Hands up for an air vent mount! I often rent cars and I'd like to be able to bring the mount to every car I rent, same as I do with my current Spigen magnet air vent mount.
Love all of my Peak products, but this one, unfortunately, was a bit of a miss. Seems like it didn't quite receive the same care and thoughtfulness as the rest of the products. The biggest issue a lot of people are going to run into is the stem length. It's simply not long enough to provide the flexibility to put it in a large variety of vehicles. I managed to (barely) get it to fit in my Civic, but I literally only had one spot I could place it. And the base never completely conformed to my dash in that location either. I'm confident that the phone will never fall off the mount, but I'm not as confident that the mount won't eventually fall off the car. It works, and overall I love it, but a couple more design passes on this thing could have made it stellar. If you have a spot on your dash that the mount will fit to well, you'll love this thing. But if you don't, it's probably going to be a bit frustrating for you. There's definitely some dash designs out there that just won't work well with the short stem of this thing.
This is exactly what I'm concerned about. Can you tell us how big is the base of this thing? In other words, how much space do we need to install it in our car
@@1n1t I'm afraid I butchered mine (before they released the charging action version) to mount it to a RAM suction mount; I sawed off the base and no longer have it... haha. But it's small. ~2.5cm by 5cm? The problem for me was largely the length of the stem. It's very short, and didn't allow me to have the phone far enough away from my dash to angle it straight without bumping into the dash.
I have 4 car mounts and love them. Our family if fully bought into the system and we have two mounts in each car. It's so clean and easy. We have 3 drivers in our family and everyone's phones work with these mounts making driving with google maps much easier. Keep up the great work PD!
This seems to go against peak designs usual standard. I would have totally expected it to have a removable ball mount. I would also have expected them to provide more mounting options, like fan and glass mounts. Hope they remedy this with a v2
I own three of these. But I bought them because they are the cheapest charging mount PD makes. Unfortunately unlike that other dozen or so PD items I own that are awesome, these are pretty useless without modification.
I don't see the small relief cuts on the base plate profile on any of your Peak Design car mounts I see on sale currently. Where can we purchase this new model?
Don’t take this personally but this is a horrible mount. It offers few mounting options and has limited adjustment. It’s insulting for you to say there is no better way to mount your phone. This mount is *THE ONLY* reason I haven’t bought your case. PLEASE FIX THIS PD!

💯 i think there is really a demand! For now I am happy that the case works great with my "China" air vent mount.
Air vent mounts are trash. I’ve had two snap in the past having the weight of a phone on the flimsy plastic
Vent mounts are horrible. That also means I can't run the heat as my phone turns off because it's too hot even when I close the vent too.

Been looking for exactly this. Why am I not surprised I found another amazing product from Peak Design?

How easy is it to remove from the ball joint to put on a flat surface?
And how strong are the magnets compared to other wireless magnetic chargers?
I have same question if I can just remove ball join and attach to an existed car mount...
