Have been to Kalpa and other areas of Kinnaur district including the beautiful sangla valley four times. Have also attended a marriage of a colleague's son. Went as a young man of 36 for the first time in 1986. Then travelled through the area in 2008 when went to Chander Taal from Shimla via Kinnaur. In 2014 attended a marriage in sangla. In 2005 had gone to Sangla valley for sightseeing and visited various sites including Chitkul. The people are quite affable and the area is full of scenic beauty.

Bhuntar airport is the closest. Approx. 245 km away. However, it will still take you around 7-9 hours by bus or car from there to kalpa.
