    My long SOH plant is needing a repot and I take you through my process of how I end up repotting and propagating the plant. I show two different propagation methods of soil propagation and using the butterfly method. My SOH plant started really small and has gone through 2 repots and propagations before.

    I’m loving this video. It’s great just putting the sections under the soil. I’d never thought of doing it this way.

      I feel like some of them should root this way! Adding the cuttings in the soil after they root can dry up fast so excited to see how many grow for me this way ☺️

      @@plantsbymelissa did the sections you plant end up rooting? i've tried propagating a string of hearts several times now, in several ways (except for your way haha) and i'm failing every time, so i'm intrigued to hear whether it worked for you. thanks for the vid btw!

    Your videos keep getting better and better in all ways both on the technical side and on the plantology side. Great job. I have to say it again, your plants are amazing and I never tire of seeing them. Thanks.

    I just got even more excited. I finally looked up the brand of soil mix you use because I love how chunky it is. We actually have a sol soils store here in Minnesota unfortunately it’s not in the best area. High crime area so maybe visit ?! Idk! Order it is 😂

    I didn't prop my SOH this way yet but I did take two of the longest strings and circle them into the top of my pot and pin them down, hoping that gets some roots going and a thicker top to her. Loved this video. Question, is that slow release a good kind for all indoor plants? Also... how would it do with the plants that I bottom water? (I'd make sure I get it below the surface)

    Always, appreciate your videos and you give one the courage and incentive to actually repot plants. Thank you for that. Would you ever add lava rocks or pumice (instead of perlite) to your soil mix? Also, how do you keep track of the 6 month mark with the fertilizer for your many plants. Do you put a little piece of tape with the date on the pot, or what? Again, thank you for the videos. They’re very professional and you always look lovely. :)

    • @plantsbymelissa
      @plantsbymelissa  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! ☺️ I find pumice not as readily available to me so I usually go with perlite. I love pumice though! I would definitely add some. I need a better system actually lol because I’m not too sure! I could probably look back to see when I repotted the plant but I’m going with summer and winter to be the timeframe to add fertilizer. I water so frequently that if I add a little extra sooner I think it will be okay. I do like the idea with adding a date on the pot though! That would help! 😂

    Are you worried about not having a drain hole? I got a similar pot and made my husband put a small hole in it because it makes me nervous.

    Is osmocote the only fertilizer you use? I'm wanting to get away from my liquid ferts.

      I'm using one from the tezula brand as well but haven't used it for very long. I like them both but can't say if one is better yet. I bought a soil testing kit and I'm going to see if some plants are lacking nutrients but I haven't used with it yet :)
