Oooooh damn dude. This is tough. I like them all. The AmpTweaker is so chunky though!!!! The Ceres is bright tight, but the AmpTweaker TightMetal pro II sounds fuller to my ears. The Fat Metal is exactly that. FAT. There’s a specific tone with the AmpTweaker pedal. The Ceres sounds safer, but the AmpTweaker sounds different. I’d put that AmpTweaker on a recording.
Giving the people what they want! The Tight Metal gets my nod for favorite, then the Ceres and Fat Metal. Awesome job showing the differences and dialing them in. One thing that's always stood out to me with the Tight Metal compared to other preamp pedals I've tried is that there's just something more organic (hate to use that word) in the feel and low end. I think this demo shows that pretty well. Somehow the Tight Metal just feels more amp-like to me. Looking forward to more comparisons and videos with the Amptweaker pedals and the Ceres. Would be interesting to see if you can get the Tight Metal as tight as the Ceres with the built in boost, and maybe a video showing how the built in boost compares to external ones. I've ABed the onboard boost with my various OD's and it really holds up well.
Cool fact about the amptweaker, that circuit started it's life at Peavey where James Brown was a designer. Look at the Peavey Dirty Dog and MAX100 pedals. There's a lot of similarities in the circuit that the TM/FM are evolutions of. Curious if we'll ever see another evolution of it one day from EVH(where James is now after selling Amptweaker).
Thanks for your demo. I have the original Amptweaker Tight Metal Pro V1(I did get the Res. and Pres. switch from James), and I now know I am going to get a set or 2 of the BK Nail Bombs. Sounds Phenomenal. Huge.Peace-
I have only watched two of your videos so far (back-to-back) and I really like your polite approach. You actually seem like a nice dude who also happens to demo gear about which I am curious. Keep at it.
I vote for the KSR. they all sounded good but there just something going on in the lows of the amp tweakers that the Ceres does better. The Ceres just sounds tighter and more aggressive too. But I would probably enjoy all 3 as well 😄
love your demos!!!!!! i play strictly 8 strings and have a hard time finding demo of equipment using the 8's...keep em coming..I love em all but leaning towards the TIGHT
Amazing Video as always ! I wasnt able to get good tones on my tight metal pro ii on lower volume. this volume knob is very sensitive eventhough i am going thru my PS170 running very low volume
the fmp sounds compressed and the tmp is less so, and has that huge low end without any of the flubby frequencies. The ksr is somewhere in between it's not super compressed and doesn't have as exaggerated of a low end. They all sound balls out good.
Holy shit. Tight metal sounds fucking wicked @0:36!! Definitely beats the ceres. Thank you. I've made my decision. It sounds the most evil and has the best clarity. That's what I aim for. I believe the tight and fat metal are analog and ceres is digital.
I was fully team Ceres until about halfway through, when you showed how thick the TMP can sound. I think the Ceres is maybe the most unique sounding, but I'd probably lean towards the TMP after this video. The real answer for me is, which ever one I can find cheaper used😄 (or the non Pro Tight Metal pedal).
Nice comparison video. They all sound better than my Boss Metal Zone pedal. I don't think anyone could tell the difference if you played any of those pedals along with a full band of drums, bass and second guitar once you dial in the knobs for the tone you like.
Should also test the boost of the amptweaker compared to ceres. For this test, i don't know if ceres is better than amptweaker because of different eq settings. Also for amptweaker, you don't need boost pedal, presence/resonance pedal and gate pedal, big savings and space.
Awesome comparison! Definitely going with the TMP2 cuz I definitely don’t need that much low end cuz I have plenty with my Ceres and powerstage 170 acts somewhat like a resonance/presence in a way with the bass and treble on it. I love the tightness of the Ceres and TMP2 is pretty tight and a different tone monster! I can’t wait to run them in stereo. Do u have any way to do that? That’s what I really want to hear together but if not I’ll find out soon enough
At 10:25 ish tone comparison is hard to discern cuz the KSR is much louder than the other two. B4 when you still had all three set for the intro demo they all sounded equal vol but unique tonally. The Tight Metal is my choice for the price and many tonal and routing options. Good vid dude👍🤟 Metal on
Been looking for a preamp pedal to go ampless or a Modeller. The Amptweaker V2s have so many options for just a preamp pedal. Could literally use it to professionally record stuff. So far I'm between The Vesta, the Tightmetal, Nux Academy or The Headrush MX5. I don't think I need all these options tho.
just bought a fmp2, only just. Still wondering how to get a good tone with it, cuz too many buttons and switches on it that can lead to many tones. Maybe u can show more about them.
I bet there are tons of demo videos on the fmp u could find one thst u like the tone on and copy those settings. Or do what i do. Lol spend all day dialing in the tone on my new pedals . some distortion pedals i thought i hated til i tryed them with different amps ,boost pedasl , and guitars .
I actually think the fat metal pro would work better for 6 strings and the tight metal pro would work better for the really low tuned 7 or 8 strings. Ceres is still king tho.
Honestly though, there’s something about that TMP that makes it better for thrash (my main genre). It’s the chug my friend, it does that. aside from that, the sound isn’t as modern and over-the-top as the ceres, which though isn’t bad, aint the sound for me.
What sounds good playing by yourself in your room rarely is what sounds best in a mix. Generally, bass heavy pedals sound better playing by yourself, but they are worse when a guitar is in a mix. For this reason, there's no real winner. It just depends on where you plan to use it.
Personally, I feel the FMP is a little closer to the Ceres...but like I said, you can get a bunch of tones out of ALL of them, so it's kinda hard to say haha
Hey hey! Think of the return on an FX loop like a different input on a guitar amp. It RECIEVES signal from your guitar (or usually a pedal). The difference is that it SKIPS what happens to the signal when you run into the normal input (so it skips things like the gain, bass, middle, and treble controls). So you would go guitar->input of pedal->output of pedal-> amps FX return. That basically JUST amplifies the pedal, without most of the tone of the amp (the preamp) getting involved.
23:42 the fat metal pro finally takes the ceres the tight metal pro II is a different sound altogether. 2 much clunk in the ceres and no cello violin. the amp tweaker has the cello violin sound. a boss metal zone would destroy a ceres. :o) y do i feel like a troll doll? yes . . .. i . . . i am , wish i had a KSR CERES hahahhaha ,not as much as an amp tweaker though! :o)
Does the fat have as much gain as the tight ?....i play 6 strings...and tune drop C sharp....the fat isn't just for 7 or 8 strings...but lower tunings right ?
I feel the fat is slightly heavier than the tight...a touch more growl...essentially couldn't one use the tight knob on the fat to be tight like the tight....heavier ultimately 😆 ??

Yeah man, all of them are darned great haha

They all sound amazing. If I had to choose just one I'd go with the ceres.
Keep in mind the ceres Is a 3 channel pedal were the other 2 are only one channel to me that's a big deal breaker
Thanks for your demo. I have the original Amptweaker Tight Metal Pro V1(I did get the Res. and Pres. switch from James), and I now know I am going to get a set or 2 of the BK Nail Bombs. Sounds Phenomenal. Huge.Peace-

Whoa! I'm kinda liking the FMP!
Yeah dude haha. All very good.
Great value comparison THX
love your demos!!!!!! i play strictly 8 strings and have a hard time finding demo of equipment using the 8's...keep em coming..I love em all but leaning towards the TIGHT
I appreciate you! And honestly, I think you'd like any one of these that you get lol.
That tight metal has almost a warm Tube sound. A little more fuzz.
I like the Fat metal the best.
Amazing Video as always !
I wasnt able to get good tones on my tight metal pro ii on lower volume. this volume knob is very sensitive eventhough i am going thru my PS170 running very low volume

Pretty much fully agree haha
Holy shit. Tight metal sounds fucking wicked @0:36!! Definitely beats the ceres. Thank you. I've made my decision. It sounds the most evil and has the best clarity. That's what I aim for. I believe the tight and fat metal are analog and ceres is digital.
Man! Sounds good! Great tone and great chops! I’m really digging those amp tweeter peddles! I’m trying to decide witch one to get.
Definitely a fair take haha. They are all really sick
I think the fat metal pro 11 sounded the best for a brutal modern metal tone in my opinion
16:45 sounds beastly.
Reminds me of the MICK THOMSON (Slipknot) Omega Granophyre tone.
Nice comparison video. They all sound better than my Boss Metal Zone pedal. I don't think anyone could tell the difference if you played any of those pedals along with a full band of drums, bass and second guitar once you dial in the knobs for the tone you like.

how did you find the defizz function? im usually ignorant to the amptweaker brand but your comparison really got me intrigued
It can be cool, if you use a LOT of treble and gain...but I haven't had a need for it yet haha.
@@PariahVSGear thanks!
Add a MXR10 band EQ with the ceres and it is the best preamp pedal on the market
I just got the Tight Metal st, I love the darker tone of the Tight Metal (I'm an old school guy). Thanks for your videos!
Nice man, thanks for sharing!
Excellent video. I honestly liked em all but the ceres to me sounded more balanced overall.
Awesome comparison! Definitely going with the TMP2 cuz I definitely don’t need that much low end cuz I have plenty with my Ceres and powerstage 170 acts somewhat like a resonance/presence in a way with the bass and treble on it. Yeah man, it gets a little difficult to maintain volume at exactly the same level without adding compression after the fact, but I do my best haha.
🤘
Been looking for a preamp pedal to go ampless or a Modeller.

Thanks for the vid. I’m debating the tmp
I clicked the button and ordered it.
Enjoy dude!
Question. Have you had a chance to try the tmp2 through headphones?
Ceres is on my wishlist! TMP is good. Volume seem lower but it had that chug!!!!
Had the KSR, sold it an got the TMP 2 which I like better
Great video man! It helped a lot!
Thanks! Glad to hear that!
00:30 cool part
Love the ceres but... UNLEASH THE KRAKEN!!!
just bought a fmp2, only just.

Yeh, thx. Seems much better dialing the tones days after.
I actually think the fat metal pro would work better for 6 strings and the tight metal pro would work better for the really low tuned 7 or 8 strings. Ceres is still king tho.

nice comparison
KSR Ceres wins for me. Much more clear sounding and dynamic like an actual Tube amp. I find the Amptweaker too compressed and fizzy/hairy.
Nice side by side. Sub'd.
That Ceres is too fizzy. Fat Metal Pro II all the way.
What sounds good playing by yourself in your room rarely is what sounds best in a mix. Generally, bass heavy pedals sound better playing by yourself, but they are worse when a guitar is in a mix. For this reason, there's no real winner. It just depends on where you plan to use it.
Who do you play for dude? Ever looking for a band to tour with? Hopefully 2012. Have a good one, dude.
Maybe one day, but no time soon haha.
Which of the three do you think will be better for old-school death metal sound ??
Out of the 3 which do u prefer dude?
They seems to hold well against the Ceres. Seriously which do you find closer to the Ceres? Me I would say the Tight Metal Pro II
Personally, I feel the FMP is a little closer to the Ceres...but like I said, you can get a bunch of tones out of ALL of them, so it's kinda hard to say haha
Hi. How does plugging into the return work exactly? I'm confused. what input/out on the pedal is used? Both?
Thanks!
Is the tight metal tighter than the ceres dude?

Does the fat have as much gain as the tight ?....i play 6 strings...and tune drop C sharp....the fat isn't just for 7 or 8 strings...but lower tunings right ?
It does have just as much gain.
And yeah, theoretically, it should be great for lower tunings too
Thank you...how good is the gate on these ?
Great for noise reduction! Not the FASTEST one in the world though, if you want the djenty stuff
I feel the fat is slightly heavier than the tight...a touch more growl...essentially couldn't one use the tight knob on the fat to be tight like the tight....heavier ultimately 😆 ??
Do you like empress heavy ?
Ceres can’t be beat!
Silvera!!! Hell Ya!! i email you the other day. i hope it went through....Email was Deviljack33@
my money on ksr ceres
At this point, demoing anything against the Ceres feels like asking a minor league team to beat the Yankees.
Generally yeah...but I'm officially not sure anymore haha. I think these new amptweaker pedals are just as good, just different flavors of it haha
