Second time watching this, just noticed that the settings on the Empress Heavy are pretty low. I thought it sounded too weak on this video compared to when I use it or on Ola’s video. The gain on the Ceres is all the way up and on the Empress the gain, output and weight are too low. The weight gives it a thicker sound in my opinion.
I noticed you didn’t use the other channel on the Empress. I have the Heavy and prefer the other channel because it’s tighter and much clearer for modern metal.
I actually had three of those: Ceres, Heavy and Chug, all awesome. Ceres is closest to amp like preamp, the heavy is probably the best metal distortion ever made when used into a good clean amp. Chug is cool and all but its not comparable in feel to the ceres as a preamp. Does what it says well - it chugs consistently anywhere you plug it (amp, direct, power in). Ceres and Kraken v4 were my favorites, the ceres has more features and more compact but I ended up going back for the kraken for my go to pedalboard. it's big and heavy but for me for plugging into power amp is the best. Out of those four I'd go for Ceres as a preamp and Heavy as a distortion.
I feel like the Tight Metal would have kept up better with the included boost on. Ceres doesn't need a boost to be tight. I still own the Ceres and a TMP, sold my Empress Heavy though as I felt it didn't work as well as a preamp. There was something weird in the mids I could never dial out, sounds good hear though.
I’ve used Amptweaker tight metal and tight metal pro for years. Bought the new pro 2 version and didn’t realize that James brown sold Amptweaker to another guy. Nothing beats the quality of the original tight metal pro.
I use my EQ200 with my Empress Heavy. The chug wouldn’t need that and like the Empress Heavy it has a built in noise gate but it’s even better. If only it was released before I bought the Empress. 😢 This is a great video man, keep creating them.
Totally agree with your results. The Tight Metal Pro sounds brutal. It's my favorite here in this comparison, because of the dark brutal sounds. Do you know more about the 2. version, is the noise gate better to adjust? Your channel is one of the best metal gear archives. If I'm searching for something special or if I just need an inspiration, I watch your channel. 🤘
Liked them all Its between the Ceres and the Amp Tweaker for me. The Chug was good but too cold for my tastes. I loved the Empress but it was a little dark. but I am certain the Empress could be dialled slightly brighter and it get closer to the other 3 for cut Ceres was rich in mid range , not sure if this is a Gain structure thing or a mids EQ thing, but there was something in the mid range that really makes that pedal stand out. It also had a nice low end warm yet tight, and really articulate high end The Amp Tweaker almost has a similar thing, has the richness but maybe a bit lower in the Freq spectrum, seemed to be the perfect mix of the other 2, the cut and tightness of the Chug, but the Fatness of the Empress. If you put a gun to my head I would probably chose the Ceres, with the Amptweaker a good close 2nd, felt the Ceres just had that extra layer of quality to its tone, sounds , as you say , like a Hi Gain modern Metal Tube amp, and a good one too. The Amptweaker also sounded very Tube Amp like, actually reminds me of my amps setups, the Ceres sounds like Amps I wish I could afford hahahaha Having said this for sheer Brutality the Chug will make a lot of players happy, and the Empress sounds killer and with a bit of Dialling I think I could get a tone I love out of it for sure they were all pretty good to be fair, seems like if you want heavy from a pedal, these all will work lool
I have a chugg pedal and I want to love it but it’s kinda needy and difficult to get it to do what you want. I’m scared I bought another metal zone. How do you have yours set up for the video
So I was watching berried alive solo clip and he had a bandana on his headstock to mute the strings that are connected to the headstock and I was like does that make a difference? And now I come hear and I can hear it I'm forever ruined
Personally i can see why some people wouldn't like the chug, i think ola had it modeled after a Randall Satan (his old sig amp) and that's a very bright amp but i like it. For the price it isn't bad compared to the other pedals on that line up.
I’m guessing I still prefer the tone of the Chug or the Ceres, but I gotta tell ya, that lick you’re playing is absolutely terrible for analyzing the sound of a guitar/pedal. Could you please play something different?
Thank You, I can’t believe Mr Brown changed the tight metal pro to look like a 50 dollar Amazon pedal! These are the best lol! Great Demo!
He didn't, he sold the company and that's what they did.

Chug and Ceres are the best, but I still prefer the new chug pedal. Ola Englund did an amazing job, I'll get one for my pedalboard for sure 🤘
Agreed
I felt the chug was the worst out of all of them. It sounded really bright and thrashy to me. Maybe the settings
I noticed you didn’t use the other channel on the Empress. I have the Heavy and prefer the other channel because it’s tighter and much clearer for modern metal.
KRS, Tight metal, empress, chug
Now this is a proper comparision video.
I actually had three of those: Ceres, Heavy and Chug, all awesome. Ceres is closest to amp like preamp, the heavy is probably the best metal distortion ever made when used into a good clean amp. Finally, someone that knows what theyre talking about.
Its all about the Heavy \m/
Ceres and TightMetalPro wins… FLAWLESS VICTORY

KSR wins
Silas brother how goes it my friend? Glad I caught this video 📹 🎶😈🤘
I’ve used Amptweaker tight metal and tight metal pro for years. Bought the new pro 2 version and didn’t realize that James brown sold Amptweaker to another guy. Nothing beats the quality of the original tight metal pro.
Damn, didn't know that. Love the tight metal pro but had to sell mine to fund 5150 purchase.
is there a sound difference between the st and pro version of the tight metal?
@@jeeeeevmore eq options and a boost. Had both, would be happy with either.
The Ceres seemed the best to me
Always mesmerized by Ceres
Any pedal with the gain at full and a expensive platform is going to sound amazing, so is difficult to make a conscience judgment with this video.
This video sold me on the Empress man, I appreciate the work you do.
You wont be disappointed.
Yes! Here we are once again, to...
KSR and the CHUG were my favorites.
Hey, post that in the main channel, good chugs are always welcome!
Dude, I've been looking for Ceres comparison for so damn long and youtube search wasn't showing your video because of the "Cerers" typo.
HEAVY & KSR...my faves!!!!
I use my EQ200 with my Empress Heavy. The chug wouldn’t need that and like the Empress Heavy it has a built in noise gate but it’s even better. If only it was released before I bought the Empress. 😢 This is a great video man, keep creating them.
You want the chug over the heavy...😂😂😂
This is some chugging shit SIlas at 61 yrs young I appreciate this man 😆 this was a sickness u had here 😂 thank u brother 🙏
My Metal Zone gives similar chugs but has fewer knobs.
My Boss Phaser gives similar knobs but fewer chugs.
KSR Ceres
Man the Ceres is fucking brootal!
this pedals are insane dude!

I know they released a new version with a better noise gate
But I never tried one
You can literally open the noise gate wide open in the tm and it will be off 😂😂😂😂😂😂
You do stuff, that we love, thx, man!
Another great video from our brazilian brow !!! Valeu Silas
our sensational
Nice chugging bro. I like the Ceres!
Very cool these pedals, I like these videos comparing them!!!!
#BestTH-camChannelROF
#RigOnFire
All of them had a really good sound. Solar Guitars "Chug pedal" was just little bit better.
Liked them all
Its between the Ceres and the Amp Tweaker for me.

10/10 demo
Riffs sound like a loud factory ... in a good way ... great demo
Empress all the way
Chuggity Chug Chug Chugger
Great comparison demo
I'm Ceres user, love it because tube amp like, but Chug... I'm curious when compared with Airis effect nemesis preamp
Do The Revv Northern Mauler
They all sound great, but I don't think you can beat the $199 price for the CHUG pedal for fundamentally similar tonal capability.
That's what I'm thinking.
Silas, How the Chug compares to a Revv G3 or G4?
For the chugs you are doing, the G4 from Revv would have held up to these pedals. Ceres and Revv G3 & G4 user here 😅
G4 and DIEZEL VH4 pedal should have been in this vid
G4 is a good pedal but the Heavy and the Tightmetal are a bit better imo.
I have a chugg pedal and I want to love it but it’s kinda needy and difficult to get it to do what you want. I’m scared I bought another metal zone. How do you have yours set up for the video
He probably has all of them set up as preamps instead of in front of the amp.
The chug is meant to be a preamp pedal first and foremost.
What's really sad about the chug is I had to add a boost to get that good rich chug sound. Boosted with a maxon od808x
until my ear mixed it all I was pretty much going with the CHUG...
So I was watching berried alive solo clip and he had a bandana on his headstock to mute the strings that are connected to the headstock and I was like does that make a difference? And now I come hear and I can hear it I'm forever ruined
The Chug was the worst for me. Really bright sounding. Reminded me of Dimebag sound or thrash.
I think a Dimebag tone is what they were going for when creating that pedal. I think it sounds great but it definitely isn’t the best.
Thanks for using only 1 guitar, sick vid! I'll go for Ceres and Chug also
dentro de esta competencia el orden de más a menos es ceres, chug, tight metal y heavy empress
ksr!! made in usa and reliability.. all good.... fuck it buy all of them 😀
Great!
Personally i can see why some people wouldn't like the chug, i think ola had it modeled after a Randall Satan (his old sig amp) and that's a very bright amp but i like it. For the price it isn't bad compared to the other pedals on that line up.
♡
Chug won.
I'm leaning towards the CHUG...
I’m guessing I still prefer the tone of the Chug or the Ceres, but I gotta tell ya, that lick you’re playing is absolutely terrible for analyzing the sound of a guitar/pedal. Could you please play something different?
Do the Revv Northern Mauler next🤘
Empress Heavy ftw \m/
god damn, modern metal tones are awful
No they aren't. 🤷🤷
I agree modern metal is garbage
@@schecter7elite801yes they are
@@BatteryAcidEater no they aren't.
god damn, modern comments are awful
My Blackstar HT-Metal is still the shit. Put it up against any on these and it will eat their lunch. Just sayin
😂
Okay bro 🙄
The Heavy is the best distortion pedal ever made.
Yep tight metal pro is the one
I love that no one knows chug is a racist term for Indians 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
What really...?
I'm pretty shure ola doesn't know...🤔
What about chugga, the same meaning...?
