    21 Iron 1200.
    Added explorer seat from Saddlemen.
    Forward controls with mini boards.
    Rear shocks.
Stock bars are nice, no change. Mini apes.
Added a small faring to help keep wind off chest.

I have an 06 Custom, and added a Saddlemen Explorer seat (best decision ever), and highway pegs for extra foot positions. I can ride forever seems like now.

I have a RockitShifter too and love it but it's even better with Accutronix 6" extensions on my 2017 Sporty 48. Now I can really stretch out. I'm not tall only 5'8" but I like to not be pretzelized on my bike. I also put on risers, a Saddleman seat, your rear shocks, and driving led lites. I always want a triangle of lites front and back on every bike I own. Driving lites with the headlight and aux brake lites with the stock brake lite to give me that safety edge in visibility. I have not seen much improvement in ride ability with your rear shocks but have a pair of bagger air shocks that I plan to put on soon. I would have used intiminators as on my KLR but the 48 is not able to take advantage of them due to front fork suspension.

      For Chris
Glad you are being able to stretch out and enjoy the Rock-It-Shift.
Have you looked at our LED's for Sportys? Here is a link- www.dkcustomproducts.com/lights-c98-313.htm
Regarding the shocks, you should have felt a very significant improvement. In that you have not seen much improvement, that leads me to think they are either not adjusted correctly, or may have some other issue going on. Please get with us at one of the contacts below so we can get it resolved for you.
Yes, the Intiminators make a nice difference, but with the 48 it does call for replacement of the cartridge with OEM damper rod.

My touring bike is an '05 883C, previous owner added the detachable sissy bar, Harley accessory leather saddle bags, and lowered the rear with 11" Dyna shocks. Looked cool, handled well, but 150 miles would beat you to death. I changed to Pirelli MT66 tires, Mustang vintage wide 2 piece seat and large back rest, large Harley accessory clip on windshield, Road King 14" air shocks with the oil changed to 5W synthetic, twin power rotors and sintered brake pads, and a lace wheel on the rear. Also relocated both front and rear turn signals, with running lights added to the rear for increased visibility. The back is a bit higher than I wanted as it messed with the rake and trail some, but it still handles decent, stops better than ever, and a 500 mile day is pretty comfortable.
The next planned mods when the budget allows are some of your running boards, Intiminators in the forks, buckhorn bars, and going with some shorter rear shocks.

08 nightster. Mustang cyclone solo pan seat ridged. Suspension is progressive f&r, 14" narrow bottom apes, and the biggest is I took harley touring passenger contemporary style floorboards and custom made mounts for them for the forward controls. The floorboards were the icing on the cake. Bike used to wear me out holding legs up. I need to look into heel toe shift now. I find myself kicking down going from my daily touring bike over to the sporty. It kills me and I miss it when ride the sporty.

A comfortable Sportster? Buy a 2017-2021 Roadster (for the Suspension) and place a seat you can move around on (forward and back). I went with a 60's Cobra Style Seat that does not lock you into one position.

Yes we do, you can see them at the following two links (and we ship World-Wide)
      Chrome- www.dkcustomproducts.com/chrome-floorboards-mid-or-forward-mount-sportster-dyna-softail.htm
      Black- www.dkcustomproducts.com/black-floorboards-mid-or-forward-mount-sportster-dyna-softail-dk-blk-flb-htm.htm
I do not believe we have any for sale on ebay, and if we did, I don't think it would be any less expensive than getting them from one of the links above.
However, if there is some other reason that you want them via ebay, you can email Natalie at the email address below and ask her if she can put some on ebay for you.

    14 Sportster 48
    Man this thing is rough.
It's my first Harley and I love the sound but I'm not impressed with how rough the right is and how unstable it feels between 80 and 100.
Really got me a bit sideways because I feel it should be better for the price. Harley sells you shit you have to upgrade off the floor

    • @DKCustomProducts
      @DKCustomProducts  ปีที่แล้ว

There is a reason your 48 is a blank canvas. You can see a video on the HD Strategy in this video- th-cam.com/video/__NE6h1DhCg/w-d-xo.html
Stability can be greatly increased with flooboards, as seen in the following link. When I put them on my Sporty I was very surprised how much more stable high speed cruising was.
      www.dkcustomproducts.com/black-floorboards-mid-or-forward-mount-sportster-dyna-softail-dk-blk-flb-htm.htm
Suspension upgrade will greatly improve how smooth it rides!

@@DKCustomProducts watched it. Thanks for the link.
I get that it's a project bike but I've never heard anyone say they wish it was this hard on their ass. Seems the base model would be at least not spine jarring.
Another question though, I'm the third owner, I bought it last month with 2900 miles.
Ive put 1100 on it and I'm getting an odd feeling between 80-100 that feels like it's ready to wobble in the front.
      Pretty unnerving.
The guy at Harley laughed and said it wasn't designed for those speeds.
I'm on the highway a lot and if thats true then together with that suspension, I may just need to defer back to my Honda magna for trips.
I know I'm not paying you to be my mechanic. Any, off the cuff ideas that I should be looking at?
No fork oil showing, no visible abnormalities, no 'noticeable' flat spot in the tire either (it was parked in a garage for 18months).

@@310sbell For those of us that like a smoother ride, it is really surprising that thousands upon thousands of riders are not bothered by the OEM Sportster suspension. Everybody has different levels of what is a comfortable ride for them.
      Regarding 80-100 mph....
I regularly cruise at 70-80 mph on my different Sportsters. I will speed up to 90-95 when passing...and on all of them felt a bit squirrelly.. Until I installed floorboards. They block the wind from my feet, and then I am not making constant micro adjustments. They provide a much more stable ride at all speeds, especially noticeable at higher speeds.
I linked to them in my previous response, and here is a video on them-
      th-cam.com/video/NA7_0tUCen0/w-d-xo.html
That video explains why and how they make for a more stable ride.
That said, you want to check to make sure the neck bearing is adjusted properly, wheel bearings are good, tire is balanced.
Regarding not designed for that...hogwash. I' was in Wisconsin one summer and was in a hurry to get home to Mississippi, and rode near 90 mph the entire way home, zero issues..

You can’t do enough to your bike to make sure you are SEEN by cagers! I know everyone wants a cool looking bike and no one wants an excess of lights or an excess of anything but being SEEN can literally be the difference between life and death! No joke! I found out the hardest of ways possible. I lost my youngest son Josh to a motorcycle accident Tuesday November 29th at about 7:00 pm. An elderly lady did not see him on his old sportster and pulled out right in front of him. Witnesses say he didn’t have any time to react at all. His first and only accident he ever had. He was wearing all his gear. Did not matter. He was killed pretty much instantly. If they don’t SEE you, someone will pull out in front of you!

For the most part, they are morons. They don't think of the ramifications of their carelessness. I definitely want to be seen. A lot of the time, I use my hand signals during the day, for that reason. I hope to brighten my bike up, too, when I can afford it.
I hate that your son was taken from you and his daughter, and that riding/life was taken from him, especially by a cager.

I guess an RK is fine if that's what you want, but all that extra size and weight is a hassle, especially if you live in an area where half the county roads aren't paved. With just a little work you can make a Sportster ride as nicely and handle better than the bigger bikes.
