    Another thing to factor in about the cost of Indians is that these bikes are assembled in Spirit Lake, Iowa by people getting paid an American wage instead of someone from Thailand or China that gets paid little to nothing to build the bikes. I would say this is is a $15k out the door bike and this is coming from someone who owns one and rides the shit out of it. Lol.

      Chinese and Thai workers get paid good wages for where they live. I find it important and valuable to all parties involved to outsource when the price difference is significant, but the standards are kept the same.
      We just need to tariff other countries sending their cheap shit here so that it becomes competitive to make more things in America

      Most Harley-Davidson motorcycles sold in the United States are assembled in Wisconsin or Pennsylvania, the only ones that aren't are those with the RA motor. One of Which isn't even sold in the US.

    I work at an Indian dealership… and I said all of these exact same things to the rep that brought us one to demo… especially the power button, why did they not use they one that they put on literally every other model? Well simple answer, the lower trim levels still have a key ignition and they want the wiring harness to land in that spot 🤷🏻‍♂️ basically to answer all of your gripes… that bike would msrp in the realm of high 20’s to even 30’s… they didn’t want to produce a perfect bike because everyone has their own idea of perfect so they have a few aftermarket/in house options to make the perfect bike. Also the exhaust is just something that the government requires.

    Work at an Indian dealer and in the past car dealers. These stickers with the "QR" (actually data matrix) codes are supposed to be removed during PDI and they will not actually scan with your phone because they are used in manufacturing so a QC system can scan and make sure they are there.

    remember as a corporation they have to follow the "new" epa regulations which now also include DB output. Sad thing is when you change the exhaust on any of these bikes today you will be eliminating the catalytic converter which then requires some retuning but they (epa) have been actively going after the tuner companies>>>>>>

    I just test drove this bike today. It has great torque and semi- comfy ride but it didn’t feel like a cruiser but more like a sport bike. I would recommend this for someone who still wants a sport bike with a cruiser type look.
    The semi comfy ride is because of the seating position. You’re leaning more forward which places stress on your lower back just as a street bike would. The Sport Scout Limited felt way better in my opinion and would be my choice in the new Scout lineup

      Used scout bobbers are still fetching a hell of a price. I see 2021 models going for 10k with like 15k miles. Msrp was like 11k in 2021. For some reason the used bike market when it comes to cruisers, naked bikes, and 600s is absolutely insane. I've seen guys try to sell used mt07s for 9k. Like brother I'm just gonna go buy a brand new mt09.

    As for the QR code I just bought an Indian Cheiftian, and it also had QR codes all over it. I seems to me what they use as it's going down the assembly line to make sure the corect parts are going on the corect model. Like this bike has ohlins shocks, so by scanning the code on the line is how they verify this. I doubt they are meant to be on long term just the dealer dosen't remove them.

    I agree that the power button is a huge gripe for me but wouldn't be a deal breaker. It looks like a solid bike and a huge contender in the sportier-cruiser market.
    I have a Harley low rider S that the prior owner dumped thousands into making it a stage 4 and I just loved the way it rode. If I didn't get that, I probably would've ended up with something like the FTR or this. Mine's the 2020 with the speedo and everything very much out of easy sight and I am a fan of just feeling the ride, so I think that technology bubble in front of me would probably just end up being taken over by my phone on the bar. It'd be cool if you could integrate your phone as a screen for your Indian via an app and customize everything about how it looks, what it displays, etc.
    Side note - quick remove saddle bags on a cruiser are awesome. Bags for beer runs and easily removable when you're just ridin around.

    Hey Dan, could you complement your review by talking about the tank? I agree that the bike is fantastic, but with only 3.4 gl the autonomy leaves something to be desired for a cruiser. I also think that the price could be something around 14k or 15k, and finally it would be great to have other color options for this trim, like smoke black (matte black).

  • @davewilton3101
    @davewilton3101 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

    In Canada it starts approx $23000 before options (bags $1500, heated grips $500+/- etc) so by the time you put 12+% sales taxes it's pushing $30k Cdn.....about what my 2022 Challenger cost before taxes wuthout options. I demoed a 101 last year and other than the tiny gas tank i really liked it but simply too much $$ when looking at the competition.

Now if they made this a barebones bike with analog and nothing high tech on it besides like the efi so they could drop the price..that would make it perfect, I’d pull a loan for that probably. But yeah a key fob bike and digital dash and the fancy stuff doesn’t do it for me. Especially on a bobber, 17k is crazy. I know my values are skewed but 17k is what I’d pay for an entry level touring cruiser (I know they’re a lot more than that).

    While $17k isn’t cheap, for perspective that’s $3k cheaper than a lowrider S. And isn’t powered by 1960’s tractor technology.
    There’s also the scout bobber and sport scout that are priced in the low teens

    Please; it is a 101 Scout, not a Scout 101. (Sounds like entry level classes; ie Math 101, English 101, Science 101). Although, this is a bike that can be ridden by a beginner, it boasts 111 hp and with all of the advanced features, this Scout is not entry level. I love my 101 Scout and ride it more than my H-D bagger.

    Its a nice looking bike, but new rides are just too expensive considering you can pick up a good used bike for under 5 to 7K. Its all the nannies they force you to buy that drove up the prices to just shy of a new commuter car.

    The QR codes that are just stickers are supposed to be removed by the dealer prior to pickup. If they are still there then it’s just a lazy dealership.

    • @Jpizzle376
      @Jpizzle376 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Dealers are told not to remove any stickers. This has been a back and forth with my dealerships for years. And regardless of what some others have said, it is not in the pdi to remove them.
      Trust me, I would rather remove them than have a customer do it and damage something that they then want warranty and have to fight that battle.

      @@Jpizzle376 As a licensed seller of these I’ve even had the national Indian rep make comments about removing these prior to delivery (hence my comment). Perhaps one for the “jury” to ponder as you are 100% correct in what you’ve mentioned.

    They should just put the QR codes with part images and put it in the manual that you can reference instead of plastering the bike with QR codes.

    I've had one for about a month and generally agree, except for the instrument cluster points. Thought you were way too kind. Ride Command is a dumpster fire. The QR code thing makes me grind my teeth for sure. I don't mind the ones that are painted on, but the stickers are galling. Shouldn't that be one of those "dealer setup fee" things?
    Good looks go a long way though. Super, super, super fun to ride.

    I love the sound of the stock 101 pipes. I'm so sick of loud ass obnoxious Harleys all over ATL. The "modern" (younger) cruiser riders largely aren't with that shit anymore. I'm 45 - so that means I'm young as FVCK, duh. LOL. There's plenty of loud bikes out here - I'm here for the switch-up. In 20 years when I'm 60 and can't hear I'll do loud pipes bc I wouldn't be able to hear 'em anyway.
    Actually I'm not tired of loud bikes - it's just a breath of fresh air when not all of them are.

  • @marcusgeorge1825
    @marcusgeorge1825 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Load pipes don’t save lives in 2024. Cars today are simply built with improved external sound deadening. Apart from the emergency services vehicles which have high pitched sirens for a reason. Even a stock new HD sounds like a sewing machine due to EPA regulations.
