  • Running a marathon is stressful for the body.
But what specifically happens to your body AFTER you've raced 26.2 miles?
Lunser and colleagues examined the response to the cartilage in your knees after a marathon.
The authors used ultrasound to measure articular cartilage changes in 38 marathon runners two hours before and immediately following the race.
No further deformation occurred following marathon running compared to other weight-bearing exercises, including normal daily activities.
Running didn't stress the knee more than day-to-day life.
This is a critical study to know, especially if your physician, family, or friends tell you running is bad for your knees.
