Absolutely. Both Brian Wilson and Al Jardine knew George Harrison. And Al, like George, learned the teachings of the Marharishi Mahesh Yogi. Al still practices transcendental meditation.
I love to see Brian so happy and engaged with performing. He doesn't come out his shell much but when he does he's terrific! I'm happy the audience cheered when he got on stage, Brian just like George, is a legend!
What is chilling is how Brian starts off soft, getting the feel of the song, and then he nails it! I think back on how much Brian and The Beatles admired each other. Brian probably never imagined he'd be celebrating George after death. Must have been hard.
The Beach Boys and the Beatles were two sides of the same coin. America and Britain embracing the legacy of Elvis and expanding the definition of Rock & Roll. Yes, they were two different styles of Rock, but they both created iconic music and humans will be listening to their songs a hundred years from now.
Seriously?? I've seen Brian in concert. I've read his autobiography. He's earned every bit of recognition he deserves. But come on. He hasn't been engaged in singing in decades. He phoned this performance in by reading all the lyrics. I'm a fan, but not a fanatic. This was not a good performance. People get old and lose their talents.
That mid 60s period where the Beatles and The Beach Boys were turning up the creative volume with every release will never be seen again. Thank you Brian.
When Brian passes away that will be the passing of American icon. So many amazing things about this guy. Composer, producer and wonderful soprano voice that would haunt your soul when you would hear his voice, especially when it was a harmony. We miss George so much!
I didn’t dare to prelude Brian’s passing here, in the comments. Improper. Anyway, his face expresses longing for that final moment as if singing a JS Bach Cantata. Endlich, endlich wird mein Joch wieder von mir weichen müssen. So be it.
I have never cried for a celebrity death, but I probably will with Brian! I saw his Pet Sounds tour in 2000 thinking that would be the only time I would get to see him! No one thought he would out live his brothers and Melinda! Especially if you look at his condition in 1981! But after 2000, I saw him 4 more times over about 17 years!
Amazing how this special song brings so many people together! So many smiles! Saw Dhani also. He must get goosebumps know how many people loved his dad. Brian, so glad you got the highlight song. Perfect. Thank you all at Georgefest for keeping it alive and continuing. You all do George proud!
Was lucky enough to have met the Beachboys in 76 or 77, worked in a hospital, with kids with cancer and leukaemia they brought each child an early Christmas gift! Thank you guys, never forget your generosity and caring!
I'm guessing that may have been because of influence from Al Jardine. Al, like George, studied the teachings of the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, and he still practices transcendental meditation.
Absolutely beautiful! So touching. I love Brian Wilson, talented musician. And forever a Beatles fan ❤️ George Harrison. Timeless music and musicians. ❤
...Thank you for acknowledging that Brian Wilson - Songwriter, Composer, and Producer, Genius - of the Beach Boys, especially Pet Sounds...Was there First. Directly influenced and inspired The Beatles to make Sgt Peppers. This is a perfect example of one great Artist/Musician Honoring another....
Brian along with the beach boys could arrange and sing the phone book and make a #1 hit! so glad I grew up with the Beach Boys in the 60's, under Brians genius, truly a group that will never be duplicated, thanks for sharing!..........great version!
I’ve loved this group forever!! Wonderful to hear Brian singing again!! One special touch here-, he’s the spitting image of my kid brother (gone now) so I always take seeing him as a special sign ❤️ (names are the same too!!!) TY. For posting. Miss you always ❤️
“God Only Knows” and “Good Vibrations” are two of the greatest musical composition ever written by a human mind. People don’t always realize just how many classic, iconic songs Brian Wilson wrote. Here’s a few… Good Vibrations, God Only Knows, Surfin’ Safari (find someone who hasn’t heard those opening lines), In My Room, Wouldn’t It Be Nice, Fun Fun Fun, I Get Around, Don’t Worry Baby, Little Deuce Coup. Out of all those songs, at least one line is known by every person on Earth.
Perfect original guitar intro, nice job by Brian of George's my sweet lord from 1970, I'm sure he is looking down and enjoying Brian's cover of his song
Very satisfying hearing him sing this song. I oddly fell in love with the Beach Boys' music before I did the Beatles. After I gave my life to the Lord, I found myself going back to classic music from the 60s & 70s to be the soundtrack of my life & that Phil Spector style mix on alot of those Beach Boys songs really stole my heart & colored my world. Took me over a decade to eventually find myself slowly listening to alot more of motown & before I knew it BAM, I was listening to the Beatles records on repeat(i knew their hit songs but not their albums nor their solo work). Beatlemania for me started right before that Get Back documentary dropped. All of a sudden that was all I listened to & Ive been watching the documentaries & youtube channels on them ever since. I feel bad for disrespecting such amazing talent by not listening to their best work so many decades of my life. Oddly, the best christian music I ever hear tends to be written by non christians lol, smh. Salute to whoever reads this but let me also add, Jesus is NOT Hare Krishna by any means nor did Jesus equate Himself to the many (false by biblical narrative)gods of this world. I still love the first half of this song though. I still hope & pray George figured that out on his deathbed before it was too late. Profits us nothing to gain the world & lose our souls...even this diehard fan base will pass away..."All Things Must Pass".
Can we just take a second for Al, he stays by Brian’s side. True friend!
Absolutely. Both Brian Wilson and Al Jardine knew George Harrison. And Al, like George, learned the teachings of the Marharishi Mahesh Yogi. Al still practices transcendental meditation.
God, I read AL as Ai for "artificial intelligence"...
I love the Beach Boys ❤❤❤ just to mention.

This is just brilliant! So great to see Brian Wilson on stage performing George Harrison's amazing masterpiece! Very touching.❤
For George! That was a great moment.
❤ Agree 💯😊😊❤
Brian is back, halleluiah.
I prefer to see Brian happy. Brain can be happy too but I prefer Brian. 😅
Brian Wilson is one of the few remaining from his era who has truly earned the mantle of legend and genius
Brian Wilson a genuine musical genius
😂😂😂😂
Some of the best harmonies in the business of music ever
It’s not easy to be a musical genius yah know!

@@charmcrackermusic4250Brian? The best by far.

I love that Al Jardine was right by Brian’s side, not even really singing, just supporting him. A great friend.

A terrific vocal from Brian. He seemed really engaged in the performance.
And his voice is better than it has been for a while. Great performance from Brian and all round!
Mama ma ma ma??? My kid was laughing all the video lol that cool
Getting old one starts longing for real values.

Brian Wilson, the best singer/songwriter in the history of Rock & Roll. A California Legend!!!
Let's not exaggerate, but he surely is among the brightest stars in the firmament of rock music
I agree @dukeofkool
Brian really is a genius
That mid 60s period where the Beatles and The Beach Boys were turning up the creative volume with every release will never be seen again. Thank you Brian.
Seeing brian smile while singing is everything. The guy just keeps on keeping on!
Brian and George-----two rare, genuine geniuses.❤❤❤

Hands down brian wilson was one of the best song writers in my life time and im 62.
Brilliant... Rest in peace dear George, thank you for the music and all the good times 🙌🕯️🕯️
Just found this. I watched it about 10 times straight and can't get enough. Tears in my eyes.
Brian Wilson, everybody. What a legend.
Beautiful tribute from Brian, obviously had a lot of respect for George
I'm so incalculably grateful for Brian Wilson's existence.
This is unbelievable, Brian is wonderful, and sounds like The Concert for George.
RIP, Dear George. We will always love you.
💫♥️🥰🥰♥️💫
Leave it to Brian Wilson, a genuine Beatle lover, to provide the best cover of this song that I've ever heard.
Not the best but pretty decent

This was in Canada! There’s good people in all classes and careers in life,
Superb version by Brian what a great tune for starters
So glad they performed this with the Krishna lyrics. I've heard too many covers that omit them. George would be pleased.
I'm guessing that may have been because of influence from Al Jardine. Al, like George, studied the teachings of the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, and he still practices transcendental meditation.
IT'S GREAT
George will forever be in my heart
A Beach Boy singing a Beatles tune, does'nt get any better than this.
Actually, two Beach Boys, they guy next to him is his bandmate Al Jardine
It's not a Beatles tune really
Recommend checking out the Beach Boys cover of With A Little Help From My Friends too!
I never get bored of this song, it is fantastic...🎶🙏
Two beach boys singing a non-Beatles song lol
