I actually liked the romance between asuka and judai in the anime. I feel that and her missing brother plot line really fleshed her out as a person outside of dueling which was cool. I felt her feelings for judai were really cute and pure. Asuka fell for judai because he was a sweet, caring, brave guy who was also a goofball. She liked how kind and gentle he was and heavily respected his passion and drive. It was cute to see her slowly fall for him. Their chemistry was also great and adorable. I also feel her holding back her confession to judai at the end was very telling of her character. She didn’t reveal her feelings because she knew judai was leaving and didn’t want to worry him or complicate their friendship. She just wanted him to be happy and smile, even if it hurt her heart to see him go. That’s love. I agree their romance could have been handled better and fleshed out more to fit better, but it’s yugioh and the romance is always a little shaky. Overall I feel anime Alexis/asuka was great and the very similar to her manga counterpart (although I liked her anime personality a tad better), but she would have been even better if she got the plot independence of manga Alexis while retaining her more emotional plot lines of the anime. I think asuka still is the best female yugioh character tho overall (maybe aki tied with her) in both the anime and manga. She was just a cool character with a lot to her, even if she got sidelined later.
Poor Anime Chazz, the guy just can't catch a break - Alexis: I'm sorry, Chazz, I don't love you because I'm in love with dueling! *Episode later* Alexis:
Yeah, but Manjoume is rich and might have become big in the pro league. He had a lot of respect for her and seemed genuinely in love. I like to think she grew up and reached out to him before too much time had passed. Judai would be an awful choice since he has a demon card spirit inside him that has a tendency to harm people for crazy reasons. Yeah Yubel got "redeemed" but she was cruel before and after being shot into space. Imo Yubel is only being nice because she has Judai, and anything that would even slightly threaten her relationship with him would make Yubel react violently. I know they aren't popular pairings but Yubel x Judai and Asuka x Manjoume are the ones I prefer. I know Yubel looks nasty, but she can just shapeshift or use illusions to fix that.
I like Alexis, as she was my childhood crush watching the show, but she is my favorite female Yu-Gi-Oh! Character too, and GX has always been my favorite series
Anime Alexis/Asuka: Cyber Girl themed duelist created for the romantic and distress bit despite being a Ritual/Fusion expert and had a one sided unessesary romance for her character and she is in love with dueling and wants to be a teacher and study abroad and was considered the Queen Of Obelisks but she fell in grace in Season 3 and Season 4, her season 1 and 2 moments were amazing especially the plot about her brother went missing. Manga Alexis: An Ice themed duelist adapted Suki from Avatar The Last Airbender formula which lacked Fusion and Ritual expertise in dueling but was more consistent in presence and held her own as duelist and wanted to stand out as such,no damsel in distress act, her dreams and goals are unknown but despite that she lived up to her title of Queen Of The Obelisks. Conclusion: Manga Alexis should have been adapted into the anime by mixing her with her anime persona and adding few extra layers which would have made the best and greatest girl in all of Yu-gi-oh.
Kinda odd that almost all the female students we met in GX are exclusively Obelisk Blue. Alexis' record really underrepresents as a "Queen of Obelisk Blue Girls".
It feel like just because you're a girl, you get treated to the highest class dorm, rather than taken to the dorm based on your grades like the boys do. That's honestly the impression I'm getting based on the lack of Slifer Red or Ra Yellow girls in the academy.
Well there was one Slifer Red in the other girl that comes in towards the end of the series. Don't remember her name but she had a crush on Jaden to. Now that you mention it though. I don't recall a single female Ra Yellow.
darksideofevil13 she Is an exception as she was thought to Be a boy and when it was revealed she Is a Girl they try to move her to obelisk... If My memory serves me right, Been a while since last watched gx
You know what comes to my mind. If Alexis would take Neos and write down a love letter on Neos Jaden would still fail to get it and instead would ask who scribbled on Neos. Thats how brainless this guy is in comparison to any other YuGiOh protagonist. FML.
The thing with yugi was that it was a clear situation in regards of both liking each other (the confusing part was whether she likes Atem or Yugi more). And Yusei from 5Ds was 20 at the end (the oldest protagonist so far) which made him more rational in decisions leading to this reasearch to safe the world from being destroyed in the future. 5Ds was more of a tragic romance. That made these stand out. Judai from GX became more mature from season to season but in order to make him mature visibly they made him dumber than a piece of whitebread which kills everything except the main plot.
i like Asuka as a character in Gx ,she was a good duelist but your right she didn't have as many solo duels as Judai and won against opponents who where not very strong, she flip flop so many time that they made her someone you didn't you before and she really liked Judai but they never got together because Yugioh doesn't focus on romance , i mean Look at Aki and Yusei from 5d's am i right or wrong.
To me the best waifu to me is probably Carley she is Just adorable and she has an amazing arc in the 1st season with Jack (best character) But after the 1st season she forgot her character development( by the way I know about the whole Cult thing.)
Akiza is 1st, but Alexis is close 2nd Akiza isn't just pretty face, she actually has both a meaningful backstory and character arc. She starts as a manipulated weapon in the hands of a power-hungry psycho psyker, breaks free of his conditioning and brainwashing, develops not just feelings for the protagonist but resolves to actually improve and grow as a Duelist (i.e. code for "person" in the Yugioh universe). So she not only learns how to recognize when someone is using her and breaks free of that but actually becomes MORE than just a cardboard cut-out whose entire purpose is to be eye-candy for the audience (nothing wrong with that IMO, just makes a character less impactful to the story) and the love interest for the protag. If I had to choose one to marry, I'd rather marry a girl like Akiza than Alexis. Akiza demonstrated growth as an individual and as a character. By the end of the 5D's run she was almost a completely different (better) person then when she first appeared, and showed actual character traits like compassion, the ability to reason, and the ability to develop meaningful relationships with others. Aaaaaaaaaand she has big tiddies, which is niiice! :P
I like anime Asuka better because Cyber Girls are my favorite archetype. But the fact Asuka was tossed aside in the anime is something that's always got to me, especially since she is my favorite Yugioh character. I was hoping Arc-V would use her better but they didn't
"Queen of the Obelisks" Obelisk: a tall, phallus-shaped pillar Yes, I'm sure she was called "Queen of the Obelisks" because of her skills with handling "decks" *Slaaneshi giggling*
Many weeb have been triggered and are now keyboard warriors making an entire essay about how much they despise you for saying their waifu is somewhat of a harlot.
Yep, three major things wrong with the GX anime: 1) A lot of one-shot villains... a lot of them to tend to be part of filler episodes. 2) A lot of one-shot cards... no seriously, there are dozens of anime-only cards that only show up ONCE the whole series, and most of them (if not all) are decent enough to be made into real life with no alterations and not be broken, in fact, some would have to be buffed to be of any relevance. 3) It was 90% focused on Jaden... no seriously, did he have to take care of 5 of the 7 shadow riders, and that is just one example. This detail alone will plague all the GX anime V manga analysis done on this channel... or just, all the ones done period.
edo was trash in after season 2. Cyrus surpassing them made little sense because we didn't see much development. Z-one was a confusing villain imo. him helping yusei made me wonder if he wanted to complete his objective or not
Agreed, Season 1 was completely Jaden focused, but it got better as it went on. Season 2 was primarily Jaden with a Aster Side story. Season 3 was where characters were used, Atticus, Chazz, Hassleberry and Alexis were what propelled Jaden into the Supreme King. Aster and Zane were the Dark Heroes who helped the village and broke into the Supreme King Lair and gave great final duels. Jim and O'Brien were what defeated the Supreme King, Syrus became the Watcher, the one who saw all. Season 4 of course went even more with this, giving everyone epilogue episodes. Chazz becoming a Professional Duelist and becoming as good as Jaden, Syrus surpassing his brother, Alexis going to America to complete her dreams and even Crowler moving on with his life. So while you are right on the third point, it's gone by the middle of season 3.
I'll be honest, I don't even remember much of Alexis in the manga, except that she always lost to every Duelist that had a "Planet" card. However, I do agree that Alexis in the anime really dropped the ball for her. Alexis was Yugioh's first attempt at having a female Duelist after how Teá was just a sidelined love interest that was just there. However, they fell right into the old habits of making her be romanced with the main protag.
It's incredible how much this channel blew up, I remember when I hopped on board way back when the seto Kaiba=Arc-V main antagonist video was first posted. Ya done good Dylan
yeah, haha. Since I mainly watched the yu gi oh stuff I guess I just blurred the stuff from clueless gamers that was yu gi oh related onto this channel in my memory
That means he still has more "maturing" to do! Besides, I think the ending is pretty ambiguous; they could have met up sometime later and hook up. I think the writers left it up to our imaginations.
Yugioh Everything I don't know when I was a kid I just saw him I was like okay I like his personality I like his character and I like his deck that he is that's why I only use a hero deck because of Jayden
Jaden(I'm sorry, I just like that name more than Judai) Is also definitely one of my favorite protagonists. It's sad that he gets a lot of flak by most fans of Yu-Gi-Oh, but honestly, he's a great character. He's just a great ball of fun to be around for most of the series, and despite the fact that the Magic Poker Equation comes into play for a lot of his duels, he's an amazing duelist, and his monsters not only look cool, but have cool powers.
I think it's hysterical how gx came out so long ago and showed so few wins for Asuka/Alexis, yet her archetype of cyber angels was years ahead of its time having only come out last year(2016) in the tcg and it was dominant for a while upon release, while most other decks of that time have long went obsolete without new support yet hers was strong with the old cards that were just never printed
Yugioh Everything no that's off, what actually happened is that the people that make cards ran out of ideas and decided to print her cards with brand new buffed effects
Such a shame,I really wanted to see Asuka do so much more! I seriously don't know why the writers downgraded her so much. And don't even get me started with Asuka in Arc V lol
tbh, I actually forgot that she even existed at Arc-V... they really didn't wanna bother to make her stand out much, compared to the other cameo chars :U
+Andres Marrero ikr... I mean, it was very obvious at DM, but the female duelists outside of DM was actually decently good, even more so for Asuka, Aki, Luna and Serena... at least we got Ray that might be able to stop Zarc if she does appear owo
Holy shit every main female role in these Yu-Gi-Oh! Shows are done terribly..Tea doesn't duel, she dueled 3 times though, all of which being filler I believe. Mai, the female duelist did not win a single duel since John Calud Magnum who I'm also convinced is filler. Asuka was done MUCH better than both of them in GX but got done dirty after Season 2, until Season 4 imo. Akiza was amazing, until Blackwing Popularity increased, you all(the compeitve fans) did this to us. Kotori wasn't much of a duelist, Cathy Katherine did not win a SINGLE duel, not even one off screen to my memeory, and Rio was introduced wayyy to late. Yuzu got done dirty, her last duel being the FATTEST OF L'S, and stopped after episode 83 (I believe.) Serena was the main female dueling presence for most the show, then got kidnapped and brain washed, Rin literally dueled ONCE in the entire show and it was brainwashed, and while Ruri dueled 3 times, all of them except for one were loses to my belief. I don't watch Vrains but I really do hope they do female characters much better there. And DON'T EVEN MENTION THE ARC-V ALEXIS, OH GOD.
worldwanderer91 and if it was for children then they wouldn't have added dark elements throughout the series. It would have just been like pokemon( excluding the manga)
True true. Shadow Rider arc is a big example where most of the other powerful duelists on the Duel Academy Island lost their duels with the Shadow Riders. Asuka should have been the one dueling her brother not Judai.
I find her anime character was better than her manga character. Because she actually had a bit of a purpose more than she did in the manga. Also she seemed to have better development in the anime.
Thats actually a fair point, she was utilized a bit more in terms of the main storyline in the anime! Just were a lot of episodes that she didn't do nothing, but I suppose thats because the anime had a lot more episodes than the manga did for instance
@Al Gore after /pol/ not really, season 2 was her struggle to actually keep to the name "queen of the blues" which was how the light of destruct took over her and in Season 4 it was her deciding what to do with her life after school.
Just joined the channel man. Thank you so much for the video, and I look forward to your content whenever it's ready :). Didn't know the manga portrayed characters differently to this extent.
I like the anime counterpart more actually. I always love a love-connection between characters, so her crush on Jaden almost pushed her towards trying to become a better duelist.
I've never really watched GX (nor 5ds, just the first 50 episodes of both of them) but I had the opportunity to take a closer look at Asuka (especially the manga vers. because I dont read the manga(they are not selling it in my region, goddammit! )). Thanks, Dylan! Btw an "Anime vs Manga" video on the teacher ( *forgot his name* ) would be cool! Have a nice day! Also I'm starting to work on my calculations for the contest, my break was extended by 2 days lol xD Sorry for the long ass comment, I'm in the ranty mood rn haha xD
I like her better in the manga since she seemed to be a more rounded character and wasn't a damsel in distress. Although, I wish she got a couple more wins in the manga.
I remember seeing Asuka in the anime for the first time and thinking: "Whoa! She looks awesome! I want to grow up being as cool as her!" Safe to say is, I regret ever thinking that :(
Even though I never read GX just frim your summery I prefer the manga version because in that one she wasn't a damsel in distress like she was for the other 3 seasons of GX ( and somehow she was even worse in Arc-v ) but her manga version does sound like a character I would like if she was in the anime
she wasn't, in the manga she duel 3 times only won like once because the villains decided to not use their best cards. and did nothing for the rest of a series. She didn't even have a arc she was just there.
I think her Anime version suffered greatly from a lack of proper writing and complete under utilization. This is a hindering trope that YuGiOh must abolish to make any sort of progress with female characters. I'm not sure if I'm the only one to feel this way, but Asuka/Alexis is arguably my favorite character in the entire series. She is strong-willed, capable, and her Cyber Angel deck really drove me to fall in love with Ritual Monsters (Funny how she as a character and Ritual Monsters as a whole are very underutilized in every Anime). It wasn't enough that she was underused in GX, but her Arc-V counterpart was also given a pretty pathetic run for being a legacy character in leagues with Crow, Jack, Aster/Edo, and Kite/Kaito. As far as Asuka, my head canon is her saving grace. Great analysis! I really enjoy your videos!
I never saw Asuka as an exceptional duelist since her only meaninful win was against Titan. GX had a lot of wasted characters who were suppose to be very skilled but lose so Judai could save the day. My favorite GX character Professor Cronos, had a similar fate. He lost almost all his meaninful duels. I'm not sure if it is the case but in animes popularity pools play a huge deal on deciding which characters will receive more focus, that may be the reason for good characters being tossed aside.
Weak writing of female characters is a common complaint of Shonun Jump as a whole. Many of their other series like Dragonball Z and One Piece are also pretty light on strong females.
I liked Asuka more in the anime, because she was in love with Judai. I'm a huge shipper and I like when characters have love interests. Too bad that she lost a lot.
Yeah that ritual in season 3 was really weird. They said that Jaden betrayed them and all of them went into detail about it but they all could see that it wasn't. I can understand that they were influenced but influence means you are still in control but are made to lean more towards one way. They should still see what's in front of them since they were present. Also Jaden didn't actually say that he didn't betray them and actually seemed to believe that he did...Yet he still blamed Brown so it really confused me. I still think you should do Zane. He's one of my most conflicted characters. Most of the times when a character goes dark in an anime it has plot reasons but Dark Zane didn't seem to do that. He participates in GX but doesn't help in the society of light and when he enters the plot again in season 3 he is so helpful and wise that he seems like his old self again. Also he was never snapped out of it but just gradually mellowed out. Another thing is that he won every duel after he got dark except for his final one. I really felt for him after he became an invalid but I really am just conflicted about it. Just what did it mean?
Characters they tossed aside Alexis,Hassleberry, Bastion least duel wise. Hassleberry had 1 solo win. Bastion did not duel after season 1. Alexis could have seen her duel more.
Personally, I totally ship Judai x Asuka, they're my OTP. However, I do think her character was wasted by the writers. It would have been better if they didn't make Judai the sole focus of the first 2 seasons. They could have saved time and money focusing on improving some of the filler episodes and filler cards in the anime.
I loved her anime character and deck (Rituals are easily my favorite type of monster). I agree in that after season 1 she (and every other character besides Jaden/Judai) was horribly underutilized. Sad, really. I will say though, I did love her and Bastion's tag duel against Adrian and Jesse.
Poor manjoume, when your brothers have high standards for you that you can't reach because you are constantly losing to your rival, and your crush doesn't love you and kinda has a thing for your rival, and three gremlins in panties are constantly following you, and you lose a chance to be the subject for this video because of three votes
Great job Dylan^^ I have to say i am not really fan of Alexis Tenjoin but i was really disappointed how they do in yugioh arc v.I was hope to see something more. Anyway nice job as always^^ Also congratulations for 5.610 subs^^I see the contest and i have to say that it will be awesome^^
We need more of these because when it comes to the Manga GX pretty much destroys it's anime counterpart with almost every main character. Chazz has much greater motivation for wanting to be a pro rather than being comic relief. Jaden grows up a lot faster without the need of a crazy demon or alien monsters. Bastion is shown to be extremely adaptable with his dueling technique. Syrus even has far greater motivation to reach and surpass Zane. I think my favourite part of GX is that Jaden is given real backstory for why he loves and uses his Elemental Heroes and Winged Kuriboh is actually incredibly important.
No wonder one of the manga character names sounded familiar. There's an old Effect Monster called Tragoedia from Turbo Pack Booster 4. Also, it's funny how Bastion had a crush on her when it's implied that he had crushes on female monster cards like Pikeru, Hiita, and an actual doll named Alice in the anime.
I liked her anime deck better but her manga version better, however I do love both. Also could you put Rua/Leo in the next vote I heard their differences were major
GX anime was my favorite more than the manga because unlike the anime the manga was half-baked story with no filler which was a shame because it needed it especially for Midori and Koyo's relationship and other things as well😑 The only highlights I loved where some better and well deserved treatments for some of my fav characters like Bastion, Alexis, Syrus, Zane being a softie,The Legendary Planet archetypes amazing backstory, Aster's father role in creating Terra Firma, The Supremacy Sun being a dark attribute and fiend monster which was an amazing symbolic mocking retaliation that the villain had against the priests who worshipped The Sun itself , the manga being less darker than the anime(sometimes I like the change of pace with the less edginess in some stories), Koyo and Midori along with Mackenzie and David and their dad❤, the manga cards especially Ma'at my fav, I wish she was a fusion like Neos Wiseman instead of an effect monster in the real life and her effect not changing😑, Tragoedia being a card and a villain. The negatives are some of my favs like Jesse, Axel and Jim were mistreated, Tragoedia's goal, David Rabb lack of presence, Jaden doesn't develop much like in the anime because in the Manga he became more mature in the end he was still the same despite losing few duels especially the one where he used the forbidden ante rule and lost two of his cherished cards Winged Kuriboh and Terra Firma himself which should have impacted him and becoming a turning point for his characters, the last duel between Koyo and Jaden with no result(because it would replace the anime's ambiguous ending and please many fans if we knew who won), Midori's lack of presence, Manga Chazz lacking nuance character arc feels shallow unlike the anime where he became more humane and learned from his humiliation and had a self- discovery journey which was caused by losing against Jaden(even though he didn't win many duels but his growth as a character is phenomenon), the lack of Duel Monsters Spirits interactions which was a sad and wasted opportunity because I always wanted to see Jaden and Terra Firma along with the other Elemental HEROS interact with him like Neos and the Neo Spacians did in the anime, the rushed plot along with the misuse of the 4 transferred students who literally did nothing to the plot at least Axel was trying to figure out what's going on before he was possessed, Atticus being a irrelevant character who was too being possessed despite being called The King Of The Obelisks and was stronger than Zane and having a an awesome deck he didn't duel much, the missed opportunity to reboot Blair,Marcel, Chumley and others in order to make them more interesting characters, the fact that anyone can see Duel Monsters Spirits with no explaining whatsoever unlike the anime we had at least given the reasons why some can and others don't, the wasted opportunity to create other villains, Crowler being stuck up and not learning from his mistakes, the lack of the transferred students duels and them losing their first duels, Aster being irrelevant unlike his persona in the anime, Jesse not befriending and dueling Jaden, Shirley not present 😭😭😭😭😭😭, the lack of some Manga cards in the real world and the change that was done in Elemental HERO Inferno's secondary effect which allows you if he was send to the graveyard to retrieve a spell card and use it, but it was scrapped it was so stupid and it was a bad decision whoever made it 😑, because the concept of two effects on EH is very rare( in real life), Mackenzie's lack of presence, Atticus being a cold narcessist. And that about wraps it up and sums it up thank you for your time☺️😍
While I love the fact that Pegasus getting chosen probably means you're reading the original manga(???) , but the only difference is really "Bakura kills him at Duelist Kingdom in the manga, he lives in the anime"
There's a couple of differences introduced in the Yu-Gi-Oh! R manga about manga Pegasus' past, plus other little differences like how Pegasus was involved somewhat in the Dungeon Dice Monsters arc in the show.
I like the GX manga alot too, mostly cause it's so different from the anime, which was kind of meh for me. Like things I like alot from the manga include : the fact that Bastion had his own type "Yokai" (which was then later transferred to the Zombie type in the TCOG which is a shame, as I would love if they kept it a new archtype), Jaden having not being the first person to own elemental heroes, Elemental Hero Terra Firma is alot cooler in my opinion than Elemental Hero Neos, Chazz's Light and Darkness Dragon and it's 2 ult forms (Dark and Light end dragon), the Masked Hero and Vision Hero archtype which are cool cards in their own right.
I have such a love hate relationship with yugioh gx I love the idea of school characters the duels but the execution was just so poor so much unused potential. If they did it correctly I beat 1000 dollars people would be saying they love GX instead of hating it.
Firstly, congrats on 5K! Sorry that it's late and I forgot to mention. Asuka had so much potential as a great character, but has been written so badly :s. It's sad how she is still the best female at Academia, since all girls are put in Oblisk blue, and Asuka is one of the only ones that earned it. I also really loved her personality, and I think she could have been really strong in any other series (like most GX characters). Seeing brain washed Asuka duel more would've been cool! She only dueled once with the ice deck and lost. I think it would have been really impact full if Judai was only able to get through to her after a loss and showing her their friendship and what resilience looks like. Or if she dueled her brother while brainwashed. As for manga Asuka: I wish that she had more wins, but I'm so glad that she didn't fall in love with anyone. And had a lot of page time as well. I thought it was odd how they always showed her using Cyber Angle Bentan, even though Dakini is stronger. I totally agree, she is written better in the manga then the anime. Her tag duel was much more impressive and she wasn't weakened by loving Judai. Thanks for uploading this :)
I don't hate the pairing, though it is not my OTP. But I am lost looking at so many comments where they seem to think Jaden and Alexis had some big epic love story or something.
@@oresti9271 I don't think they ever even had her think to herself specifically that she was in love with him. But feels like everyone and their grandmother I see on these things are going on about the dub dialogue with saying it "confirms" she is his fiancee, or that they got married and had one kid, or how the little part of the letter at the end of season 4 with the little "Let's meet up again someday" and the little picture of her that sort of looks like she's blushing meant she was "asking him out on a date". And don't even get me started on over half of the fanfiction about them. Like I said, I don't hate the ship. But I swear, sometimes it feels like these fans are trying to MAKE me hate it.
Yugioh Everything You're right! I pray to Genesis Omega Dragon, Osaris, Ra, and Obelisk, Thor, Loki, and Odin, and any other Yugioh Gods there are that this female lead is like Aki from the Dark signers arc for the whole series
Like Manga Asuka had very little as a character in general but "she's nice" and "she's a queen." which is hardly shown since she only duel like 3 times and lost most of them. At least in anime while she did lost it was mostly against strong villains while everyone else she showed to be able to beat. Literally showing off that she's strong but not the strongest
As far as her decks and her look, I prefer the manga iteration of Asuka; her manga deck is cooler, and the way she's drawn is softer, sexier, & more feminine. As a character, however, I like the anime version more. As for the GX manga as a whole..."amazing" is an understatement!!
Let’s just all agree, romance just doesn’t have much prevalence in Yugioh. Mainly cuz the series is more action and gaming focused. I mean it’s for teen boys. They are more into that. And Judai yeah is very clueless and even after his maturity he still acts clueless.
@@Shadowrulzalways Or the frist one as Judai never really shows any interest in any female character and by season 4 he has alredy chosen Yubel to spend forever with.
Over all manga did her more justice than anime and same is true with other GX characters as well. It's like in anime she was written to be just girl of group and that's all even if she had her personality which is shame IMO.
I liked Alexis better in the manga too and I found that Bastion's crush on her was cute. I like Jaden x Alexis, but I like Bastion x Alexis in a sense that I like characters taking a new direction instead of always the main guy and girl being paired, especially when it goes nowhere in the show.
It never goes anywhere in Yugioh. At least it made sense why that was so in the original Yugioh with the love triangle. The only pairing that went places was Jack X Carly. While the other Yugioh anime pairings always friend zoned each other, Jack and Carly felt like a real couple and one could argue they were in a relationship by season 3. Jack was never seen hanging out with just one individual, unless it was Carly. You even see those two sitting at a table for two at a coffee shop, which even by Yugioh standards is considered a date. I felt like Jack and Carly were originally supposed to be a couple and decided not to go there, because 4Kids. I have to wonder if the anime is not allowed to place relationships between characters, because of 4Kids standards. I mean you notice characters having hints of crushes, but never go anywhere or at least not start a relationship. Even with Yami and Mana, you notice there's a hint that maybe there was supposed to be something more going on between them. I mean Mana was very informal to Yami, which no one was ever allowed that unless the woman was going courting the Pharaoh or something. I mean they were in the garden alone and Mana often rode behind Yami on his horse. Kinda makes it seem like the anime wanted them in a relationship and were trying to make hints to see if they can get away with it. It felt the same with the other characters that hinted romance. It felt like they were supposed to be in a relationship, but something was holding them back.
I absolutely hate how Asuka had almost no interaction with Edo in the anime. It was like they were paranoid about him taking her away or something. Heck, even in Arc-V where they were the only two GX characters, I don't think they even said one word to each other. And the manga duel didn't even show the whole duel, just time skipping to where he defeats her, basically. The Yugioh anime writers must have thought the whole world of Yugioh would end if these two spent more than two minutes talking to each other.
Poor Anime Chazz, the guy just can't catch a break -
Alexis: I'm sorry, Chazz, I don't love you because I'm in love with dueling!
*Episode later*
Alexis:
aoi zaizen fairy -chazzandalexis
MANGA
Misawa: Notice me please.. ??
Asuka: Nope
She just said that so Chazz would go after Jaden.
Yeah, but Manjoume is rich and might have become big in the pro league. He had a lot of respect for her and seemed genuinely in love. I like to think she grew up and
reached out to him before too much time had passed.
Where have i heard those before? XD
Manga readers know she told the truth
*_i Watch GX for the plot... i swear.._*
Hahah I'm sure you do.... XD
Pffff I watch it for Jesse and Jaden lol

I like Alexis, as she was my childhood crush watching the show, but she is my favorite female Yu-Gi-Oh! Character too, and GX has always been my favorite series
I've got to agree. After watching GX again, I find that I really do like it.
OK!?
me too XD
Me too I had a massive crush on Jaden😍 and a huge admiration for Bastion
As for Yubel I pettied her..
Jesse was my hero❤
I used to think that Asuka was somehow related to Kaiba; she's looks like him genderbent basically
She looks a bit like Joey also.
Maybe kaiba and joey hooked up
Andy Camarones Kaiba: NOOOOOOOOOO
@@Andy-xk3un kaiba worst nightmare
She and her brother does have hair styles that can be used as argument that they might have blood relationship.
alexis best girl
Kinda odd that almost all the female students we met in GX are exclusively Obelisk Blue. Alexis' record really underrepresents as a "Queen of Obelisk Blue Girls".
Dally Skye its because only the obelisk dorm has a separate male and female living areas So all girls are automaticly put in to the obelisk dorm
I don't recall a single female Ra Yellow.
darksideofevil13 wasn't on the pilot episode, the girls helping with registration were yellow ra?
darksideofevil13 she Is an exception as she was thought to Be a boy and when it was revealed she Is a Girl they try to move her to obelisk... If My memory serves me right, Been a while since last watched gx
She's the Queen of the Obelisks but she lost to an Osiris Red who was in his first day in the Duel Academy.
1:32 Extremly clueless? This guy was so dense he wouldnt have understand it having it written on a giant ass board.
AnArKyJake-senpai he's the example of guys being too clueless to girls who obviously like them
You know what comes to my mind. If Alexis would take Neos and write down a love letter on Neos Jaden would still fail to get it and instead would ask who scribbled on Neos. Thats how brainless this guy is in comparison to any other YuGiOh protagonist. FML.
AnArKyJake-senpai i think yugi and yusei actually got the hints
The thing with yugi was that it was a clear situation in regards of both liking each other (the confusing part was whether she likes Atem or Yugi more). And Yusei from 5Ds was 20 at the end (the oldest protagonist so far) which made him more rational in decisions leading to this reasearch to safe the world from being destroyed in the future. 5Ds was more of a tragic romance. That made these stand out. Judai from GX became more mature from season to season but in order to make him mature visibly they made him dumber than a piece of whitebread which kills everything except the main plot.
At least he's smarter than Ash from the Pokémon series
i like Asuka as a character in Gx ,she was a good duelist but your right she didn't have as many solo duels as Judai and won against opponents who where not very strong, she flip flop so many time that they made her someone you didn't you before and she really liked Judai but they never got together because Yugioh doesn't focus on romance , i mean Look at Aki and Yusei from 5d's am i right or wrong.
Sellavin Atoms at least she won 8 duels than the other female duelist mai got 5 wins and the main female character in 5ds also had 5 Wins
oreki houtarou I just hope the new female lead does a lot more.
Sellavin Atoms I need her to at least have more wins
oreki houtarou same here.
Sellavin Atoms in all fairness, GX didn’t handle any of its side characters well.
Alexis is best Yugioh waifu
Maurice Flores amen to that.
I've always been an Akiza man, but Alexis definitely is waifu material xD
Yugioh Everything dude, she's been my waifu ever since I first laid eyes on her back in 05.
To me the best waifu to me is probably Carley she is Just adorable and she has an amazing arc in the 1st season with Jack (best character)
But after the 1st season she forgot her character development( by the way I know about the whole Cult thing.)
Akiza is 1st, but Alexis is close 2nd
Akiza isn't just pretty face, she actually has both a meaningful backstory and character arc.
"Queen of the Obelisks"
Obelisk: a tall, phallus-shaped pillar
Yes, I'm sure she was called "Queen of the Obelisks" because of her skills with handling "decks" *Slaaneshi giggling*
Many weeb have been triggered and are now keyboard warriors making an entire essay about how much they despise you for saying their waifu is somewhat of a harlot.
𝙃𝙀𝙃𝙀𝙃𝙀𝙃𝙀𝙃𝙀𝙃𝙀𝙃𝙀 wonderful
Yep, three major things wrong with the GX anime:
1) A lot of one-shot villains... a lot of them to tend to be part of filler episodes.
Yeah you nailed it! A lot of people say Arc-V had a lot wasted potential (fair statement) but so did GX really..
edo was trash in after season 2.
13KuriMaster Basically a lot of the episodes have Crowler trying to kick out Jaden.
Well first season.
Funny enough, I posted that video on Clueless Gamers, not this channel, this channel came after Clueless Gamers xD But thank you! Means a lot
yeah, haha. Since I mainly watched the yu gi oh stuff I guess I just blurred the stuff from clueless gamers that was yu gi oh related onto this channel in my memory
I like Alexis and I ship her and Jaden but Jaden's character needed to mature more instead of being fucking clueless
HAHAH so true
That means he still has more "maturing" to do! Besides, I think the ending is pretty ambiguous; they could have met up sometime later and hook up. I think the writers left it up to our imaginations.
I didn't like the clueless aspect of Jaden either. It always bothered me.
As clueless as jaden is he also have a dangerous and evil (and yes am talking about the supreme king)
@@alex_flamer me to but it's kinda true
Manga all day but Judai is my favorite Yu gi oh character
I love Judai as well! One of my two favorite protagonists
Yugioh Everything I don't know when I was a kid I just saw him I was like okay I like his personality I like his character and I like his deck that he is that's why I only use a hero deck because of Jayden
Neo Nightwing I love his passion, the path his character took, just an awesome character!
Yugioh Everything Are you going to cover him soon?
Thats funny.. So she had a good deck in real life, but they made her suck in the anime? Especially the second half of GX
Yugioh Everything no that's off, what actually happened is that the people that make cards ran out of ideas and decided to print her cards with brand new buffed effects
Brandon Medina yeah your right, I missed that but I still think it's funny since those cars were hers in gx.
8locksley it still sure as hell is
there are so few meta level cards that were treated with the respect that fans think they deserve though
Such a shame,I really wanted to see Asuka do so much more! I seriously don't know why the writers downgraded her so much. And don't even get me started with Asuka in Arc V lol
I couldn't even bring her Arc-V persona up.. Otherwise I would have launched a 20 minute rant haha , As you said, don't get me started!
tbh, I actually forgot that she even existed at Arc-V... they really didn't wanna bother to make her stand out much, compared to the other cameo chars :U
Andres Marrero I'd rather see an awesome duel with guys. I never understood the girl duels at all. it was like they're monsters were weaker.
+Andres Marrero ikr... I mean, it was very obvious at DM, but the female duelists outside of DM was actually decently good, even more so for Asuka, Aki, Luna and Serena... at least we got Ray that might be able to stop Zarc if she does appear owo
Anzu in a nutshell XD
Alexis while reading most of this video's comments: There's more about me than just my looks.
"Done dirty after 2 until 4"
So 3?
Wow you really simplified everything about their characters.
Yeeeeaaaah this is pretty simplified
Asuka is my favorite female duelist.
Good for you
You know alexis is the queen of games when she is the only girl who actually won a duel xd
She won 11 games
I would’ve loved to see her fight her brother in season 1 it would be so cool.
I wished Asuka had confessed to Judai Yuki. What a wasted missed opportunity
Children card game anime bro.
Hardly when most YGO anime audience and players are preteens, teens, and young adults.
worldwanderer91 and if it was for children then they wouldn't have added dark elements throughout the series. It would have just been like pokemon( excluding the manga)
All of GX anime is a wasted opportunity.
Thank you Anthony! Welcome to the channel, glad you joined!
Isn't she the only person who managed to tackle the unstoppable Yuri out of the way while everyone else couldn't even make contact?
That's true! Was in Arc-V, but you definitely can't question her bravery
I like the anime counterpart more actually. I always love a love-connection between characters, so her crush on Jaden almost pushed her towards trying to become a better duelist.
She’s always my favorite waifu tbh , such a cutie
You forgot to mentionher theme song in the anime is gorgeous
You can’t really blame jaden for being dense , i mean he did get brainwashed when he was a child and his parents were pretty much never there for him
Anime or manga i already know who's Asuka going to end up with, two words "Judai Yuki".
Also I'm starting to work on my calculations for the contest, my break was extended by 2 days lol xD
Sorry for the long ass comment, I'm in the ranty mood rn haha xD
Chronos
I agree. Asuka is grossly underused. Same issue with anzu in duel monsters.
I like her better in the manga since she seemed to be a more rounded character and wasn't a damsel in distress. Although, I wish she got a couple more wins in the manga.
Same, I wish she won a bit more, but I agree with everything you said!
I like asuka from anime and I want to see she had confessed to jaden when they meet up again
Please noooooo
I enjoyed both versions of Alexis. I believe she did have feelings for Jaden in the manga, but not strongly noted as in the anime.
Maybe! If she did they were definitely ALOT more subtle than in the anime!
2:24 sadly he is better than most teachers I see
I remember seeing Asuka in the anime for the first time and thinking:
"Whoa! She looks awesome! I want to grow up being as cool as her!"
Safe to say is, I regret ever thinking that :(
HAHAHAH she fooled us all xD But it wasn't her fault, the GX writers didn't know what they were doing with anyone except Judai
Yeah stilll...
Loved the video i hope you will do one on her brother fubuki he is one of my favorite characters
Thanks! I'm sure I'll do him at some point
I predict Asuka's gonna win!
Being real, I was waiting for this.
I hope you enjoy! :)
Keep in mind, being called the best duelist in Obelisk might have been better had the competition been somewhat better.
"That pretty much sums up Asuka in the GX anime" 😂
@@JojonathanOliveira he beat chazz too and good character development in s4

My mind says Manga, but my heart says anime... CURSE YOU EMOTIONS AND FRIENDSHIP POWER!!!
I dislike how female characters are treated in the Yugioh anime. Heck, even Aki turned into a joke after becoming good
I liked Asuka more in the anime, because she was in love with Judai.
Actually ritual summon is kinda hard
she also utilized fusions in the anime deck she used, not just rituals.
Also, Manga!Asuka + 1 for the ice deck (fave element along with water and fire for me :D)
Alexis was about to duel Aster but that is when Jaden came back to debut his neos deck
I wish he had waited to come back. I wanted to see more Aster and Alexis interaction.
Poor manjoume, when your brothers have high standards for you that you can't reach because you are constantly losing to your rival, and your crush doesn't love you and kinda has a thing for your rival, and three gremlins in panties are constantly following you, and you lose a chance to be the subject for this video because of three votes
Great job Dylan^^
I have to say i am not really fan of Alexis Tenjoin but i was really disappointed how they do in yugioh arc v.I was hope to see something more.
Anyway nice job as always^^ Also congratulations for 5.610 subs^^I see the contest and i have to say that it will be awesome^^
Anna draws The channel's growth is insane :OOOOOOOOOO

Blizzard Princess is my favorite card so I might be biased.
I'm pretty sure the Cyber Angels were Alexis' ace monsters, since she only used Cyber Blader once.
Thank you for this video. I'm a huge fan of GX and JudaiXAsuka. You have my sub
Thanks for your sub! Really appreciate the support! :)
You should do Mokuba Kaiba. Probably the most drastic change.
Of all the people you choose mokuba
Bastion has a crush on her?!
Yep! He's practically obsessed with her in the manga haha
That's really cool xD
Moey Al-Nass it’s hilarious bc he doesn’t seem to even glance at her in the anime tbh.
Btw,congrats on those 6k subsribers!
Thank you Scarlight!
I don't know actually witch version of Asuka I like more I enjoyed both but I might said the manga one
GX anime was my favorite more than the manga because unlike the anime the manga was half-baked story with no filler which was a shame because it needed it especially for Midori and Koyo's relationship and other things as well😑
The only highlights I loved where some better and well deserved treatments for some of my fav characters like Bastion, Alexis, Syrus, Zane being a softie,The Legendary Planet archetypes amazing backstory, Aster's father role in creating Terra Firma, The Supremacy Sun being a dark attribute and fiend monster which was an amazing symbolic mocking retaliation that the villain had against the priests who worshipped The Sun itself , the manga being less darker than the anime(sometimes I like the change of pace with the less edginess in some stories), Koyo and Midori along with Mackenzie and David and their dad❤, the manga cards especially Ma'at my fav, I wish she was a fusion like Neos Wiseman instead of an effect monster in the real life and her effect not changing😑, Tragoedia being a card and a villain.
Yep! And I have already read the original manga! Might have to go back to brush up on my Pegasus knowledge
There's a couple of differences introduced in the Yu-Gi-Oh! R manga about manga Pegasus' past, plus other little differences like how Pegasus was involved somewhat in the Dungeon Dice Monsters arc in the show.
lindyxmjh true, but still he has wayyy less differences compared to Heartland or(my personal pick)Godwin
The GX manga was my introduction to yu gi oh
If you think Alexis's character was under used and wasted in the anime, Bastion's was even worse if you ask me.
I have such a love hate relationship with yugioh gx I love the idea of school characters the duels but the execution was just so poor so much unused potential. If they did it correctly I beat 1000 dollars people would be saying they love GX instead of hating it.
would you make a list about the top 5 hairstyles of all series
As for manga Asuka:
I wish that she had more wins, but I'm so glad that she didn't fall in love with anyone.
Thank you Phone! And great insight! Not one person has liked her in the anime more than the manga so far xD
Yugioh Everything
No problem :D! And thank you, it's just unfortunate that female characters always drop off at some point.
The manga version of Gx everyone was boring
Fucking preach!
@@phonepup06 he is not writen badly in s4 has character development
If I recall correctly Asuka had no feelings for Judai in the original anime. That was only pushed by the dub
For whatever reason
there was others like alexis and her 2 firends
Never new there was a manga Alexis but personally I prefer the Anime side
the gx manga is amazing I love jadens deck in the manga and the backstory about it
I like the anime version of Asuka better
Hi Dylan ! I vote for Godwin, He is my top favourite antagonist like Dartz and Don Thousand !
Do You received my link Yuto ?
1:31 and people still are shipping those 2 Wtf lol jaden literally doesn't care about Alexis (as his girlfriend) and people are shipping them 😂😂
I don't hate the pairing, though it is not my OTP. But I am lost looking at so many comments where they seem to think Jaden and Alexis had some big epic love story or something.
@@raina1848 I know right their romantic relationship it's so one sided only Alexis likes jaden and that's it
@@oresti9271 I don't think they ever even had her think to herself specifically that she was in love with him.
@@raina1848 yeah I understand
@@oresti9271 😁
Asuka is second BAE behind Aki
I can agree with that, until we see the 6th female lead ;) Have high hopes for her hahaha
Yugioh Everything You're right! I pray to Genesis Omega Dragon, Osaris, Ra, and Obelisk, Thor, Loki, and Odin, and any other Yugioh Gods there are that this female lead is like Aki from the Dark signers arc for the whole series
I think I choose the manga version because she is more independent and she is a more skillful duelist then her anime counterpart.
Definitely agree!
manga version she literally lost all her duels except for one against two people holding back their best cards. Like what?
Or dose he simple not have any feelings for her and never saw her in a romantic light.
@@4wheal The latter.
@@Shadowrulzalways Or the frist one as Judai never really shows any interest in any female character and by season 4 he has alredy chosen Yubel to spend forever with.
And here's me after 3 years.. still asking god to let me see Yuki and Alexis together for god sike
Over all manga did her more justice than anime and same is true with other GX characters as well. It's like in anime she was written to be just girl of group and that's all even if she had her personality which is shame IMO.
Agreed! Manga GX char > Anime GX char for the most part!
I do enjoy Asuka a lot poi!
I liked Alexis better in the manga too and I found that Bastion's crush on her was cute. I like Jaden x Alexis, but I like Bastion x Alexis in a sense that I like characters taking a new direction instead of always the main guy and girl being paired, especially when it goes nowhere in the show.
Agreed! It was definitely humorous the crush between Bastion/Alexis, And it almost always goes nowhere in Yugioh..
Yugioh gx manga Asuka does't have a romantic feelings towards Judai, Yes or no she still Judai's girl.
Delusional.
To bad that Judai dosent want her a d shows zero interest in her
I hope you do compare the Arc-V version to these 2 later. It'll be interesting to talk about her...use in her limited appearances.
I may do that in the future!
Nice as always ^^
Thank you! :) Glad you liked it!
Unfortunately for Asuka, Judai is gay for Johan
I was eh about Asuka until season 4 where I really didn't like her writing
Blair came in the first season and reapeared in the second as well she did not come in season 3
True, but she wasn't relevant until Season 3, or the last episode(s) of Season 2 arguably
