Great video Ken. I definitely want to get the Rudy 4k and The Naked Gun 4k,I love both of those movies. Also I'm very much a Massive Titanic fan. The main reason I wouldn't get the special edition set is because of how the disc's are packaged.
Titanic is the Gone With the Wind of this era. I knew that when I saw the film on release. My wife's cousin had a small non speaking uncredited part and so I heard many stories leading up to release. Such a special movie in literally every aspect. I thought it was unfortunate Leo didn't win an Oscar, and that was back when the Oscars still meant something. Now it's like... well, you know.
Not really. It won only two of the top 5 Academy Awards. Gone with the Win won 4/5.
1) Best Picture
2) Best Director
3) Best Screenplay
4) Best Actress.
@@jeffreykaufmann2867 Getting "only" 2 Academy Awards, doesn't mean it wasn't an epic movie like Gone With the Wind. The commentator said it was the Gone With the Wind of this era, not that it was better. Why is that so bothersome to you?
@frommatorav1 It doesn't come close to Gone With the Wind or Ben Hur. The Best part of Titanic happens after it hits the iceberg. Before then it's average.

@frommatorav1 When I first saw the film the most exciting parts for me were seeing the Wreck of the Titanic in detail and the Action after it hits the iceberg.
And I would have preferred an older looking Male lead. Leonardo di Caprio looks like a skinny teenager.
Great video, Ken! I can't wait to get my 4K and my Collector's Edition of Titanic! Arrives on Tuesday and Wednesday respectfully. I have watched Titanic a total of 241 times, never gets old. Truly a masterpiece.
Awesome that Paramount sent you the Titanic Collectors Edition. Looks great. I'm getting the standard 4K release. Can't wait to see it in 4K. I bought the bluray few years back but never watched so I haven't seen since the double VHS tape set I had back in the day.
The Titanic 4k collectors edition is very similar to the recenty released Star trek the motion picture 4k collectors edition also from paramount..thin boxset.

I really like the Titanic 4k Box. It reminds me of my Laser Disc Boxset Collection. U kw the money u spent was well worth it. But i jus dt hav the room for Big sets anymore....
It's true that for 120 dollars I can buy around 10 to 12 movies, but I had to buy this collector's edition before it goes out of stock which I'm sure it will.
Lost count how many times I've seen Titanic. Watched it 3 times at the cinema in 98 and probably a dozen times since lol. I just gone for the standard edition, but I can't wait to watch it in 4K with Dolby Atmos etc. I knew it'd be something special. I also imported Rudy from the US, cost £36 but well worth it. Great film.

They made a replica of the note that Rose leaves for Cal, which references her portrait, but not a replica of the portrait? Kinda defeats the purpose, doesn't it?
"Lords of Dogtown" features a great performance by Heath Ledger, but the documentary "Dogtown and Z-Boys" which its based on is much better. Narrated by Sean Penn, the director was not only one of the original Z-Boys and a mentor to Tony Hawk, but his follow-up doc "Riding Giants", featuring Laird Hamilton is great too. They're both available on Blu-ray
Very cool that Paramount sent you this…it does look nice but I certainly would have liked to have seen the case with slip cover included. Especially at that price point. I love James Cameron but this is one of his films I just don’t care all that much about. I thought it was a good film, just didn’t love it for whatever reason. I’ll likely get the regular slipcover release. Thanks as always Kenny Levels for sharing! Get some R&R 😉
''BLUE STEEL'' was previously released on Blu-ray internationally. But never got a U.S. release until now. As far as the box set of ''TITANIC'', it's awesome but DEFINATELY NOT $120.00. It should have been at least $ 80.

Blue Steel has a blu ray release from Imprint in a Neo Noir Boxset first time in the US I believe
The only thing I don't appreciate is the cardboard sleeve, they should have put at least a plastic tray like in the deluxe dvd version

I had to bite the bullet on that SCREAM VI steelbook because 1) it goes with the rest of the SCREAM steels I have and 2) the price *never* dropped. For months it sat at $36 and I knew that it would win so I caved.
Blue Steel Blu-ray first time in US. Imprint released as part of After Dark box set last year. That is the release I have. Titanic box set is cool. Just not the movie FOR ME to spend that kind of money on. Agree, the option is awesome!
I've started collecting movies a long time ago and even after all these years I still don't have that many movies. I only have a little more than 700 dvds/blurays/4ks in my collection.
I have my coppies of Naked Gun, Tales From The Dark Side, and I am looking forward to my basic slipcover version of Titanic! As awesome as that special edition is... I am going cheap. 😜

With titanic 4k im just going to get the standard release with the slipcover if possible. The movie will look beautiful in 4k.
Have you seen Gran Turismo 4K yet? So far that's the best 4k quality I have seen.
I picked up Rudy since I reviewed it for some purpose of life films I talked about a year ago. I LOVE the cover and back cover! Didn't buy it at Amazon since I don't want to support them but I will be excited to go through the extras and fill out my review a bit more. Physical media is also great for taking screen captures to add to reviews.

Best three sports movie of all time. The Natural, Hoosiers, The Longest Yard(original with Eddie Albert and Bert Reynolds, not the crummy remake with Adam Saddler.

the Collectors edition of Titanic is cool... but also really expensive for a single title. It should have come WITH a steelbook for $130. But on that topic WHERE IS THE REGULAR 4K STEELBOOK? Like a nice $40-50 option would have been amazing. Paramount really missed not having that. Guess I'll slum it with the slipcover copy.

Titanic Collector's Edition looks cool but abet pricey!
I'm🙏for Top Secret! to be in 4k as well..next year would be it's 40th Anniversary.The bluray they released,(from boutique label ViaVision,not Paramount),wasn't all that good,looked more like a DVD upgrade to me,it was not what you call great picture quality,(even for a bluray).What it needs though is a 4k restoration along with it being scanned from a new master from it's camera negative,now how good would that look?I do believe Sony did that for Val Kilmer's other great 80's comedy Real Genius recently for that film's 35th Anniversary..Paramount didn''t do a great job on The Naked Gun's 4k,so i'm hoping Paramount actually doesn't come out with it,but that Sony does it's 4k rather.
That Titanic CE is way waaay overpriced and it will probably be down to half its price before long. That is Columbia Classics price range and look what you get for that. Also, the book in that also has lots of interesting text with the pretty pictures. I'll stick with the keep case that has all the substantive on-disc extras.
**Ken** given how expensive the S-E of Titanic 4K, what do you think of the packaging?
It's great packaging no denying that. That being said, 130 is a little too high for one movie, in any type of packaging. But if you're worried about the quality, don't be.
@@midlevelmedia Ken that is alright. I just find it 'interesting' that $130 dollars does not afford a proper amaray case in the way that columbia classics does.---Another channel that I watch reviewed Titanic 4k se too, they say that It is over priced by about half. Have a good Christmas
Why do you keep saying it cost $120 at Amazon?? Where did you get that from? It’s always been $134.99 pretty much everywhere. It dropped from $153.99 .

Nope. I commented that earlier this year on a post celebrating Titanic's 25th anniversary and I got piled on by people who kept saying most of its Theatrical run was in 98. Like that matters. It still released in 97 DAMNIT! 😂😂
@@midlevelmedia Unrelated, but you should check out the Cocoon blu ray and DVD video JoBlo put out about an hour ago, as it talks about digital versus physical media and why you shouldn’t get rid of your blu rays and DVDs. I think you’ve talked a few times about it on the channel, but the more awareness to not truly owning digital media the better

I'm not a fan of Titanic so that set is not for me. But Disney and Warner should take notes from Paramount on how to do box sets. That Titanic set is nicer than the $1500 Disney anniversary box set.
