  • In this episode of #LostinLadakh we are in Turtuk village and headed to Tyakshi as well! These villages are really close to the border however not the last villages. The last village is Thang, where civilians couldn't go at the time that I visited. Turtuk is a truly beautiful place and I would recommend that you stay here for 2 nights atleast. This green pocket of Ladakh surprised us with its efficient water supply system originating from the glaciers to nourish the lush vegetation of an insane number of fruits and veggies in the valley. This village also supplies food to defence units stationed nearby. In this series, we have covered Leh, Stok, Karzok, Maan, Nubra Valley, Turtuk, and Kargil while traveling through Ladakh. Through this series get ready to experience Ladakh packed with adventure, hidden gems & unforgettable experiences like never before. 😊 Hit subscribe for more such videos and comment below to tell me if you're looking forward to get lost in Ladakh as well!

    Please do like this video and add as many comments as possible, so that the video reaches more people! :) The purpose of showing life near the border, is to make our common citizens aware of how difficult life for our soldiers can be and how harmony is sometimes more common than what you may see via traditional media! ❤

    As a soldier, I was there in Ladakh from 2008 to 2010. Tangtse/chushul- Aug 2008 to Apr 2009, siachen -May 2009 to Feb 2010 and then again to Tangtse- Mar 2010 to Oct 2010. Even after more than a decade, still remember the events with date and places with names. Love from Kerala to all Ladakhis.

    Turtuk is also called Sub Sector Haneef in the memory of Captain Haneefuddin of Rajputana Rifles of the Indian Army who laid down his life in the Kargil War 1999 while defending Turtuk from Pakistani intruders. He was just 24 years old and was awarded Vir Chakra posthumously. 🇮🇳

      Furthermore, his body could not be retrieved for over 40 days due to incessant firing by the Pakistani army. When the then COAS Gen.V.P.Malik(Retd.) communicated the army's inability to retrieve Capt. Haneef's body to his mother, she bluntly replied that she doesn't want another mother to lose her son in the process of extracting Capt Haneef's body.
      Edit : Capt.Haneefuddin's mother also declined the government's offer to allot her a petrol pump.

    Was on posts overlooking these villages way back in 1985-86, part of my winter tenure in South Siachen. No roads, no nothing. Foot sloggging and ponies was the only way around. The khurmani around Nubra river and the wild roses higher up the slopes made it a paradise in summer. Better the fragile eco systmen left that a way than swarmed and destroyed by tourism.

    Dear Tanya, just a wise suggestion to you.... Being an army brat I know what is the importance of an border area, land and it's vicinity and i don't think you have to show the bunkers area, location etc it may or may not be safe... I like your content and nowdays many of the the traveller are doing same mistakes.. So I request you to not cover out any border area describing bunkers and all✌ peace out

      @TanyaKhanijow  2 ปีที่แล้ว +511

      @@LordSuuYak as an army kid myself, I sincerely thank you for the concern. But as somebody who was actually on ground shooting the video, let me assure you that the shots are from locations where the mountains are clearly observable and quite on the interior of our own land and are edited into the video in random order, where not all are from even the same location. It has been added to the video for representation purpose, to show how difficult border monitoring and the life of soldiers actually is, and not really to reveal the location. It is almost impossible for somebody to pinpoint the location because they are not actual coordinates on a map. Additionally, some images are actually of Pakistani bunkers as well, which are just in plain sight and can be observed from our side using binoculars. :) So I assure you, this video was not edited to create any trouble. 😊

    Dear Tanya ,
    I have watched your video from beginning to end without interruption and liked it very much . The scenery ( I feel like writing sceneries as the plural form of scenery but as per English Grammar I have written as such ) of POK villages is really mesmerizing and I appreciate you for your great effort to show us it
    I also feel enormously happy to see Michael after a long interval . Most probably I saw him in your most hyped Ladakh series . You looked like a native girl of Kashmir in their attires . Waiting eagerly for your next episode ,
    Thanking you very much for your nice and fàntastic video ,
    With lots of lots of love and regards to you and your companions ,
    Jayantàda ,

    That's what I'm looking for ;)
    And the small small things you've shown with background voice, actually makes the vlog amazing. I was hoping you would be showing us the natural icecream in turtuk as well 😅 Anyways this was my most favourite episode 😍❤️
