Hey Friend, can't thank you enough for taking the time to talk about your experience so far with the artist. Your content is awesome and really dig your channel. Hope all is well and keep up the great work! Looking forward to seeing how these things hold up for you over the next 100 miles. _team Atreyu
There are a number of reviews that I have watched on The Artist...many are good...this is my favorite! I agree with him...100% a part of my rotation moving forward 😊
Also: interesting that they compare to Hoka for you. It would seem I'm quite the Hoka fanboy, having gone through 2 pairs of Rincon, a Bondi and now own their walking boots!
I total agree with you and I have been using it for long runs and longer training runs. Midsole holding up so good. They really have something special in this shoe. Thanks for the update. I do wish they would increase the thickness of the outsole to 2-2.5mm. I’ve started wearing the outsole through on the rear right edge after 45-50 miles. Other than that no other complaints for this shoe.
I grabbed a pair after watching this and now coming back to watch again after I have done about 50 miles in mine. They are a bit softer than I am used to and still find my endorphin pro has the edge over shorter distances for me, but saying that I love the Artist! This feels more comfortable for me over distance and feels great at marathon pace. I’ve just cleaned them up and actually saving them for my next road marathon. I do hope in the future UK shipping costs are reduced! I look forward to keeping supporting Atreyu going forward.
Great video Andy. I’ve got mine to 125 miles and like you and pleasantly surprised by durability especially when compared to base model. Fresh shoe and fresh company…great to see new entrants making a splash in the carbon plated arena!
I've reached 350 miles in my pair, but this may be the limit. The upper and midsole cushioning could go to 500. The limitation is the wear in the lateral heel portion of the shoe. It's become so worn (as occurs in the Hoka Rincon) that it's very uneven. The shoe could do with a slightly thicker outsole in this area similar to the Fuell Cell Rebel 2 for more durability
Just got mine last Saturday & I really like the comfort! I’m mainly running with them on the roads only because of the bottom. My legs felt great after my Monday tempo run & want to see how I feel tomorrow after my 7 mile run.
Really interesting, thank you! I've been using mine for intervals, getting used to their feel under foot at the speeds where I'm pushing myself and they feel good. Slower, the warm up speed, is where I struggle as they don't feel as solid, possibly to do with the super light upper. I'm using them for my long run, only 22k so likely an easy day for you!, on Sunday as that's my last big run before the half. And then, of course, will use for the half itself. Intervals this morning...Mon dieu. I am shattered.
Not got to 50 miles in mine yet due to injury but the miles I have run in them have been fantastic. Agree 100% with you, bang for buck they are amazing, think in total it cost me £120 to get them to the UK. Would I use them for racing, probably not, but for training they're nearly on a par with the Endorphin Speed for me, and praise doesn't come much higher than that. Also, like the new backdrop, bit brighter and pops more. 👍
my pair is still waiting patiently for its first run. If the weather holds, it might happen in October. I am looking forward to giving it a chance to compete for the place of my next marathon racer with the endorphine speed and the Nike next percent as fellow competitors
Yeah it’s a really fun shoe and I think you’ll love it, just stay off the gravelly paths with it as it can be an ankle roller! But in flat concrete it’s beautiful 👌
Really like this new video backdrop and the colors looked so much better too:) I also wonder how the durability will be. It' s supercritical EVA, so I would assume the foam will last a while.
I suspect that they will raise the price somewhat on this shoe as well now that they seem to be abandoning the subscription model for their base model shoes. In all honesty this shoe works better for me for a long run shoe than using my alphaflies in terms of not having fatigue even if they aren't as fast. I also think that you might find the base model to be a great 5kish kind of racer because they are so light and surprisingly bouncy.
Yeah I guess it’s a case of watch this space with pricing, hopefully it stays affordable 🤞 I loved my base model shoe when I tested them, they were fantastic!
Curious to hear your thoughts on this show a year or so after this review. I am looking for an introduction to using plated shoes and am thinking of running a marathon in this shoe or the Saucony Speed. Of those two, what would you recommend?
I haven’t used this much after the video as I had other shoes in for testing…. I’d personally go for the speed though as I know the durability is better in that 👍
Thanks for the video review. Couple of questions: How's the shoe feel on gravel vs road? Does it absorb the larger pebbles on the road? How does the grip on the gravel feel? I've got a 24+ hour back yard ultra coming up. Could you see this shoe being comfortable for over 24 hours of running, or would the base model w/out the carbon plate be a better option?
I loved this shoe, cushion was great but the one thing you’ll find on this is due to the upper being so light with no structure / support, it’s quite easy to roll your ankle when you go over a pebble / rock… the plate, just like every other plated shoe, doesn’t mould to the pebbles/gravel so you’ll land on one then rock either left or right… I’ve had to really stick to smooth tarmac in these… but for that surface it’s absolutely amazing!
Not sure if you’ll get this comment or not since it’s an old video but I have the original base model and the insole was so firm. Are these the same or does it feel different because I don’t need 30+ millimeters of real firm insole I mean Midsial
atreyurunning.com/the-artist but you do need to sign up for it because it releases in runs, so it is a little like when Nike was making their super shoes really scarce and you had to have the app to luck into a pair.
@@garethevans2499 No, that isn't the case usually. There's only like two times a year when they let you order it. You have to sign up for the newsletter to actually know when they are letting people pre-purchase. Go to the site and try it now and you'll see they won't take your money for it right now.
I have both. The artist seems to me more of the cruiser of the two. Lock down way better in rocket x, and that shoe is snappier. I’d race the marathon in the rocket X, but I found a deal on the Alpha Fly I couldn’t resist. Of the three, AF probably best tho more uncomfortable as it is narrow mid foot.

This is a solid review. I'm new-ish to Atreyu but so far this is my favorite model for various reasons and purposes. Great job sir!
Great review! This shoe is a fantastic value! I’m excited to see what’s next from Atreyu!

Definitely agree with you on best uses for this shoe - great for longer runs with some efforts in 👍🏻
That’s great to hear! Glad you like it too 👌

Yeah I keep going to checkout their base model v2 and then the shipping is just too much so I back out…. Really hope it’ll come down at some point!
Great review. Agree!! I really enjoy running with the shoes 10-18mi @MP to hMP.
Thanks! Yes that’s basically the same as me!

Nice change of scenery for today’s video 😎

Cant be beaten for value that. Sounds like a ace shoe. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us Andy. 😎🤘🏻
