    its good to see that there were no scooters there. Is it for skateboards only? Last week I saw a scooter rider kill nearly kill a roller blader. I dont know what the trick is called but its that ridiculous one where the rider spins and whips the scooter round over his head really fast and whips it back down. It fully hit the rollerblader in the head and he was out cold, blood everywhere, huge gash, dude had to go in ambulance . That's such a dangerous trick it's just like getting a metal weapon and spinning it around wildly with no regard for anyone else.

    There are cliques and factions in every interest group.. Skateboarders happen to be some of the most inescure and childish - IN MY AREA !! Some have been blessed with amazing local scenes like this little spot - but where I'm from ..and I've been doing this since 1986 , every 'wave' of the trend peaking you get a large group that are out for themselves without that original spirit that called me to the game - every so often there is some chill non insecure folks but it's rare - I noticed it got bad around 1992 with the whole dark drug - hip hop - fake gangster crap being mixed into the scene. Some of that never went away . The young kids do respond pretty well but once one learns a few tricks their ego blows out of control and suddenly there's no more hand slaps high fives - like I said a few exceptions ... and again only talking about my area which is a bit of an anomoly . I'm 50 and I was fliming some guy trying to slide this handrail out front of our Arena that was the first handrail we hit in 1988 .. and this was just last year .. him and his whole crew were giving me death stare vibes for just showing up (in public LOL) - and even after explaining to them that this was the first rail to be hit in the area..they didn't care but I worked on bringing down the defenses - (was bizarre) - the primary skater trying the attempt warmed up a bit in the end ..but it took a bit of time and even used the clip in their video as an alternate angle after he reached out to me with the email I gave him to send it to him.

    You are supporting the problem wearing adidas these running shoe companies turned skate culture competitive and they raised the price point of shoes .ps your park even looks like a contest park .remember high fives and hyped sessions? Leave the nine club...........

    • @OgSkateboardSteve
      @OgSkateboardSteve  27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      So you don't think the price point was raised due to the increase in manufactured goods, increased insurance rates, increased labor cost, increased tariff taxes, etc? Vans were not a running shoe company and their price has increased, cariuma is a fairly new skate shoe company (never a running shoe) and their price points are high. I'm a business owner for 18 years now and my price points increased because over the years the physical cost for me to do business has risen substantially and the cost to live has risen substantially. I do remember the high fives and hyped sessions, we still have them and that has to do with who you are hanging with, nothing to do with shoes or park style. Also, this park is no where near a contest style park, it's more in the lines of a practice and flow park. When I started skateboarding in 1988 we didn't have any parks, I have watched the culture grow, fall off, grow again and change so much it's crazy. It is all about how you perceive and react to change and change is inevitable in any industry. I don't like to fall to excuses and complain about the structure of anything I can change, I learn to adapt.

      @@OgSkateboardSteve Nike adidas and new balance deleted so many beloved brands with their financial power how can you wear them?? And ya I guess prices go up naturally over time .I see a lot of people using inflation as an opportunity to price gouge .even today I'd say a pair of dunks is really worth Abt 75 bucks .the running shoe companies pushed the term slim selling us less and less shoe until it was just mesh .I'm tellin you if you are an og you want nothing to do with Nike adidas or new balance .cariuma will be bought out sooner than you can blink these corps have stacks of old bread

      I completely understand where you are coming from but I also understand infrastructure and how it works. More than 85 percent of everything that we purchase,, Clothing, Shoes., Food., Electronics, like the phone or computer you are chatting on now was more than likely made overseas and had some sort of child labor established with it. Our government has made it almost impossible to live without using these items, but we all turn a blind eye because we can't control it or change it and don't see it first hand. I guess to get even deeper. A skateboard is made from a tree that was cut down and used for our enjoyment and emissions were created during that process that leads to global warming that impacts the environment. everything we use has had some sort of impact but you can't stop living. Yes adidas, Nike, New Balance and even asics are impacting the market in some bad ways but tjey also impact it in good ways as well. I am an origami OG and as an OG I understand change and know that I have to adapt to change the best way I can.
