I bought my Shinola Runwell at an outlet, on clearance, and partially with a gift card. I spent about $200 out of pocket on a watch that retails for $800. I love it, and living in Michigan the brand has clout. I would not have paid $800 for it. I would not pay $800 for any watch. I love it's timeless design and how it kind of looks like a nice 50s diner wall clock.

Nice to hear an honest, balanced take on a brand that snobs...er, I mean "enthusiasts" crap on unfairly. Admittedly, many of their watches are too large for my tastes and I think there are far too many variants to make sense of, but they've been steadily upping their game and having some fun with their designs and packaging. The new Mechanic line is especially interesting.

I own a few Shinola’s over time and living in Michigan they are easy to pick up. I live near an outlet mall that drop 50%+ and at that cost, they are worth it. I also have some of their straps and they are outstanding! I actually bought a watch just for the strap. They don’t get a lot of wear with my other mechanicals calling me, but for a grab and go watch…it is a good choice for me.

I have been buying Shinola watches for 10 years now since I bought my first one at Nordstrom's. I own several, my wife and kids own several more. The quality is high, the price point offers great value, the watches are made with Swiss movements, and they are assembled by hand in Detroit Michigan. If you see a Shinola that captures your eye buy it. I have absolutely no regrets at all.

I personally Own a Shinola Runwell and I feel like this brand is growing and moving in the right direction. They are a new brand compared to some other watch brands out there that have been making pieces since the 1800's. They will not compare to your swiss made or some Japanese brand watches, but I feel they should not be lumped into the likes of some "Fashion" brands we see on social media. The overall build quality is very good in my opinion and feels just as quality as many other traditional watch brands. I feel if your considering the Shinola, take a hard look and give them a try, I dont think you will be disappointed. .

I came across a Shinola Monster GMT at a boutique. I really liked it . Perfect size for me . I didn’t pull the trigger on it but I like the direction they are going in. They are popular brand where I live. Every place around me that sells luxury watches also sell Shinolas. I can see myself buying one in the future.

Shinola seems like a good starter watch for its looks and unique decor of the front and back case, however, it seems that Brand designers went cheap on parts - they seem fragile and toy-like at best, it looks like almost a disposable fork or a spoon, .. still I like the concept

Go Detroit! Love that city home of the automobile mass production in years past. Shinola have built some interesting watches in recent years. I love quartz more and more for the grab and go. Clever use of coloured resin in this case. Nice review and I for one am a fan of this watch.

I like everything about Shinola… except for the price. Everything has a price premium and you can’t explain it away as “assembled in Detroit.”
Even though you can play games with “Swiss made,” I feel like Zodiac, Shinola’s sister brand in the Fossil Group, doesn’t charge the same premiums.

For the same price as a lot of Shinolas quartz ~$650, I just picked up an American-assembled auto diver from Vaer which has a unique design and looks amazing. Even with the quartz movement, the lack of sapphire here is disappointing. I recommend supporting other American microbrands instead of this company!!

Just went through the battery replacement experience. Took about 3 weeks to get my watch back, and they just hand it to me dirtier than I gave it to them. They could have at least polished it - certainly a typical jewelry store in a shopping mall would have treated it better. Spare me the marketing - this is just another low class service brand. By the way, the $100 plus leather band fell apart in less than a year. Never again! Shitola.

Nice review Bruce, but have you ever heard someone talk about their Shinola watch? Ask them about their Shinola and they talk to you about how it's an American made Rolex, and they speak to you like you know nothing about watches. They are also usually craft beer drinking hipsters. At least that has been my only experience when I asked my girlfriend's cousin from Cali about their watch...LOL, I'm not making this up.

Shinola got me into watches. You cannot understate the gateway allure that can unexpectedly get someone into a hobby.
I bought a vinyl record as a collector’s item of my favorite band. I didn’t have a turntable or speakers. No intention to do so. But 10 years later, I have over 1k records and now an audiophile… against my wallet’s better judgement.
Shinola is having that same effect on me.
