohol on the job and she called them out for it and the shop and Miranda had then on been beefing
her friend and her got tattooed there. hers wasn't bad iirc, but her friend who was getting a self harm cover up got a rly shit tattoo by the nudy person.
Inkbox ones made me want to get tattooed!!! Excited about this Sunday - next tattoo session 😁 Haven’t been feeling ok last couple of days. Was at a memorial last weekend. Bad day today Love your videos 🥰 The girl who left mid session - big big red flag (artist) 🚩 😱
Saddest part is the nasty horrible men in the tattoo industry is common. There’s been two separate sh/sa’s in two separate shops *in the town I live in* and the guys are still working in those shops. 17:57 edited for *context*
If I had an artist do something like that I'd be so creeped out. My wife and I have the same artist, and he's very kind and good at his job. He told us when she got her first tattoo *"If you go to a studio and the artist refuses to explain things, walk you through it, ignores you, or makes you uncomfortable - please leave. You have the right to that at any point."*
that garage tattoo situation sounds horrifying. girls and women - PLEASE do not enter a ”tattoo studio” like that. that is NOT a studio and that man could do anything to you. please put your safety first.
I love the idea of temporary ink, but not for full scale tattoos. I think they’d be great changing the color of outlined tattoos. It’d be super cute to be able to change a flowers colors, or like a trees color a couple times a year. Also imagine watercolor tattoos, they fade a lot so some small temporary watercolor tattoos would be cool.
The girl who was like "am I crazy?" No. That is absolutely unprofessional af. That's an awful experience to go through. Its terrible what can be done and said that makes a client feel uncomfortable and unsafe. And that artist approached her! At least she can get it fixed and finished by someone who will treat her like a person and a client and I hope it turns out exactly how she wants it and has a good experience.
I'm glad you shared the vid about the tattoo artist that was body shaming!! That's so horrible & unprofessional!! Ppl have Insecurities already. Ppl are already mostly either private about their tattoos that they choose to cover parts of their body they don't like, etc. It's already a vulnerable time for some ppl.
I have no tattoos, nor do I plan on getting any, but I’ve seen ALL of your videos. I love your content and you’re just the most beautiful ray of sunshine. Keep smashing it Lauren, you’re amazing!
25:00 wow your buttons were clearly pressed, Lauren, but your anger was justified! it was appropriate to name the artist to protect other people from a repeat experience that actually may have been an escalation on a different day; maybe because of growth in confidence, a bad or angry day or a more vulnerable person being in the line of fire. This woman was brave to stand up when the man was local to her and also brave in how she dealt with her own backlash from the exposé. What a strong woman, while clearly also having an open and trusting nature (as you said Lauren) Be safe out there everyone, may you have only professionally appropriate interactions in your quest for exquisite body art 💜😘
Beth Cavener's sculpture work depicting animals with human archetypes/psychology is what made me interested in art therapy for trauma. Black Veil has similar vibes with their rabbits. Love it.
I feel like I need a deep dive on that tattoo artist with the iffy work. I feel like there's alot of tea on this that needs to be spilled and I am so intrigued. Also I'm at the peeling stage of my new tattoo 😖😖😖😭😭😭 the Itch is so bad! Pray for me lol 😆
@@katherinecampbell6022 Really? Thats not very cool then, unless of course they/ the shop isn't disclosing they're an apprentice and claiming they're fully certified, but other than that...yeah the tattoos aren't going to be amazing they're still learning 🙄 you typically know the risk when you go to an apprentice.
that mushroom was a really good home attempt. i did stick and poke myself for my first "tattoo" just to see if i'd like it and even be able to sit through the proccess. it lasted about 3 months and was a cute little destroyed planet outline. i definitley plan to get it redone professionally once i can find the stencil i drew
In my tattoo journey, I have a group of 4 friends that I genuinely trusted with my skin and body, with a colleague from my uni who does handpokes and has quite a great technique, I never complained. All of these friends know about respecting body autonomy, body changes, trauma and finding a light through all of this and regarding mental wellbeing as well. I trust them still because I know that they're also similar in tattoo and self esteem journeys, so I feel like we're watching each other grow, and it's the greatest thing I get out of it beside the sick ink 🌺
I’ve had two iron based ephemeral “temporary tattoos” both of freckles on my face. The first one was done at arrowhead tattoos in Iowa, beautiful placement, varied colors and size and faded in about 8 months, I wish they would have stayed longer but I have oily skin, I’m in the sun a lot, and I had low iron levels which speed up absorption all of which they took the time to warm me about. The second one I got done at a lash salon and I honestly feel they lied about what they used, that was over a year and a half ago and some still haven’t faded including two large, raised, mole looking ones on my nose, I use freckle pens to even my look out most days, they were awkwardly placed, big and weird colored, healed poorly and some peeled right off my face during healing, the first one lost some in the healing process but none came off my face like a scab! This is a very new process so be careful and do lots of research. Demand before and after pictures!
Tattoo artists like that last one make me so nervous about getting more done. Luckily I know a really good place to go nearby, that my mom and I like to go to. I also am looking into getting an apprenticeship somewhere soon and get into tattooing! I'm very excited about it
I had a friend who could draw. Seriously draw. We started getting tattooed at the same time from the same shop. He wanted an apprenticeship more than breathing. I told him IF he got the apprenticeship and WHEN his mentor(s) said he was ready I give him a patch of skin. I don't know what got said but I was threatened and told to show up at the shop. I get there and the owner has a couple of his bully boys on hand and I was forced to let him tattoo me. I've had an unfinished outline for 25+ years. I barely spoke with him after that. He'll never finish his 1st piece.
You said”this video probably hasn’t been comforting” I beg to differ, this video shows that if I am made uncomfortable by an “artist” there are people that will have my back.
My husband is a tattoo artist and probably the most amazing person who will never ever point out anyone’s flaws. He will make you feel so good about yourself and have you crawling with laughter when he is tattooing you. Again, some people are just simply cruel and it’s their issues. I feel for the lady who went to support a tattoo artist and got a prick!
Love you Lauren. Love how you completely backed this poor woman who was harassed and body-shamed by that a##hole. I have had a similar experience, unfortunately (a loooong time ago). I'm about the size of this young woman. No one deserves to be body shamed and harassed!! It was really humiliating for me, so I know *exactly* how this woman feels. I'm glad she stood up for herself as well! My experience happened well before social media - but I don't think I would have had the guts to call him out. ❤️
That poor lassie. As a plus size person I was very nervous to get my thigh done recently because I was embarrassed or whatever. But you compare her experience to my experience with a female artist who asked my permission to video or photograph the tattoo and showed me them beforehand to make sure I was happy with them, i thought that was just the extra mile to making sure I was comfortable with my body being on social media.
Before you showed the 3rd part where she canceled her gym membership, I said to myself that he sounds like the kind of creep that would try to proposition girls for sex. He just sounds like a straight up creep!
I feel like there are many occupations where men can make comments about women, as if it's nothing. One time I was referred to an ENT doctor to discuss getting my tonsils removed (as I had gotten strep throat 3 times in the span of a year). The doctor was an older man. Like immediately after I entered he was like "We aren't going to remove your tonsils, because you haven't gotten strep enough. But have you thought about a nose job? We could get rid of that bump for you." Um.... I mean, if I had been thinking about it, I wouldn't be getting it from YOU now.
Lol the girl with the fish bone looking thing in her nose saying what the hell is this??!! I’m pretty sure everyone has that same reaction when they first meet her lol
The arguement that you ruined a man’s career after he just left you with permanent work on your body??? Like he can create a new career for himself she has to live with that artwork and memory for the rest of her freaking life!
The Girl that got body shammed, people worked out who his was and found his instagram. Every photo he posted for years was blasted by EVERYONE about him body shaming people and now his account is private.
i could be having the worst day of my life and hearing 'helloo my darlings' would make everything better again, i just love the word darling & lauren, you're everything that's right with the world, i love you so much
also dark red/ burgundy hair really suits you, ik it's only the tiniest difference but it's definetly noticeable and i feel like if you were able to get it a few shades lighter you would look so amazing
I have 8 tattoos over 21 years, the quickest turn around from idea to completion has been 8 months….idea, location, rework idea a billion times, research an artist, rework idea a billion more times, set appt, get tattoo. I feel this is the best way to prevent any sort of regret for style, location, quality, etc by this process.
i just got my first ever tattoo on the 14th of this month. we went to so many different shops before finally settling on one. it was me, my best friend of like 10 years, and one of her close friends. one of the shops we went to didnt even listen to her, kept putting her off so other people can pay, etc etc. the next shop we walked into wanted to charge me 500$ for my piece, and he wanted to change it and was complaining about my design and what i wanted to do. the last place we went to, we all talked with the reception about what happened and whatnot and she was shocked. she told us about the ones shes gotten by her husband at the exact shop we were at currently and that it wouldnt be that expensive. i was tattooed by the owner of the shop, and only paid 220$. it was a back piece, i got the moon phases down my spine from new moon to new moon. the artist was so so nice, and i honestly really love the piece. only thing he commented on was 'did you want to use this to cover up?' and we were all joking and laughing (well they were, i couldnt laugh too much lol) while i was getting it done and he was just so cool.
It's so great watching these reactions. My last tattoo encounter was a fail, I saw a girl with gorgeous tattoos at work and was about to ask where she got them because I had been looking for that exact style. Before I could speak she mentions that the insane guy in the corner of the store had his pants falling off. I will find the right artist eventually 😞
I hope you don't take this in a negative way, because it's not meant in a negative way, but did you realize that you're dyslexic? Background is that my brother, husband, and oldest daughter are all dyslexic, so I can spot dyslexics super fast. My clues: difficulty with pronunciation (ephemeral), difficulty remembering left vs. right, difficulty pronouncing words you haven't seen before (names, etc.) Dyslexia can be a good thing. It often means that you have an excellent spatial awareness. Like if you rotate or mirror a chair, then it's still a chair, but somehow the letters b and d are two different letters. It doesn't make sense to the dyslexic brain. I mainly mention it because it makes me really sad to hear you talk about yourself as unintelligent. You are very intelligent. Listen to the fantastic way you talk about the rights of the woman who was fat shamed. You are so smart and have a fantastic moral compass. There is more to life than perfect grammar and spelling. I hope I didn't offend you by saying this. Stay strong and please continue sharing your excellent content.
Not offended at all! I’ve always suspected I could be dyslexic but never been tested and it’s never really affected my life considerably compared to dyslexics I know! But spelling, writing a huge amount and the other things you’ve mentioned have always been apart of my life! Also maths 😂 oh boy anything that isn’t divided by 2 or adding small numbers is a chore!
I was sexual assaulted by tattaooist who also kept commenting on my breasts. I later found out that I was not the only person that he did it to. He sat sat between me and the door. 💜
I missed your reactions video so muchhhhh !!! I just got my second tattoo 2 weeks ago , your videos help so much since i’m just a new « born » in this 🤣❤️❤️❤️
My tattoo artist was so lovely. She was always complimenting my tattoo (I helped designed it) and complimented my skin tone, which surprised me because I’m white. Apparently I have the perfect tone for a particular red.
@@treacletatts I can’t wait for them to get a little bigger and do a US tour. I would be gagged if I missed them. I traveled from one state to another to see Opeth, and I’d ABSOLUTELY do the same to see ST!
Because I'm in a wheelchair friendly cancer and it's hard to find a shop that will accommodate me. I'd been getting tattooed long before cancer and I'd had dreams of being pretty tattooed. Many shops are not handicap friendly.
It's true, far too much of our man-made world is set up with only able-bodied people in mind. Perhaps you can set something up with a shop to have them put a temporary ramp over the step(s) to the door? I know of shops in NYC doing that for clients. I hope you get some beautiful tats soon, you deserve them!
At this point I have 9 tattoos (although I've been tattooed more than that because of redoing/having cover-ups on some of them) and I've yet to find a tattoo artist (*maybe except two of them) that I'm comfortable with going back to :( I've basically always switched artist, and it gets really tiring and frustrating after so many years, and so incredibly disappointing to start hating the process of getting tattoos when you want to be covered in them.
Aww, so adorable! I would love to send you a pic or short clip of my Guinea pigs to use as a pallet cleanser, I promise they're so adorable and they always make me feel so much better when I'm having an off day and I know they'll make someone's day as well.
People say that there’s a certain toxicity that just happens in the tattoo community…I have experienced none of it? The closest I’ve come is my giving an artist free reign I told him go nuts on a cover up I wanted it gone and he said “well you’re not inked yet I don’t think you realize so let’s do a rework” because it’s on my thumb. Switched shops after that and I love my artist now. You reacted to some of his shopmates work before. I have a spooky black and red quarter sleeve We are working on.
there is SO MUCH misogyny and sexual harrassment and racism etc etc in the tattoo community. i havent experienced it either but that doesnt mean it doesnt exist, it just means we’ve gotten lucky.
it reminds me of something that happened some years ago at a tattoo shop near well i live. The dude basically put his balls into the client's hand, a woman, who he was tattooing. Long story short the shop closed.
I have one tattoo, it was done by my moms tattoo artist cause me n her were getting matching mushrooms. I love it. He did SO GOOD And they were so professional, I even passed out (anxiety reasons) and he stopped and waited and only continued once I knew I was okay, they even offered me candy to help pick up my sugar levels and stuff and I plan on going back there for more.. I’m so thankful I’m not one of those bad first experience stories 😰
Omh you actually did the til tok I tagged you in I felt so bad for this girl she's beautiful no matter what no one should talk to her like that especially a professional who's doing a job
Men seem to have zero idea of how vulnerable women feel when they have to remove their shirt. It's ten times worse when you're in a room with a man you don't know, even if he _is_ being professional, which this guy clearly was _not._
i started my back piece about 5 years ago and during my 3rd session the tattoo artist went around the unfinished pieces in grey wash so he could then come back to it and finish those bits off. iv been too much of a wimp to go back and get it finished and let me tell you some of those lines are STILL there and look like someone has been at my back with pencil... should really get it finished!
I love your videos! I noticed your Sleep Token merch in this video! I wish I could see them again soon! Anyways, keep up the amazing work on the videos, I love hearing your opinions and seeing all these videos always helps keeps me educated and finding near artists to love and who to avoid! ❤️
My brothers used to get those fading tattoos when they just started becoming a thing. The ink is extremely volitile and breaks down very fast. You can make them last a few months but I think the longest either had one was like 5 months. They got them because they were underage and couldn't commit to an actual design.
The tattoo shops in my state here in America (Arizona to be exact) are not regulated by the county or state and there really is no standards but thankfully I know several artists who treat it like it is and go above and beyond when it comes to cleanliness and sanitation and it's a plus that they are good but there are plenty of scratchers out here doing work from their home and don't do any sort of sanitation and do work akin to a 5 year old.
Despite the nature of the tattoo content at the end it was a good video and covered some important points. The dogs were welcome too, of course. 😉 Hope you're doing well! 😊
I love how Laurens standards for home-tattooing seem to get lower with every episode lol. So even if the tattoo turns out horrendous it's like "well... I've seen worse" or "at least thei're wearing gloves". Sad world we live in
Ahahah honestly 😂
Literally came to comment this hahaha
My classmate recently got a tattoo machine off Amazon and has been tattooing himself. They're actually really good and he needs to get an apprenticeship.
@@Rainbow0015 do you by any chance know what one he has off Amazon?
@@laurenstangier3233 no idea unfortunately.
It's happening all too often and while I know it's not *all* men, I have to say, since I started only going to female tattoo artists I haven't had a single bad experience 🤷♀
oh, btw, the artist I went to was Paula Castle at Black Sheep in Bristol, who I discovered thanks to you, Lauren 💗
It has put me off going to male artists in future even though there’s 1 or 2 I would’ve loved to get some pieces by 😢
You didn't reclaim your body if the threat of a comment sends you toppling down. Be truly grounded in confidence & love for yourself
That horrible tattoo artist deserves to be called out. That kind of comment has no place in any setting, let alone when you have someone in such a vulnerable situation. I’m glad they spoke up and made it public so others feel comfortable speaking up about that creep.
don't worry, he was called out and his comments were blasted with hate
@@lexman3747 good. that's the very least of what he deserves.
@@lexman3747 he went private from what I saw, probably too much hate lol, he can dish it but can't take it
For the video about the girl who left mid tattoo because of her asshat artist, I know when I first saw it she had comments on and she had so many positive comments of people telling her she isn't crazy and there was even alot of tat artists responding like "that's not right - you shouldn't of even paid him!" I think she did some update videos after
I'd have walked out without paying him the minute he started referring to my breasts as tits (especially given that he was hired for a BELLY tat.
Jake Karamol stitched her. She ended up telling the artist's name. She found another tattoo artist.
I’m so glad my artists are all females after watching this!
Can someone explain me what happen? I'm not that good in english so i don't understand...
I'm glad you're not forcing yourself to act positive when you are not really feeling it. It's more genuine and, in my opinion, also healthier.
I’m so so sorry you had to deal with that. I’ll never understand the reason to be so mean towards people body. Big hugs to you my love 💖
I literally told him that he needs to gain weight
Even my sister told him to stop
to all women out there, stay safe! please NEVER get tattooed alone in a place that's not a professional studio.
Basically people just upset a woman stood up for herself and made a man pay for his actions
But good on her honestly I hope she finds someone to fix her tattoo
Love this (and the "cinnamon roll comparison lol) can you provide his name & studio/ig etc??? Really good to get the "good ones" names out there!
At this point, I feel such a parasocial connection that whenever you upload, I think “Ooh! It’s my girl Lauren, guess I’m watching a video now!”
😜💖 thank you for being here!!
Totally same
Ditto!
Same 😅
Parasocial... I'm so jealous lol what a great vocabulary.
Wait what?!? Oh my goodness I’m so so sorry you had to go through that! This is truly awful behaviour. Sending you all my love 💖
He makes me wish Audrey II was real
Jebus that is disgusting. The karma bus will come around for them, you may not see it cause it doesn't have a schedule but it never misses a stop.
Oh my goodness, honestly if people are gonna be fat phobic tattooing isn’t the career for them. So sorry you went through that.
I'm so sorry you had that experience. So awful.
💖💖💖
Ah so glad someone noticed the pillows move around 😂 it’s mainly cause my boyfriends sister stays the night sometimes so the bed at the back gets pulled out to a double and all the pillows get moved so I never know where to put them back 😂
@@treacletatts that's super sweet! I'm even more glad those pillows are real pillows, like the comfy kind you can use.
She absolutely did the right thing by talking about it online! We have to stand up for ourselves 💋
Excited about this Sunday - next tattoo session 😁
Haven’t been feeling ok last couple of days. Was at a memorial last weekend. Bad day today
Love your videos 🥰
The girl who left mid session - big big red flag (artist) 🚩 😱
I got one of my first tattoos in a converted garage studio but it was from someone who knew a friend of mine like they had references
What a strong woman, while clearly also having an open and trusting nature (as you said Lauren)
Be safe out there everyone, may you have only professionally appropriate interactions in your quest for exquisite body art 💜😘
I went and TikTok stalked lol. The girl who’s tattoos she was blasting is an apprentice 😭
I will always prefer female tattoo artists. They tend to align with styles I like anyway.
that mushroom was a really good home attempt. i did stick and poke myself for my first "tattoo" just to see if i'd like it and even be able to sit through the proccess. it lasted about 3 months and was a cute little destroyed planet outline. i definitley plan to get it redone professionally once i can find the stencil i drew
So happy you uploaded! Was having a bad day and now these are my absolute fave videos! 💗 thanks for always being amazing! ❤️
Ah so sorry you’re having a bad day ☹️ I hope tomorrow is better for you 💖
I’ve had two iron based ephemeral “temporary tattoos” both of freckles on my face.
Yeah, that story was super heavy. Glad she was safe after revealing him.
Tattoo artists like that last one make me so nervous about getting more done. Luckily I know a really good place to go nearby, that my mom and I like to go to.
I also am looking into getting an apprenticeship somewhere soon and get into tattooing! I'm very excited about it
I am too! I hope we both can fulfill our dreams and then there'll be better artists in the world
always appreciate your realness! (and thank you for the puppies haha)
? So your friend started tattooing at this shop and forced you to be his first?
Omg you ending the video with puppies is the funniest thing 😂 you're so sweet and hilarious. It did help lighten the mood though!
We could get rid of that bump for you."
Um....
Seriously! He ruined his own career
Hey Lauren!! 💖 missed your reaction videos!! Also your makeup is absolutely incredible! 😭💖
Thanks my love 🥹💖
The Girl that got body shammed, people worked out who his was and found his instagram. Every photo he posted for years was blasted by EVERYONE about him body shaming people and now his account is private.
i could be having the worst day of my life and hearing 'helloo my darlings' would make everything better again, i just love the word darling
& lauren, you're everything that's right with the world, i love you so much
also dark red/ burgundy hair really suits you, ik it's only the tiniest difference but it's definetly noticeable and i feel like if you were able to get it a few shades lighter you would look so amazing
The fact that you put puppy pictures at the end is absolutely precious 💜
i just got my first ever tattoo on the 14th of this month. we went to so many different shops before finally settling on one. it was me, my best friend of like 10 years, and one of her close friends.
one of the shops we went to didnt even listen to her, kept putting her off so other people can pay, etc etc.
the next shop we walked into wanted to charge me 500$ for my piece, and he wanted to change it and was complaining about my design and what i wanted to do.
the last place we went to, we all talked with the reception about what happened and whatnot and she was shocked. she told us about the ones shes gotten by her husband at the exact shop we were at currently and that it wouldnt be that expensive. i was tattooed by the owner of the shop, and only paid 220$.
it was a back piece, i got the moon phases down my spine from new moon to new moon. the artist was so so nice, and i honestly really love the piece. only thing he commented on was 'did you want to use this to cover up?' and we were all joking and laughing (well they were, i couldnt laugh too much lol) while i was getting it done and he was just so cool.
Your channel is so comforting for me. I love your persona. ❤
I thought you were going to say "sir have you seen your testis THEY are unsymmetrical "
Happy Tuesday..
Ahahaha 😂😂😂 I mean I guess that still applies
9:00 I love to see this back! I did my first tattoo by Rosanne last year, still so happy with it! I truly still believe she is the best
I was sexual assaulted by tattaooist who also kept commenting on my breasts. I later found out that I was not the only person that he did it to. He sat sat between me and the door. 💜
I missed your reactions video so muchhhhh !!! I just got my second tattoo 2 weeks ago , your videos help so much since i’m just a new « born » in this 🤣❤️❤️❤️
Ah congrats on your new tattoo!! 😍
@@treacletatts thanks a lot !! I made a tiktok about it if u are interested love ❤️
Thank you for the puppies at the end, I just lost my old girl today. Might get a new tattoo in her honor.
LOVE the sleep token sweatshirt! also been watching your channel for awhile and really enjoy the content!
omg. hey lauren!!!! wow im so early!!! And i love you! And i needed it "hello my darlings..." 🥰
Hello hello 😄💖
Lauren I didn’t think I could like you more. And you put a freaking PUPPY MONTAGE at the end. Omg I’m in love with you in a friendship kinda way 🌷
My tattoo artist was so lovely. She was always complimenting my tattoo (I helped designed it) and complimented my skin tone, which surprised me because I’m white. Apparently I have the perfect tone for a particular red.
Omg! I love Sleep Token!! I am OBSESSED with them! I’m so elated to know you’re a fan, too!!!!
I am a huge fan!! Excited that there’s a sleep token fan here 🥳💖
@@treacletatts I can’t wait for them to get a little bigger and do a US tour. I would be gagged if I missed them. I traveled from one state to another to see Opeth, and I’d ABSOLUTELY do the same to see ST!
I recently saw them in Nottingham, they are incredible live 🤩
Because I'm in a wheelchair friendly cancer and it's hard to find a shop that will accommodate me. I'd been getting tattooed long before cancer and I'd had
dreams of being pretty tattooed.
It's my birthday and I'm spending it watching your videos all day!
I know that shouldn't be like that but that's one of the reasons I'm always afraid to go somewhere new for a tat.😓
I'm so excited 😊
Also you are looking so cute, love your lippy color
Thanks so much 🥺💖
Dog photo montage at the end of videos should become a regular thing. Mega good mood boost
Aww, so adorable! I would love to send you a pic or short clip of my Guinea pigs to use as a pallet cleanser, I promise they're so adorable and they always make me feel so much better when I'm having an off day and I know they'll make someone's day as well.
That puppy montage at the end really helped. 😍 Thank you for that
The work from black veil was beautiful
Love the Sleep Token hoodie 😍
Thanks lovely!! Worship 🤪💖
it reminds me of something that happened some years ago at a tattoo shop near well i live. The dude basically put his balls into the client's hand, a woman, who he was tattooing. Long story short the shop closed.
im happy you talk about this staff
Never want this series to end!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I love the treacle rage 😂
The sleep token merch though💙💙
I love your videos! I noticed your Sleep Token merch in this video! I wish I could see them again soon! Anyways, keep up the amazing work on the videos, I love hearing your opinions and seeing all these videos always helps keeps me educated and finding near artists to love and who to avoid! ❤️
My brothers used to get those fading tattoos when they just started becoming a thing. The ink is extremely volitile and breaks down very fast. You can make them last a few months but I think the longest either had one was like 5 months. They got them because they were underage and couldn't commit to an actual design.
Your makeup is always flawless and I love Emily too
The tattoo shops in my state here in America (Arizona to be exact) are not regulated by the county or state and there really is no standards but thankfully I know several artists who treat it like it is and go above and beyond when it comes to cleanliness and sanitation and it's a plus that they are good but there are plenty of scratchers out here doing work from their home and don't do any sort of sanitation and do work akin to a 5 year old.
Despite the nature of the tattoo content at the end it was a good video and covered some important points. The dogs were welcome too, of course. 😉
Hope you're doing well! 😊
