    The plant at 23:46 is Tradescantia Spathacea(oyster plant). Native to south/central America. Introduced to many countries as an ornamental and has become invasive. It must have drifted to the island. It's spread through a lot of islands/countries in the Pacific by drifting long distances in the ocean. A bit of a worry to see it growing there.

    • @Andysfishing
      @Andysfishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes I’ve also heard it referred to as Boat Lily which makes sense because it must get flashed out of the rivers and into the ocean and then onto the island next time I go there I’ll remove as many as I can

    Those are interesting lures, Andy. Very similar to the GT Icecreams from South Africa which are made from white Teflon. I enjoy your passion for wildlife, and flora. The plant you found with the purple and green spikey leafs is a non-native from South America: The oyster plant (Tradescantia spathacea) is known by many common names, including boat lily, purple-leaved spiderwort, and Moses-in-the-cradle. ... This plant is native to tropical regions, including Belize, Mexico and Guatemala.

    I believe the island with the water seeping from the ground may be an ithmus, where a split in the underlying bedrock allows for a basin of freshwater to form seperate to the salt.

    Nice vid mate! Gotta love getting wrecked by the big GTs hahaha.
    For future reference, that was definitely a grey mackerel (broad-barred) as opposed to a spanish (narrow-barred). They're a bit harder to come by so nicely done!!!

    • @Andysfishing
      @Andysfishing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes quite a few people have pointed out that it was a grey mackerel, and I did think it was odd that it had a really black dorsal fin. But at the time in the rush at the moment I just went with Spanish. I’ll head out there again for a rematch on those big GT
