He is showing potential, but he still has a lot to work on. I do love the pickup for the thunder though. I wouldn't say he's shocked me with his numbers though. 58% true shooting is only 2% higher than league average for the SG position. And most of his shots are coming from the paint. That's going to inflate his FG% just a bit.
His steal rate is really impressive too. And a rookie guard scoring efficiently is really rare. Compare with Ant’s rookie season, Jalen Green’s last year (and continuing this year), the rest of the rookie guards of this class… he’s already ahead of them in that category. Really promising. He’s been hitting more 3s lately too.
exactly, proficiency at rookie levels is already hard enough to come by but his volume's reasonably high too & he's fitting within a lineup w/ two better ball-handlers & a lot of rookies do not tend to be particularly valuable in good lineups
Love him. Not only does his wingspan help him guard bigger players and get blocks from the weakside, but he also is leading the entire league in steals in 2023.

Last game against the lakers in the final minutes he literally got burnt by Schroeder 5 plays in a row and I was getting so frustrated why he continued to guard him. Sure he’s physical and causes chaos, but he’s not nearly as good at staying in front of his guy as jdub is. Jdub is absolutely lock down, dort is just physical and chaotic. And yes I think jdub is better offensively than giddey. With shai being hurt we’ve seen jdub run the offense far more than giddey, although giddey has been playing great. But it depends on the night and sequence. But definitely jdub>dort defensively
Now imagine all these versatile players (Shai, Giddey and JDub) with a skilful center in Chet and a great defender like Lu Dort, PLUS all those other picks… OKC could be building a dynasty

I think he is a perfect fit for OKC and it's mad-scientist GM. He is a high-IQ guy who plays team ball, athletic, plays defense, switchable, and also has multiple tools on offense. You say his weakness is long-range shooting but he is steadily improving! He is 33.5% 3pt shooter for the season but he is a 40% shooter over the last 2 months! And his scoring keep climbing. He is an ideal 3+D wing every teams needs. I see him an ideal 3rd man on a very good playoff team. SGA and Chet (when healthy) could be the core. And this isn't counting all the picks that OKC can theoretically consolidate to acquire a top lottery pick or trade for an all-star. I am not an OKC fan but I just love basketball and OKC does a lot of things true fans appreciate.
One of the most exciting pieces we've added in recent years, I'm already a really big fan of his. Definitely excited to see how he develops over the next few years. It really seems like he could be another super important piece of this rebuild if the coaching staff keep developing him well
He's just good at everything, so really he would fit in well on any team. The only thing he is really struggling a bit with is his three point shooting. If he works nearly as hard as SGA does during offseasons, OKC's guards will be a nightmare for other teams to deal with for years to come. Hopefully SGA will take Jalen under his wing, since their bodies and games are so similar.
i think he could be a high % but not high volume 3pt shooter - others already pointed out his consistent improvement - not just a few games but at least 2 months worth of play time. His mechanics are a bit weird - notice how he almost doesn't jump when he shoots his 3 but his wingspan allows him to rise above defender. But, his release isn't superfast to be a high volume shooter and i don't see advanced skills like side-step, back-step etc.

presti said it best, he looks for decision makers, players with good instincts and can read the game, high IQ players. having the physical attributes and skill to go along with that helps but it's IQ and versatility he's drafting.
Without SGA these last 3 games he's averaged 20-6-6-2 on great efficiency, starting at PF when he's a SG/SF, and has had great +/-, if he had banchero usage and mpg on a poo team he would be ROTY.

i think he and jabari will be the first 2 to become complete players of this draft class. banchero seems to be an extremely smart and finesse player, but not the type of player who you will use to guard the other team's best player. chet might be the best player when healthy, but that's a big if. i think jabari will be a JJJ with some guard skills, and i think jalen might be like paul george with more efficiency.
I discovered how Great his potential is on 2k he’s an 82 OVR. I was surprised to see his 3pt @80. Considering they have him as a PF/SF in the rotation. He really does have massive potential especially in OKC’s Culture. I cannot wait to see this Young Core Develop. Shias a damn 94OVR, 3-4 Years in, Giddey is an 84-85OVR only 1 Year in & as previously stated JDub is an 82 @ the end of his Rookie Season!!

I discovered how Great his potential is on 2k he’s an 82 OVR. I was surprised to see his 3pt @80. Considering they have him as a PF/SF in the rotation. He really does have massive potential especially in OKC’s Culture. I cannot wait to see this Young Core Develop. Shias a damn 94OVR, 3-4 Years in, Giddey is an 84-85OVR only 1 Year in & as previously stated JDub is an 82 @ the end of his Rookie Season!!
