Thanks so much! I very much appreciate how you not only discussed the features of this library, but also how best to use it. A huge bonus for me was the dissection of your composition, including your choices for other instruments and how you orchestrated the whole thing.

Hi Pete! Thanks so much for the kind comment. We really feel the compositions are very important so we can see how they sound in a project! Sometimes, they are very short composing projects, but it gives us a good idea of ways to approach composing with them. Thanks again!

Very well explained. The composition is brilliant! I wish you had orchestral classes

Thanks so much! They are superb strings! No classes sadly, just constantly making music and always trying to learn! :) have a great day!

Will getting these as own all the other parts to the library so a no brainer. No discount offered yet however for owners. How does the legato in your view compare with that offered in the new AR Orchestra string sections? Really good review, thankyou🙂🙂

For me, the discount was applied to the AR1 collection as a whole, not to the individual library. Because I had all the other parts already, my upgrade cost was $31, so I got Soaring Strings for that amount. Maybe it is the same for you. If you own all the other parts, you will be able to "buy" the collection for $31. Please let me know if this is the case for you too. Thanks.

@@NeuroPete Thanks for your reply. That's interesting as tried lots of different ways, I.e. different browsers, tried going though the Spitfire installer but my price was £49 whatever I did to complete the collection (the only missing piece for me). I still bought it. So wonder if you received the Educational discount maybe? I also was surprised there is no vibrato control available. Maybe there's a good sonic reason for that rather than a simple omission. Would be good to know if there's a glitch in the system with the discount. Cheers.

@@user-pi2qd5zr8b Thanks for letting me know. I don't think I am getting an educational discount. Not fair when some people have to pay more. Might it be worth a message to Spitfire support? The amount is small, but it is the principle.
Regarding vibrato, I am thinking it might make sense only for solo performances. This library is an ensemble of strings. It seems that it would be tricky for real players to get their vibratos to line up, so doing so in a sample library might sound unnatural.

@@NeuroPete Yes I agree on the vibrato. Thankyou yes will email them and see what they say as whatever way I bought it you'd think by signing in it would have made the connection. Cheers and thanks again for your excellent review .

Is the portamento controllable through velocity or just always there on some of the transitions?

    • @thesampleist
      @thesampleist  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I didn't find them controllable really. Thanks for the comment!

A long video for one instrument with 3 articulation patches

Thanks. I think between the examples, the controls, the mic mixing, the composition and talking about that, there is some good content there. Obviously different composers look for different aspects of the instrument so we try to cover in as much detail as we can, with examples. Cheers for watching!

This is the level of detail, most of us want. Not a skim through, only to be disappointed with our purchase later and it not reaching expectations, so thank you for this in-depth quality.

As nice as the whole Abbey Road package is, IMHO it's way overpriced. Certainly not a must buy.
That said, I do love many of Spitfires products.

Cheers! That is the beauty of libraries! Our ability to make an informed choice. I bought Abbey Road One when it was first released and love it. It is perfect for my needs but my needs aren’t the same as every composer! :)

The trick in this case is we really DIDN'T know how to make an informed choice because it took a few years for the whole package to come out. The AR1 collection was kind of a "buy one and see what we do next" proposition. They took me hook, line and sinker. I DO like the sound of AR1, however I wonder if I would have bought the complete collection if it had come out all at once. For the money spent, I would not have spent it all on this collection. For the money spent on this entire collection--the base and NINE additional mini sets, charlesyateschalfant is right on the mark. It's overpriced. I do appreciate your TH-cam reviews! @@thesampleist
