Adam Saleh He did about the same thing, the only tricky part is the city popping up animation, but he either animated that himself or found it online
Element 3D
@@KeleDiabateRoadToTokyo nothing he does in this tutorial is that 3D. This can only be done in Element 3D due to the 3D limitations of After Effects (probably with the camera tracker)

In after effects, probably with track camera. The hands are roto'd out and the animation popping could be an asset as Kele said.

Check out google earth studio, and its compatibility to AE. Its way better/versitile.

It lets you animate a the camera in the map scene and then export it with tracking points for later use in AE
Gotta respect Rockstar for doing this in real time with actual in-game level geometry.
Google earth has a new tool where you can select a viewpoint, add keyframes and generate a map animation right from google earth. You can find it here: www.google.com/earth/studio/

try using NUKE..than you would say AE is easy :D
This is so unrealistic!!.. gta 5 never loads this fast.. you gotta stretch this out to at least 30 min to get the real "gta feeling" :p

What i did was just to record while pressing 2d on google maps so that it tilts and then line up everything

Hei Andreas. I tried the GTA maps effect with like 30 screenshot layers from Switzerland to America but it doesen't work. It just works with like 4-5 layers. You know why?

@ 1:59, when you're lining up the two maps, set the top map to Difference transfer mode to really make it easy to see if its aligned.

To fast. I never used After Effects before, it's hard to understand what you doing and why. I try fallowing your steps but does't always work like you show it.

Could this be done in the Fusion Section of Davinci Resolve 16? Since you can create camera layers and 3D it seems so - but I'd be interested if anyone knows?

Andrew from Videocopilot did this a few years ago without the switch of position, Andrew's zoom is better though.

For the composition it's easier to not touch the floor, since the floor doesn't move in real life. Parent the camera to a 3d null and do all the animations there, that way you don't mess up the camera moves. I remember learning, that if you can avoid animating the camera settings, you should.
I would've done also easy eases on the hard stops you did. Other than that, nice tutorial, like your presentation and backdrop a lot. Keep up the good work
