@@benoliver5261 I'm just pointing out the hypocrisy. I actually agree with him that these Pokemon investment channels are irresponsible but he's one of them.
I mean investors are not manipulating. They are speculating based that the information being shared is correct and are reacting to the information that "good set + short supply = higher price" and are front running the market thinking that the prices will be above average, resulting in higher than average preorder pricing. If anyone was manipulating, it would be vendors... if they were saying supply was lower than it actually is and sitting on cases to sell at higher prices resulting from their misrepresentation...that would be manipulation. I don't think this is what happening. It really comes down to stronger than average demand (from players, collectors and investors) + seeminly lower supply. I trust the sources of information + (a lot of the stores I track are not showing preorders/sold out...have not seen this for quite some time). Personally, I've 3x my normal pre-orders...and from 3 different sources out of fear they might not get required allocations and are forced to cut what they can send me.
My conspiracy is that pokemon company printed a bunch of boosters, but released less than normal so the price will jump to 159 quickly so ppl will buy at that price off of the pokemon center
There is NO MANIPULATION, the set has been short printed and the demand for pokemon cards is high right now. Investors arent the cause of this its pokemon themselves... they are controlling the market with how much they are printing.
Yeah I don't see this stopping just yet. This release schedule is reminiscent of the SWSH run that started with Evolving Skies and ended with Crown Zenith.
It doesn’t matter is it’s investors buying or players or your grandma. As long as they are selling, the price goes up. It’s simple supply and demand. This is the best set in the SV era so far and it’s coming out right during the holiday season. Of course it’s going to be a hot item. This video seems kinda pointless
This surge in demand is entirely artificial, driven by significant purchases from outside investors. It is plainly evident. Many people fail to realize that the more investors flood the market, the greater the likelihood of a major reprint. We saw a similar scenario with Paldea; however, since that set experienced more organic growth--meaning more cards ended up in the hands of players--the reprint was light and had only a minimal impact. The Pokemon Company is quite adept at identifying when their product isn’t reaching players, and they adjust accordingly. Surging Sparks is on track to become the most hyped set yet, but ironically, the excitement seems to be coming more from investors than the player base. Players don't appear particularly enthused about the cards in the set. Pikachu cards-despite their iconic status-historically struggle to maintain long-term value or appreciate significantly (outside of vintage and limited run promotional cards). A risky buy for sure at these prices.
I think you're right its being pushed by investors buying large quanities but that is what the demand is for this set. You can say manipulated but that is currently the demand. Think about evolving skies reprints that went just as quick. You can say whatever you want but personally the set is that good. The hit cards are on the level of sword and shield but the fun factor is there. I believe you can look at a set and see if its going to be successful. You may not get every set right but this was an easy call imo. If pull rates stay similar to the last set this set will not drop to prices of earlier sets without a massive reprint. No hate, i think you should have pre ordered because the signs were there but in the end its your money and decisions but i believe expecting this set at even 105 is unrealistic unless they print this into oblivion but only time will tell.
went to my local LCS today and asked them about surging sparks booster boxes. They said they will be selling them like normal at 110 on realease like they always do
Its not a crazy take that this set is going off the way it is. You have the literal mascot of Pokemon (Pikachu) as the big SIR, you have another SIR who brings back the memories of the Latios&Latias tagteam alt art and a couple other decent SIRs in Milotic and Hydreigon. Then look at the SIR trainers, you have two big returning trainers of Lisia and Jasmine. The thing is they have a LOT of chases and this is just based off of that and nothing more. What will really cement the pricing and cause a huge spike in price is if any of the cards end of being either short print or hard to pull on the level of say Moonbreon from EVS.
I remember when i got Bitcoin at 3k and hated myself and said the exact same thing when i was watching it claim from 1k to 3k. I wanted it to crash so bad. You kinda should like that rn. No hate

All natural growth and demand.
In a few years booster boxes will be coming out at 165 starting price which will force away a lot of sealed investors but the collectors will still purchase
If they short print this set and is immediately sold out and is a major hit you don't think they're going to do a reprint? The only time they don't is when it's an unpopular set, this is going to get printed into the ground. Pokemon knows what they're doing. You probably won't be able to ever get in at $90 again but the 100 - 105 range is probably going to happen especially with the Eevee set coming out.

It's all that nostaliga nomics guy he spreads fomo. Also pokemon is printing the same amount of packs but they're putting them more into ancillary products than booster boxes because the every day mom or dad will buy a tin or blister pack rather than an expensive booster box
A year ago I thought this wasn't a crowded trade, but I haven't actually run into many collectors of Pokemon cards, almost everyone is an "investor" whether they're doing so efficiently or not. I'm not sure what it means to have "sealed case premiums" for example. That seems like a complete artifact of the Logan Paul fiasco that has no real legitimacy. All the participants in this hate all the new Pokemon and the only things that pump are Kantomons and Eevees. I wonder how many years middle aged people can play hot potato with probably disgustingly large numbers of sealed products.
I think it's totally possible that everyone involved can make money and there simply be a pile of worthless illiquid booster boxes leftover in 30 years though. I haven't decided if it's bearish or bullish overall. There's also like an unlimited amount of possible catalysts over the years for Pokemon, so maybe it doesn't matter. In 25-30 years we've got vintage delineated by WOTC/Nintendo, a down period, a nostalgia boom, and now adult investors. My biggest concerns are that Pokemon isn't as meaningful or culturally relevant today despite being saturated, and that in another decade when there's hundreds of cards for each Mon, thousands of sets, why does someone want my Surging Sparks box in particular?
Pokemon always had more collectors than players, but I think today there's more investors than collectors. I'd like to see some of the investors channels try to push playing the actual game on people harder, I think it would help make this more sustainable.
Have you been to any of these collecting convention things? The collector market for Pokemon is huge. If there were more speculators then the market would collapse in on itself. I think you're right in that it may be going that way but from what I've seen we're not there yet.
@@monkey39128 It's maybe sustainable and even bullish, I just think it's uncharted territory. Collect-A-Con and similar things kind of remove the veil of scarcity though when there's mountains of Evolving Skies.

Prices shouldn't be going up like this for a set that hasn't even be released yet. Supposedly it's under printed, but the set overall is mid. Good, but mid. The ETB Promo is the best card in the set. This is the exact same thing that happened with Vivid Voltage. Eventually distros and big stores will order so much that the precises will crash. It's a lame set. Sorry.

No its got massive hype and mutliple stores and sellers have said allocations have been cut like we have to look at it factually if the supply is less than stellar crown and more people want it then yes its gonna be higher this is data based and i can point you to specific places like its still not even the real msrp its not artificial
I told you the hype is real, Vapor... you shoulda listened to me when I told ya to get in on Surging Sparks while you had the chance!!
No hate from me, i enjoy watching your vids.
But i think you should think about the positive side of things, and not get part of all the youtubers getting mad about this.
We finally have a set ppl are actually hyped about pre release, this is chrismas early for us investors. Doesnt matter if its 120 mate 😂 set is gonna age nicely.
Think positve, and you shall see the way 🎉❤
Just wait and see what happens when the eevee set goes on preorder. You aint seen nothin yet
Idk what’s going but I’m having fun opening the prerelease packs alr 😂
Dude MSRP on PC website is 160$+ 😅
i bought a case to flip it honestly
Pokémon's a company they're a big part of Japan's economy let alone if they can organically get MSRP for their boxes without having to do anything but print less why wouldn't they they raise their profits
Bad take. If the economy is so bad in the world and people don’t have money to spend but everything in the Pokémon market is trending up it’s clear that there is authentic demand pushing this Pokemon bull market
Hahahahahahahahahahhahhahahaahahahahahaha!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Just wait until the new eeveelutions set comes out in Japan then everyone is going to regret buying Surging Sparks 😂
Or they'll just buy that one as well.
@@monkey39128I was about to say like wtf imma buy this and surging sparks😭😭
I've preordered both
Im with you 100%
Did you choose to say everyone is going to hate before the hate to try and get in front of it? Or do you genuinely believe that what you're saying is correct?
I think you bait a lot of this negitivity man. If you didn't bring it up, people wouldnt even attack you. As for opinions people are always gonna have their hill to die on. So what? Continue to do you and give your own opinions. They are on your channel.
I agree that Pokemon should just print more with this amount of demand.. They dont have to release it all at once either but do a much later printing then drip feed. The markets obviously hungry for more.
109,90 € On cardmarket
Bout to be $150 at release
New to the pokemon investing first case is surging sparks for me lucky got it for 579 a case...enjoy your perspective... Going to be doing one case per new release. Don't worry about haters... To each their own
He doesn't get much hate. He gets valid criticism.
100%, Kind of a tell when the rest of the items are in stock and at normal prices.
nostalgia nomics is spreading fomo
I'm disappointed at your video. I'll just leave it at that.
Sorry.
Vaporization
lol I hope Pokemon overprints so i can buy at half of MSRP.. this didn’t happen with the bad sets must be FOMO .. this was a good laugh. Thank you! For those that don’t watch DP he even stated you could get as many ETBs as you wanted but not any more BB than normal. It wasn’t short printed it was printed the same as all of the other sets ( i think maybe more but they know they will be able to sell them for more after release) that’s my theory.
Vapor
Vivid voltage 2.o. I’m just going to watch the market price and not be buying anything.
Highly unlikely to be another VV.
Lol no way
You wish lol. 😂
I’m just going to buy up evolving skies ancillary products because I know it going up in price in next 2 years
@@chinaistheman that's fine, I don't think that's a bad move but zero chance this is vivid voltage. Those sets are far apart from each other, one is one of the stronger sets the other is one of the weaker sets. It not even close
Vaporself is the greatest ever
Whole tcg market is big speculation.
