Lions On The Hunt - Kruger National Park - South Africa

As the lions lounged by the Shingwedzi River in Kruger National Park, a small group of buffalo approached the waterhole, unaware of the predators nearby. Three of the lions, sensing an opportunity, began to stalk the unsuspecting buffalo.
The buffalo quickly caught on to the lions' presence and confronted the three aggressors. The buffalo stood their ground, using their sharp horns to force the lions to back off. The other nine lions merely watched on, seemingly amused by the display.
Undeterred, one of the lions attempted to circle around and single out a buffalo, but the buffalo's defensive charges made it clear they were not easy prey. Realising they were outmatched, the three lions gave up their pursuit and the buffalo were able to escape to the safety of the dense bush.
With the excitement over, the 12 lions returned to their resting place, content to bask in the afternoon sun after what was likely a successful hunt earlier. After observing the scene we decided to depart, leaving the apex predators to their well-deserved respite by the river.
