Hi, I really finf your insights very helpful every time I tune into either your videos or podcasts. For me a major part of me wants to believe in the existence of 'God' or any higher power if there's any is because it gives me a sense of comfort about comprehending death as a concept. If we are a non-believer of God as atheists, how do we explain death? Could you please elaborate on this more?
Really loved the last part, celebrating festivals with family is the most wholesome experience. I love Holi and Diwali as they are free from religious dogma.
Dear Amit and Ajay, The way you both present everything is truly marvelous. Your expression “God of the gaps” will stay with me. Amit’s take on morality - whether shaped by inner reasoning or religious beliefs- is exceptional. I agree with him that GDP is better determinant of it. However, I would like to add that it is not only absolute poverty but also relative poverty that impacts our sense of morality. Keep rocking! Regards Aftab
Strong contender for one of EiE's best episodes. It's incredible how well you guys have summarized religion and atheism in 40 minutes. As for me, I guess my first introduction to atheism was when I realized as a 6 year old kid that Santa might not be real.
1:03 I don't know any Christian, Buddhist, Jain, Hindu, Shino, or Jew majority country where "being Atheist" is a punishable offense. Which countries is Amit referring to?
18:20 I think that the genes that survived and propagated were the "altruistic" ones. It's not that we evolved to be altruistic, it's that that the altruistic ones survived to pass on their genes more effectively than other variants and so became the dominant "version" in the gene pool.
19:05 I think the golden rule “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" comes from the Bible, but it doesn't mean that we didn't know about it before the Bible or that that makes it any less good.
@Amit - If you haven’t already, check out Alain de Botton and his books (e.g., School of Life). It’s got a clear, but compassionate take on region and the role it plays in our lives (i.e., consolation).
Thanks for this. I am a little disappointed with this one. A full episode of religion and atheism was done without any reference to Indian thinkers. Caravaka or Buddhism or Janinism. Moreover there much more evolved ideas of faith in Upanishads and Brahma sutras and I am sure there would be similar stuff in other religion. You may still reject them but that no Indian reference was even made for a topic like this made me a little disappointed
7:46 also the question is which god ?? Coz every religion has different gods. Which god is right ?? Ram allah or jesus ?? Coz remember when we are talking god we are talking about gods what religious scriptures have indetail mentioned. We are not talking about some random spirits..
26:09 what does secularism has to do anything here? if the tribe has not developed the notion of religion, there's no separation i.e. no secular. also there's nothing to negate either so they're not even atheists.
Never clicked on a video this fast in my life. We used to pray for such days.
The irony in this sentence 🤣
@@kakashi8203 By god I clicked reply to type this 😂😂
I love Frank Lloyd Wright’s answer to the question ‘do you go to a church?’ was ‘I spell nature with a capital N and go there’.

Thanks.
Santa Singh is real, though, as Banta Singh could attest.
You guys are doing gods work ❤
The best quote about the god of the gaps I've heard is that it is an "ever receding pocket of human ignorance".
lovely, it answered a lot of questions I was grappling with for the past few months. thank you.
Thank You Ajay Shah ❤
@18:00 Evolution of the Gaps argument
19:34 Oh, does he??? (Joking, lol)
This is the type of content that our country needs
Such a beautiful episode! It makes so many important points with such clarity and elegance.
Thank you!
1:03 I don't know any Christian, Buddhist, Jain, Hindu, Shino, or Jew majority country where "being Atheist" is a punishable offense. Which countries is Amit referring to?
It used to be in most abrahamic cultures.
Amit is looking handsome.

Wow, a Kumbh Mela special!
Please do a video on UG krishnamurti

17:50 there's a great video by Primer named "green beard altruism" which goes through multiple kinds of game theory simulation.
Primer is a fantastic channel.
Hi Amit,
Would love see an Episode on Bitcoin and what's India's Public policy on Crypto coin market!
Here from Biswa
Amit is Naval Ravikant of India
I find that both the terms 'religion' and 'atheism' can be quite a Drag. Personally, I prefer the simplicity of the word 'indifferent.'

Is it just me or the last few episodes have been ending abruptly. Like someone just pulled the mike away?

You are forgetting that Theist was itself a negation of what even existed then probably worship of ancestors.
